If your system is made with intel ME in mind, disabling it, you will get a potatoe pc, especially if you spend 1-2k$. If you are actually cares about privacy buy two PCs, one for Evil internet, and another high performance PC never put its Ethernet to the internet. Perfect plan I think 🤷‍♀️, yeah costly but still you will save all awesome features of fully correct working intel me

Yeah, the people at Intel who implemented the management engine (and the glowies that bribed them) should be arrested and given 1 "unauthorized access of a computer" charge for every single intel chip sold since 2008. For more than two years I have searched for a problem witg Intel ME on my Thinkpad T520. It gets into some fault state where it shuts down after 30 minutes exact. I don't fucking care if it is enabled or not, but having an otherwise working laptop crippled is fucking annoying. I can sometimes get it to a different state, where it goes into recovery mode which is benign. But I can't reproduce whatever it takes to do so. Now I just stumbled upon this vid - alas me_cleaner does not work with the T520's QM67 chipset. But WHY ruin a great video with such horrible and Fucking annoying music? As the chances are it won't help me anyway I can't watch it tonthe end. You gave me a fucking headache!

Thank God I use my old Gateway XT for everything.

Considering these cameras generally sell for $40 to $60 nowadays, I really wouldn't call that video subpar. The firmware hack drastically improves the video quality too (just use the PTOOL program). The stock bitrate is an awful 15 mbps. With the hack, the bitrate is tripled to 45 mbps. These cameras just have a NEWS camera look to it (30 fps), not a FILM camera style (24p). Technically, the camera actually shoots 1080i at 60 fps -- it does shoot 60p at 720 HD resolution, though.

But what's the point if you're gona use an OS with is likely to have its own backdoor?
