Do you know where I can find documentation to get the mod to run on real hardware? I've tried to do my own research and I only see sources on accomplishing this through hex editing the ISO instead of an IDE method as shown in the vid.
you can use an Xstation like I have an there should be some sorta hybrid emu for the PS2 call POPS. Theres also the PSIO for PS1's that have the expansion port (however I've heard compadibility is pretty bad so I would not try it).
I didn't know if you were still active. I was able to pull up ff7 and try to change the character pictures in the menu. Everytime I try to import the PNG, it gets wonky even with the correct pixel size and was wondering if you might be able to help.
Is there a particular place we can chat? Like x?
I havent really done anything related to FF7 but PS1's GPU can draw 4bpp , 8bpp or 15bpp graphics (4bpp and 8bpp need some sort of pallete)
Does this program help with translation and changing the value for item drops? Since I’ve been hunting down a program that can help me out

Bro can you give me a hand? I wanted to replace dialogues in Syphon Filter 3 Pal version; already got the fixed ones but I'm stuck; I have the files in .wav and have to convert all of them in 1 single .xa file.
I explain how to edit (including combine) XA files in my Mega Man X4 Music editing video. But the simple answer is to use the MRC32 tool thats included with the PS1's SDK
This tool looks phenomenal. Been toying around slightly with it and taking some side notes. Might try and make something out of it. Theres a ton of well documented options in here. Still getting used to the editing interface itself, but its way more than i ever expected to stumble upon.
This is seriously such a fantastic tool. I just had a main couple questions if you don't mind: Do you have any notes on boss health locations? What about notes on boss AI attack patterns? I fully understand those are likely going to be hex edit related, but not sure where to even begin looking. I tried searching for any RAM/ROM documentation but came up empty.
bro i'm having a really hard time trying to keep up with you, you're assuming people already know a bunch of stuff, i mean, take 4:49 for example, you just say to create a new folder for our games and so, but HOW DO WE GET ALL THE OTHER FILES IN THERE ? Thanks.
theres a template thats is included with red-hots & I's tool chain. Also json is very common general purpose file format so you could just type all by hand if you really want to. Normally I just copy the template folder (witch I think is just called 'game_name' in the repro) then just edit the files from there , there isnt' really much to explain

probably not , they made a lot of small changes that make it pretty much pointless to make an editor for those games.

@@Futuretime23 mainly overlays. MegaMan X4 doesnt have but the other games have them.
@@Kuumba ah, I can see that being a bitch to work with, and I dont suppose any of the X5 or X6 protos can help or have any debugging symbols of any kind (I didnt look into them that deeply, only played them and messed around a bit with some memory hacks)

Can this program be used to change video and audio files? Beavis and Butt-head in Virtual Stupidity was released for PS1 in Japan, but the audio is in Japanese and the only English release is the PC version. Definitely wanted to try swapping the files to make an English-friendly PS1 ISO. Thanks!
no this tool is only for dealing with code. But now in the current version of the program you can include edited game files via the fileList.txt (witch wasnt a feature while I created the video) so if you need do coding + editing game files then you would use this tool for that.

thats not part of the text data all thats hardcoded into the game.

Look so great , maybe i ask a question? I found a few dirrerent version of ps1 emulator , but when i click open and select the ps emulator location , it show "The PSX.EXE (SLUS_004.53_ was not found" . Is there any emulator can i use on it? Thanks a lot
no , because that only contains the PSX.EXE and not any of the other game files.

I haven't worked with any 3D PS1 games but you would use pretty much all the same stuff I used in the video.
@@Kuumba I'm thinking of making a unplayable boss being playable in another game. Do you think that would be possible? You can unlock him with Gameshark but there is some editing that needs to be done that maybe you could fix? :) I can show you if you are interested.

Most game-shark codes simply involving freezing some address in memory so if you know stuff about the address it is freezing you shouldn't have to much trouble making a patch of that code@@joakimsuominen3329

Im in a situation where i cant listen to sound but i just found this and Im dying to know before i can watch it properly. With this set of tools would it be possible to replace a main character model with four other other models and swith between them using the buttons on a second controller? Is it also possible to write to a disk useable on a native console? I know thats a lot of specific things to ask with no context but I'm anxious to know before I can watch it with sound.

Just an info... PSX games are ISO, but megamanX4 folder contains .json files... how can i extract .json files from the ISO?
its a general perpose file format for storing custom file formats if that makes sense. However , you did remind me that Redhot (the person behind the modding tool) released a new update so the older version of the config.json file won't work unless you mainly add in the mininoob option. I updated the git repro so just add line 8 into your config.json file and it should work

Yeah, X5 and X6 has seem to be compressed all the game data file, unlike X4.
