    • @gabrielbarnhart
      @gabrielbarnhart 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure thing. I used a Team Mini Max 6 gallon tank (5 gals + air) haha. It's in the wing. Make sure you have the tank on hand when building because it's about a half inch wider than the root bay in the original LE plans. From there the fuel runs through a filter (temporary setup in the video) and then to a header tank (JAZ dragster fuel cell). I did this because I didn't like the air bubbles my 37hp Casler-built engine (single Zenith carb) was pulling through the gas line, and as a backup fuel gauge. That's pretty much it. Good luck and blue skies!

    • @randymack1782
      @randymack1782 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank You. Very understood, need "expansion" room, for side comment, are you familiar with Smokey Yunik? Like using 1" fuel lines which might hold extra couple gallons, plus had inflatable bladder in fuel tank so would pass tech in NASCAR, decades ago. Then deflated during racing, he also "chilled" fuel, so when it got warm expanded, and would have full tank even after several laps. Lol..... Be safe and thank you again.

      From left to right my instruments are: Oil Pressure, Belite Altimeter / Air Speed, Altimeter (currently inop), Slip Indicator (bottom, level indicator from a RV), Tachometer (Tiny Tach), and Oil Temp. I will probably get rid of everything except oil pressure, tach and maybe add a dual EGT gauge; for simplicity. I am using push/pull cables (3/16th inch) from Air Craft Spruce for aileron control.

    Your aircraft may not needed to be registered or certified, and you may not need to have an airman's certificate or a current medical, all legal per FAR Part 103, but while flying you do still need to comply with the pertinent rules of the air, spelled out in FAR Part 91, of which, "buzzing" your friends is clearly a violation of ***Federal LAW*** and I suggest you familiarize yourself with that, lest behaviors like this lead the FAA to revoke FAR Part 103

    • @davidreid8727
      @davidreid8727 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      BS. 500 feet from any person, place or thing, per FAR's. Do YOU ** know** what his altitude was? REALLY??? Only he does. I "suggest" you lighten up on the guy...and ultralights in general. The first paragraph of your comment suggests to me you are not a fan of part 103 operations.

    • @time.5316
      @time.5316 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd like FAR 103 to stay just the way it's presently written. Busting FAR 91 ( watch the video again and note the treetops -- you know of any near-500 ft trees? ) is going to inspire the FAA to either revoke it or ammend it to include some sort of demonstrated knowledge of flight rules and basic airmanship. Oh, speaking of airmanship ... I repeat, watch the video again and note places where an engine failure would have resulted in an forced landing in someone's back yard. Is that good airmanship??

    • @time.5316
      @time.5316 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apology ( sort of ) - OK, granted it's been 23 years since I've been in aviation and the rules have changed since that time. I looked it up and it says, <quote> : FAR 91.1(e) This part does not apply to any aircraft or vehicle governed by part 103 of this chapter. <unquote> So my comments about "busting" FAR Part 91 were unwarrented and out of place and I apologize for them. However, the apology does not extend to my comments about airmanship, and I think the poster's video title is self-evident to his lack of respect ( or lack of knowledge - which has the same effect ) for that aspect. Also my opinions about the FAA's attitude toward this sort of flight behavior and their probable reactions to them. Believe me, I don't want any more restrictive part 103 and my gut instinct is that this lack of aircraft and airman regulation is probably a sort of an experiment by them to see what develops, and if they don't like what they see developing the experiment will certainly end after some innocent bystanders get killed.
