2016 Hyundai Tucson rear door fix. Doors wouldn't open, 10 minutes later they work again.
มุมมอง 140K3 ปีที่แล้ว
My Mom's 2016 Hyundai Tucson rear doors would not open. She asked if I could take a look at it so she wouldn't get charged a fortune at the dealership. I feel like this is a really easy fix that should be covered under a recall, but until then, don't pay to get it fixed. It can be fixed in under 10 minutes per door.
In Loving Memory
มุมมอง 753 ปีที่แล้ว
I lost someone very close to me on 3-17-2020. I can't remember a time in my life before then that he wasn't there. We were through many things together and no matter how hard times got, we never separated. Now that you're gone, I am learning to live without you, but life will never be the same. I think of you and miss you every day.

I'm in the process of remodeling a kitchen. I thought I would film the steps involved in making kitchen cabinets. My next video will be the drawers and doors of the cabinets.
Open design roof built over an existing deck
มุมมอง 3.5K4 ปีที่แล้ว
My friends asked me to design and build an open roof design over their deck. They helped me out with the labor and we were able to finish in just 50 hours. They are going to finish staining it and then we'll be able to add some lighting and a fan.

Deck building time lapse.

Building a deck for a friend, I thought it would be a good idea to set up the GoPro on time-lapse mode. I did have a song as background music, but needed to remove it as to not break any copyright laws.
carissa on piano
มุมมอง 1378 ปีที่แล้ว
Carissa came over this weekend and absolutely loved the new piano. She has never played before, but she wanted me to teach her. I first taught her how to read music, then where the notes are on the piano. She didn't want to stop playing. This is early Sunday morning. Either she's a fast learner, or she had a really great teacher...lol
Birthday present jewlery box for my Wife
มุมมอง 598 ปีที่แล้ว
I wanted to make my Wife something special for her birthday. I made her a huge wall hanging jewelry box. Now I just need some money to purchase some jewelry. haha
Just a massive thank you, im no machinac but like you said it took 10 min to do and so simple thanks to your guidance, your a star👏🏻
Brilliant video, thank you so much, saved us a lot of money! 👍
How this isn’t a recall is absolutely mind blowing to me. Imagine dying in a burning or sinking car because Hyundai is too cheap to fix this obvious design error that would cost them and the dealership next to nothing and hardly any time.
What brand are the new rotors?

So helpful, and thorough!
Here's the Hyundai TSB for this issue. They extend the warranty ten years, so it's likely people will need to know your clever fix. Thanks! static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10196574-0001.pdf
Awesome! I literally watched your video, walked out to my daughter's Tucson and within 5 minutes it was working perfectly. Thanks!
Hi Bud I know it's a old video but it's one of the best on TH-cam thanks am having trouble with my Hyundai Tucson front door when you lock then unlock it takes about 5 goes before it opens if you don't lock it seems to always open first time would this fix the problem I was just wondering some one I need to replace the unit thanks think you should do that video again with the cars older now from 2016 model
Just happened to my wifes 2017 Hyundai Tucson, ill try this first, thank you sir.
That’s hilarious, Joe!
Spot on! Thank you!!!!!
Excellent video, thank you so much for it. It did indeed take about 10 minutes - even with me pausing & rewatching the video steps.
Thanks for posting this. Had the exact same issue.
My wife's 2017 Elantra just started this problem on the left rear door. I learned from watching another TH-cam video, once you have clicked the remote twice to make sure the rear doors are unlocked, slap the car firmly, with an open hand, two or three times, just above the door handle on the outside and the door can be opened. However once you lock and unlock, you have to do it again. At least you can open the door to work on it. Tried several times and it worked every time. There is now a TSB for this issue to extend the warranty for 10 years for these latches on certain manufacture dates. Hyundai TSB 21-BD-006H. New latches have a different part number. Not sure if this applies in Canada. Will find out next week. UPDATE: TSB good in Canada. Our car is in service now having th elatch replaced under the extended warranty. It is a $700-$800 job per door.
Just did your fix on my 2012. It was a little different. But got it to work better. Was afraid to take tò much off as cable interlock was close?Make sure you check child lock if doors don't work. Mine not perfect but functional. Was quoted $800 to swap actuator. This was much better by me.Thank you Joe
Thanks Joe, this is great!
Sonata same thing. Only it won't open
I pushed on cable ,but still won't open. Both doors stuck shut. What a POS!
Do you know what other tool/tools you can use if a person doesn’t have what you used to saw down the metal piece so the latch could extend ?
It’s only plastic, so you can use a knife or snips if you wanted.
@@josephlombardo830 man thank you lol explained perfect
What about the outside handle? Inside trimmed loke this video but my outside handle has issue opening door
Question does modifying the inside handle also fixes the outside handle? On mine both insid3 and outside won’t open the door.
Has anyone found after doing this it still gets stuck after it's been locked and unlocked
Yes it didn't work for me
Great video. I replaced the passenger rear door entire latch but my drivers rear just started not to open and ordered another latch assembly for $45. But will try what you did and probably return it. Thanks for the info.
Hi Joe, thanks for the great video. it worked during the test run and after reinstalling the door panels, at first, but after using the automatic locks, the lock mechanism seems to negate this great fix. The doors open manually from the inside but hit and miss from outside after locking. It does open after 3-4 pulls. I removed about an 1/8 of material for the door handle so I don't think it's that. Any suggestions? Have you run into this issue? Maybe the lock cable is stretched also?
It was my Mom’s car, and I do not see her that often. She has not mentioned any issues since I fixed it for her, but I’m not sure. I heard that the company finally issued a recall, so maybe check to see if they’ll cover your repairs. If not, I don’t know when the next time is that I would get a chance to look at her car again. Sorry
@@josephlombardo830 Sounds good. Thanks
Thank you so much. I use my vehicle for my business and after 7 years of owning this vehicle it just suddenly locked me out. You’re video is a life saver.
Hello, what can I do if it’s on child lock ?
Just curious why not go to the other end of the cable and remove some of the length? I haven't done this yet but I need to do it on my 2016 Tucson Limited as I have the issue on the passenger rear door.
Please designa plans. Thankyou
Outstanding video! You are going to save a lot of people a lot of money with this fix. I've replaced the window regulators on both front doors on my wife's Tucson (another issue that is common for those vehicles) when the windows stopped working.
hi. does this trick works if the door latch only gets stuck after I lock and unlock the car? If so, I will try harder to pop the mask off the door.
Try to pull the cable with the screwdriver when it’s stuck. That will let you know if it works.
@@josephlombardo830 i can open the door with the screwdriver every time it gets stuck. and it gets stuck when i lock the car (or when it locks itself while driving). Since it costs basically nothing, I'll try my best to get the mask off and apply the fix.
I fixed my wife's car with this. Thanks! All the best.
My same door wasn't opening for 2-3days. I just tried the screwdriver trick and it worked! Thank you!
Thank you for the video. My wife’s 16 Tucson is doing this, however the child lock is on. Will this prevent the ability open the door from the inside with a screw driver?
I believe that it won’t open with the child lock on
I’ve been having this problem for a while now with the drivers side back door, so I’d load the kids in 1 side. Now both don’t work! Thank you SOOOOOOOOOO much bc we’re broke and DEFINITELY can’t afford a shop visit!
Theirs actually and extended warranty/tsb on the door latches them self for this issue. Not cable issue. It’s the latch them selfs wear out. 10yr unlimited mileage warranty
Thank you for this video, it helped me find the cable but it appears the cable has broken. At this point would it be best I take it to a mechanic, a body shop, or a Hyundai dealership?
I’d try the dealership first, because they did finally issue a recall on this issue. See if they’ll cover it under the recall before going elsewhere.
Друг, переверни колодки в верх ногами, что бы антискрип и отжим были сверху. Ты ошибся при установке. И обязательно смазывай пальцы направляющие, иначе закиснут.
VERY NICE THANK YOU
Hi! I just did this on my 2015 Tucson where both back doors did not open. The both still do not open from the outside but the inside handles are working fine now - which is the important bit for me! Thank You so much - took about 25 minutes to do both doors and save just over £1000 in garage fees. By the way - I also raised this with Hyundai as I believe it is a Health and Safety issue - no reply at all! Not great........ Brilliant video tutorial though - Thank You!
They ignored me to
It worked until I locked the door again, then it went right back to being stuck, maybe the lock mechanism ha s something to do with the cable
Thanks man, I fixed mine, from Australia...
Thank you for the video, very helpful, just did the rears, now onto fronts, will start on the wifes pathfinder now with no suprises!🙂
Bro never got the nut to work? Wheres the video where you mads the nut... the scews the easy part... nut...not so easy
What about the outside handle? Not gonna work from the outside without replacing the latch anyway?
Hi Joe I hope you doing well. I tried to fix my mrs car that have same problem. I manage to fix it from inside but car door still doesn’t open from outside. But once I opened it from inside car door works fine from both side. But when I locked the car with a remote and tried open the door from outside it doesn’t work. What I figured that car door have 2 stage lock system. I manage to open the first stage but second stage still not operational. I am not sure if I am making sense to you. For example you have to pull the door handle twice to open it. First pull make some click noise . It’s working from inside now but not from outside
I believe that over time, my mom’s car started doing the same thing as what you’re describing. I don’t live close to her and I’ve never gotten a 2nd chance to look at it to see if I could figure it out. Check to see if the local dealership is offering a recall repair on the doors, and sorry that the simple fix was not enough.
@@josephlombardo830 I contacted them last time as air con, windows actuators and doors they were all playing up. They just apologised and kind of told me to suck it up 😀
Man we just got this car last week and I didn't have the saw so I had to get one didn't know exactly how much to saw off so went little by little and all I spent was $40 to fix such a simple problem ty so much fr
Thanks for that great Diy Video. I just watched it and now be able to help a friend with his Tucson.
Bro turns a screw driver and breaks the sound barrier. Also that bottom latch indents my fingers every time I try to grab it lo lo I'm getting gloves
