Currently hyperfixation is working on a dungeon crawler game in Godot. I don't really know what this channel is supposed to be yet.

Godot 4.4 dungeon crawler - Mini map update
มุมมอง 1513 หลายเดือนก่อน
Got a mini map working now. I haven't figured out a good solution for fog of war. I was trying to do it with that cloud shader but just ended up making neat moving clouds instead.

Finally got death transitions working in game... The reaper comes for us all... If you want to hear the entire death song there is another video uploaded on my channel you can listen to the entire thing.
Drawing cubes on a grid in game in Godot 4.4
มุมมอง 333 หลายเดือนก่อน
Based off the basic concept of an old game I played in 2008 that is long since defunct, I started trying to figure out if I could make something similar. Not too bad for a couple hours of work. Apparently I'm just obsessed with cubes for some reason. Idk lmao.

Worked really hard on this push block mechanic and it has all sorts of fun and interesting possibilities for puzzles.

Adapted Portal Test in Godot 4
มุมมอง 634 หลายเดือนก่อน
Original Demo can be found here: th-cam.com/video/KZZ3Xw9sfvE/w-d-xo.html I had to adapt and change some parts of the script for my own use to make it work with my player character such as changing from a characterbody3D to a RigidBody3d which required a bit of code reworking. It's janky and I have no idea how to fix some of the weirdness.

Automap Test in Godot 4
มุมมอง 1.8K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
This morning's project was getting a fog of war style automap working a bit. I used a coded grid of black squares over the top of a tilemap, with a 3 x 3 collision box and a camera attached the player. Anytime the collision box hits a black square, it gets erased with some tween animations to make it look a bit nicer. Simple but effective.

I think you chose the wrong engine to make a 3D game.. in Unity you can literally do all this in a day or two and it would probably be the same in Unreal Engine, because they have a lot of 3D stuff ready out of the box.. btw: if something works you shouldn't touch it and if you want to improve it make a backup first.. anyway, I'm sure if you figured it out once, you'll figure it out again..
I like how smooth color shift, what app/program did you use for this if you don't mind me asking?
I programmed it in Godot 4.
Looking good man. I hope to see your game on steam.
Maybe in 5 years at the rate I'm going.
@@Talewhipforge Maybe you need to MVP it. Minimum viable product. Make it really small. Like a small demo and skip water trees and outside things. What if we skip animation and just use statues. It could switch between passive and attack and nothing in between. Just see how it goes and get input from people.
Might and magic thingamabob
That is the idea :)
It’s like underwater but not underwater xD i did smth similar but I actually flooded my game with a water shader
Hahaha find a way to reuse the functionality. I ended up using this shader for the "Death Screen" and it works great!
Neat! Why in 4.4 tho?
I always update to the latest version.
if you wanna shoot me a message i have a dungeon crawler in godot 4 im working on thats pretty similar as a secondary project, id love to show you it and see if you get some ideas that could help you out!
Yeah I would love that! Thanks!
neat
The blocks are moving SMOOTH
good stuff 👍
Loving the chill music.
reminds me of those oldschool DOS RPGs like ADOM, very cool
Pretty nice
Nice
love the ps2 pixel low res graphics so nostalgic
Impressive
I’m in the same seat as you basically (also doing a dungeon crawler in Godot). Have you looked at the Godot State Charts plugin?
I have never once gotten a godot plugin to work. Idk why plugins are so fiddly but I will look into it.
@@Talewhipforge I was vary about plugins in Unreal, but now that I'm on Godot I'm really going to town with them (because Godot has much less built in than Unreal). 😄
Have you played/watched Inscryption? You may like the aesthetic and get some inspiration from it.
I have not but it's on the backlog along with 10,000 other games.
What a great video. I'll be making my own game soon too. "Fail Upwards" is beautiful! Thanks for the video. I'll sub to. Keep going!
Proud of you champ
What has your experienced with using Godot been like?
It's got a lot of quirks. It's very good overall but it definitely isn't as mature as Unity or Unreal Engine.
@@TalewhipforgeI can definitely feel that, even in the 2d side of the engine
Looks pretty nice! Good luck!
The combat Will be turn based or Just evade the enemies
Ideally turn based is my goal.
@@Talewhipforge yeahhh i love turn based games cant wait to play your game
Looks very good. I like The old school movement
Subbed!
Thank you :)
1st!
But am I welcome to Legend of the Serpent's Tale?
It's like I walked into a wall, and it said "You can't go that way!" And it was 100% true, I couldn't!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
make crawling slower than normal movement, otherwise, great job!
Good job
Keep going sir
Thank you, I will
Nice one
I can't believe that a text box displays text.
Looking good!
Thanks!
Hahaha I was doing exactly the same thing with the WorldEnvironment stuff just the other day
It's so much fun just farting around with the numbers and levers and seeing what kind of bizarre stuff happens.
"Making a working lever which I broke shortly after this video". Dude I feel that, I'm making great progress on level design recently but I can't test it because my Character scene is currently in redevelopment and idgaf about version control and shit because I'm not a NERD LMAO
I just have like 4 or 5 different versions of the game on my hard drive. It's not efficient but I can't be bothered to make a github.
definitly has something. i know youre just messing around, but maybe put a delay between the lever and the gate opening? otherwise the player wont see the gate open if hes facing the lever up close. just a thought
Bleeding edge technology
This is such a refreshing video. No gloating, no overly self-critical commentary, no preaching. Just game development progress. Keep at it!
Yeah I don't like that clickbait stuff. I am not here to try to trick people into watching my tiny little niche game project to get views and likes.
very good progress
I watched what I came for, no clickbait
Revolutionary product
Very impressive, good job 👏
Looks really smooth for a first project! You're making great strides!
@@skiesquiggles7319 thanks 🙏
I cant wait for this technology to be implemented in every game
Very nice. I like it when text is displayed
such an amazing system, it displays texts.
This is a leap in many different branches of technology
As a deaf person, I can confirm
Awesome
