SOG Powerpint Review - The Good and the Very Bad
If you wanna check it out or buy it amzn.to/3ZsHFkD
The use I mentioned and forgot to go back to is that I'll keep it in my toolbox and use it a super bit holder. In case I can use some of the tools in a pinch that would be great, and if not, it's a good handle for my bits.
This is a review of my SOG Powerpint after two months of use. TLDR: I think it's pretty overrated.

My Everyday Tech Carry Feat. Aer Cable Kit 3

The central part of the carry is the Aer Cable Kit 3 and this is sort of a review of that as w...

Swiss Card vs. SD Classic. Which is the best small EDC multitool?

Swiss Card vs. SD Classic. Which is the best small EDC multitool?
Not exactly apples to apples. I think LOOKS should have gone to SAK since scales ar interchangeable--and takes but a moment to free-up your knife. As for scissors, Roxon has big ones--good for heavy jobs. SAK has small ones good for prices jobs. Maybe a tie. So, in my view scoring would have been very close. If you had chosen the Explorer then Phillips driver would have gone to SAK. The Roxon saw looks small and weak. But overall, the Roxon rocks-on!! I will look into other models. Thanks for vdo.
Can you swap implements like their Roxon flex companion via unlocking the switch or do you have to disassemble the frame? I like those scissors, but would want a 1/4” bit adapter too.
Roxon KS2 blade locks. Winner.
I'd argue that, given that the card ranges between $40 and $50+, it'd be more fair to compare the card to either the midnight manager, which is effectively the Rambler, but with the flashlight (All the rambler variants have the added bonus of the tools being oriented differently, making the knife far easier to wield without having to take it off the keychain) and pen, or even the minichamp, as there is already a pretty sizeable monetary difference between the $23 SD and the $50 Swisscard Lite (SCL). It is at the point where one could reasonably get the rambler AND the Quatro (The screwdriver from the card) for $10 and still be about the same as the Card. I ultimately agree though, that for casual carriers the card is probably better, especially for older folks who don't know how to operate a phone flashlight, as the magnifying glass and flashlight are actually useful for them, but many of the other comparisons aren't quite fair.
The accessibility issue can be mitigated with training and technique. You can use your index and thumb to pull a tool while using the thumb of your other hand to holds down the tools on one side, and the middle finger of the hand that is pulling can hold down the tools on the other side. Once you get use to it you can access the tools easily and quickly without pulling tools you dont intend to pull
It's all about the size. You learn to deal with the peculiarities of the tool. I've got a bunch of multitools - mostly Leatherman. There's no other actually useful multitool that I can carry in my pocket along with my keys, Nitecore Tiny 2 flashlight and WORKPRO keychain tape measure without putting me in danger of losing my pants.
those considering this tool would be better off with a knipex Cobra xs and a Swiss Army Knife with whatever side tools they need.
I like m3 better.
I absolutely love it
I find myself having the same sentiments as your 3 "not to buy" lol. other than the awesome quality of bag construction, i wish they have the aer internal pocket system in this bag and it will be perfect. Thanks for your honesty.
Круто 👍👍👍
This is the Noah’s Ark of EDCs
Wow, great review! I was eyeing this bag, now you changed my mind..based on your review, seems like the Tomtoc T73 xpac would be perfect for you
His vision is totally personal. The bag is made to be put on a desk in orizzontal position and gives you the access to all the 3 compartments in a row. He bought a bag with a logical well explained by Evergoods CEO and say that it’s a reason to not buy the bag, it looks like I bought a car and I would complain I that has 4 wheels and not 2 like a motorbike. Don’t get you fooled by a TH-cam video. The bag is not perfect, the handle just cuts your hands and the comfort is not the best, but surely has a unique personality given given by Evergoods and it’s not dull For me today is Able Carry Max EDC the closest to perfection (I said closest, not that is perfect), but CPL has a big soul and a fantastic crossover looks
@ what i didn’t like is it’s for lefty and there’s no mirror edition on their website..
It's a bit silly giving a point to the Roxon for the saw. You could easily have chosen a SAK that had all the tools that the Roxon had for a fair comparison. IMO the SAK's saw is far superior to the Roxon, locked or not.
The true elephant in the room is the price. The Swisscard used to be $20+ dollars just a few years ago. Now they go for $40+ to $50+, while the Classic SD is still $20+ dollars. At the newer inflated price, that considerably opens up what you should be comparing it to. You can get the Compact or Camper or Tinker or Hiker or Huntsman or Fieldmaster are all around the same ballpack of the various versions of Swisscards. And there are still plenty of Swiss Army Knives that are in the $20 or $30 range. There is a point to be said about having it on you. But at double the price compared to a few years ago makes it a little hard to swallow. Additionally, you're right that the scissors is great. And that can be purchased separately for $8. Combine those two things, and you get Todd Parker's Lightest EDC video, where he makes a wallet EDC piecemeal which includes those scissors.
maybe you're lazy
For similar dimensions and weight, compare the KS2E against the Victorinox Ranger. They can be found for similar prices too. The Ranger blows the KS2E out of the water though. Nearly double the amount of functions and much better quality. I got the KS2 and ended up giving it away. I love Roxon’s innovation but they’re light years away from Victorinox. A lot of the other tools could easily give Leatherman a run for their money, especially the Flex. They’re much more similar in style and target market (steel grades, locking blades) to Leatherman than Victorinox.
Respect your opinions 👏
This is now the 15th review video I’ve seen of this pouch and still nobody showing how it prints inside of a front pocket
Never struck me as a front pocket pouch. Feels too big for that. Then again I'm not much of a front pocket guy.
Roxon looks just too ugly and cheaply made
Ugly is subjective. But it certainly doesn't look or feel cheaply made to me.
I enjoyed your differentiated review. Re: left vs. right design, in firefighter training "left is life" is drilled into you for carrying your SCBA. I'm not sure if the cofounders of EG know that or purposely incorporated that philosophy into their designs but that's why I assume the left orientation came first. As you probably know, there is a mirrored version to address those people who carry a bag on their right side. Regardless, I'd be interested to know your thoughts on the Aer City Pack Pro, since it's similar to the CPL24 but distinct in its own ways. Thanks!
The newer Roxon elite also comes with a pouch and a set of precision bits and holder that extends the driver.
IMO way too picky regarding deploying the tool you want, as well as the complaints regarding unlocking. Suppose the tool (and well.. all tools) should be handled by those that have a good degree of mechanical ability/skill. Those of us that are more dexterous navigate this tool with no issue.
Victorinox still better
Best tool I’ve ever got
You forgot the saw! Look at the word elite and pick it open
@AboutThings_byTarif No new videos??? 😢
Does the red pouch come with the S557..?
No. Bought separately on Amazon. I think it's on Victorinox's website now. Or at least I saw it a couple of months ago.
@ looks great, but couldn’t find one anywhere
No
have sog power pint for about 2 years now, the accessibility problem will be less of the problem if you actually use it often and get the hang of it on how to get to the tools that you want to use, it been in my jean small pocket whenever i go outside and have come in handy many times
I think it was made for people with longer fingernails
I'm my opinion it's a comprised for having such much of a tool density for its size for the price it's packed with tools like the victorinox swisstool but ever too has it own spring on those and the price shows
The CTB26 griffin edition does seem to improve on these points as it uses softer materials plus it has a water bottle holder. Sold my bag and am waiting on a revision because, apart from the points you mentioned, I loved the utility and looks.
The Victorinox will last longer because you use them much less frequently LOL. Another point for KS2E is its G10 scale. Have you seen 3rd party G10 scales price for Victorinox?. Roxon win it for me mainly down to the ease of use. I wouldn't dream of one-hand open Victorinox's main blade, while KS2E 's only need a swipe.
The ease of use is a huge point in favor of the Roxon. I don't see it lasting for as long as the Victorinox but it's by no means flimsy in any way. There are definitely G10 scales out there but for some odd reason I really dislike modded Swiss Army knives 🙂
Garbage video. It is not overrated. Bye.
Great to see this video, can you let me know the ks2e is comfort for left-handed people?
If you can do without the big scissors, look into Roxon's flex companion. It's modular and you can order it with the option of a left hand blade (make sure to specify)
You make good points about the design. Sometimes I think bag designers try to get too cute with their designs forgoing functionality for looks and the need to be unique from competing bags. I notice this trend is more common with many current high-end bags. I found some the most functionally designed bags are the low-cost bags sold on Amazon.
Is anyone else’s blades wobbly when open? Mine wobbles up and down. Guess it won’t stop it from working since it’s sturdy when using it. Just wondering .
Good enough video. Interesting pouch. BUT…. Precursuring the comment with the following: an opionion (and this is mine) is like an @sshole, everybody has got one…. The uhhh, uhhh, uhm, uhm, ahh, ahh is making me click out. The 7P principle applies here: Prior Preparation and Planning Prevents P!ss Poor Performance. I will keep an eye on this channel, but will not follow yet or subscribe. (not that it matters I suppose). However, you are doing yourself a major injustice: your videography and audio is real good. Sad that you fall flat otherwise.
I don't mind so much the accessibility issues with outside tools, and the thing with the scissors is they're left handed.
Bro, it's a tie. You can't deduct points for the lack of saw when you picked the model, and same goes for the screwdriver. They have models like the Explorer that have an inline Phillips.
BS
I like that you chose some real solid writing instruments unlike others who just get the most expensive ones or the most popular ones (for attention).
Please try Lamy PICO & Uniball ONE P & YSTUDIO ballpoints & mech. pencils. These options are underrated as well
Oh my god! Boring
Thanks!
Thank you for the video, we appreciate your support!
You guys are doing awesome work. Can't wait to get my hands on the Flex. I think it'll be a game changer. So thanks for your comment and keep doing new things.
At 6:54 Vicrorinox had 3 points, then went back to 2.. Was the final score actually 6 Roxon, 5 Victorinox?
I guess if you frequently 'rely' on a compact multi-tool daily, I could agree more with your overview. In my case, it's just a nice little convenient sub 40 dollar compact foldable plier, with decent jaws, & cutters. I see the rest of the tools, including the 1/4" bit holder used more as an 'In a Pinch' type situation . . . convenient when there's no other option I don't really expect much more for the price point. If this tool helps Me, or I'm able to help someone else out even once , when nothing else is available . . . then it was golden and money well spent. IMO something similar with better specs, tolerances, materials, and craftsmanship would bring the price up to the point of defeating it's purpose . . . an inexpensive, compact multi-tool.
Just ordered mine
Enjoy!
It might beat the classic sd, but there’s no way it beats the midnight manager, P.S. I did very much enjoy your video, thanks 🙏🏻
Nice video, but I'm still waiting for you to review that lego set in the back.
