You little ripper!
9 years after the upload I find the vid! Screw you youtube!
That's was a spectacular episode. Incredible effort and determination.
Почему так мало лайков? Это же супер видео! Спасибо за эту работу брат!
have you got a facebook page?
Man are you still doin this?
Man these videos are epic. You deserve way more hype on this channel.
Was this reserve the Beaconsfield Nature Conservation Reserve? It has been closed to the public for several years now. If it is, you are lucky to have accessed it 9 years ago.
It was between Inglis Rd and the football fields. It was like another world in there, I hope it's not closed!
Awesome video... thanks! BTW what's the camo for, do the orchids hide if the know you're coming?... just jokes.
Glad you like 👍 the gear is functional, but the camo a play on "orchid hunting" 😉
@OrchidHuntersAustralia I love it!... keep up the fantastic work 👍
Thank you for sharing your knowledge ❤
Real. The Flying Duck Orchid (Calena major) was described for science in 1810. It is one of many Australian orchid species with a "spring mechanism" built into the lip petal (labellum). The most common "whacking lip petals are found in the more common greenhoods (Pterostylis) species of Australian winter and early Spring. In the case of the flying duck, the sensitive lip is the duck's head and neck. The duck's body contains the male (anther) and female (stigma) organs united into a column. I've seen these flowers at Royal National Park (New South Wales) and manipulated them. Yes, you can hear a click when the head fits into the body. The footage looks pretty accurate to me. although I doubt plants require such frequent fires to bloom.
wish i found this channel sooner
nice vid! thanks for sharing!

Need more orchid videos bro
Should revisit this location now that you have a drone.
Beautiful!
Beautiful T. Queenslandica photo sir!
Just put your goggles on and light up your torch on your head the boar will get scared.
Julian are there any sun orchids commercially available? Specifically Thelymitra Crinita, T. Matthewsii or any of the other sun orchids.
Best bet for bulbs is to contact the Australasian native orchid society (vic group). Not sure if they have those but they will point you in right direction mate.
cool bro
So long between drinks, but worth the wait. Awesome work and thanks for posting.
Thanks mate 👍

Very kind, thank you. Have a wonderful day ☺
Do you have any info on "tea tree orchids"?
Love me some tea tree orchids. If you do a little digging, local nurseries have them now and then. Otherwise if you just want to see them in wild, Meleluca viridifolia (paperback) in the Koah region often has them.
@@OrchidHuntersAustralia yeah I have a few tea tree orchids, I have some golden orchids in flower, what's the price range on them?
Hmm good question, prices a little out of my area
Hola amigo que alegre volver a verte...Dios te guarde

@@OrchidHuntersAustralia yoway, need to go orchid hunting one day
When its not so rainy and windy haha
@@OrchidHuntersAustralia yeah ay haha
It is such a poverty of supply of orchids in Bunnings and other nurseries when orchids are the biggest genus in flora and there are thousands of species and hundreds of thousands of hybrids and we still hear nursery men telling one another to destroy seedlings and limit meri-stemming of orchids to limit supply in order to keep orchid prices high and make orchids hard to get; such an utterly selfish attitude to not allow more people to enjoy nature’s beauty and fragrances right here in Australia. Other countries sell mature and flowering plants in immensely generous numbers, and we get a miserly lot
Why that irritating noise? Use natural sounds next time please.

Loved watching this and the 3 comments below cover the points Id have made,
Happy I found this channel it's so amazing getting to know different types of orchid
Hi there. Trad is a massive problem around Lane Cove and all around Sydney. I am so please to know that biological controls are being investigated and tested. Commelina cyanea is a closely related to Trad but is a native. Hopefully any biological control will not damage plants like that. Thanks for the video. What a pitty it isn't getting more views.
Great Man!
Hi there, do you think it's more effective to spray younger, smaller trad rather than the more established, denser plant? My plan is to rake back the more established patches on my property and then spray it when it comes back. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Callum, often thick trad will need several sprayings as the upper layers block it from touching the lower layers and it may not spread through the whole plant. If the area is sensitive with ferns and natives raking and spot spraying can be a great combo.
Awesome thanks for the reply. There is no natives, just trad. But I want to plant lots of grasses to hopefully out compete the trad. I'm in Upwey btw, thanks again
@@callumnicholson5416 Nice, I lived in belgrave for awhile. If it was me, I would just give it several sprays and it it hard. Then plant Lomandras and other broad leaf herbicide tolerant species. Some native grasses are sensitive to starane if thats what you are using.
Thanks, what's the best herbicide to use?
@@callumnicholson5416 definately starane. Not round up. Have you tried getting into contact with local groups? CWAD, SREA, CCLG? They may be able to take care of it for you.
