All I’m gonna say is y’all really had to stretch to find issues with expository preaching when they all boiled down to presentation. We don’t “topical study” any other book, why do we think it’s ok to do it to scripture. Let scripture interpret itself.
Thanks for nice information thank you Jesus
Here's something that you should know about Ministry Pass. I don't recommend Ministry Pass based on my experience with a subscription that I made by mistake. Consider this. I'm the pastor of a church in Forest Grove who was looking for a slide for my series on King David. Ministry Pass had what I was looking for, so I decided to sign up for a free-trial. They have some good stuff. Unfortunately, I got busy and didn't take the time to really look at all they had to offer. I also forgot that my trial was coming to an end (think of how often this happens to all of us.) When I got billed, I contacted their customer service to ask if they could please cancel my subscription. Our church suffered some financial challenges through COVID and can't currently afford the cost associated with the subscription. As a Christian organization, you'd think that they'd extend me some grace, but they didn't. They're willing to have a reluctant, unsatisfied customer paying them their monthly subscription fee than a happy one who can feel good about the ministry of their company. Is that the kind of ministry you want to support? I don't. But unfortunately, I have to. At least for this year. Sad. Rudy Tinoco www.oldtownfg.com

Wow I have already began sorting out my thoughts and coming up with a plan to make this manageable. Thanks again. Chef's kiss to both of you. This was good for me 😊
Love this video. Opened up my mind on how to go about preparing My message. I didn't realize until now how Hasty I am. When I get something in my mind I feel/felt like I have to write it out All of it now. But my thoughts overwhelm me and I am flooded with so much. I just also learned that I can pick the day to talk about my message and work on it in manageable pieces and it will give me time to think about my audience and the level they may be on. I've been studying the Bible now for 42 years now and have learned a great deal. I just didn't know how to share it effectively. This is awesome 😊
Thank you!
A few days ago, I had to pause after realizing how much I had strayed from context because I was preparing a topical sermon. I like expository sermons more.
( Church of the seven thunders). The God of Israel says to you, you are a liar you cannot repent this is what your fate will be. and the devil that decevied them was thrown into the lake of fire where the beast and the false lying preacher will be and they shall be tormented day and night forever and ever. Rev 20: 10). this is the fate of all those that lied to Gods people.😅
Sitting here wondering how Jesus and the early church survived without all these great ideas. The Lord builds His church. We just need to be faithful in loving and serving His sheep.
Here's another principle I like.....all church employees sign the NDA so you can't talk about anything bad that is going on within the church....otherwise the church will sue you.
I like the one Megachurch principle that goes on Joel Osteen's church.....hide 600 thousand dollars in the wall in the men's bathroom after you report it stolen to the authorities and the insurance company for "contingency purposes"....
Thank You. Excellent plan.
Fun fact, Barq's has caffeine.
I guess church graphic design is pretty niche. This video is a lot of effort for such few views and subscribers.
I absolutely love my small church. Would never go to a mega again!
Seven Reasons Why You Must Invest in Personal Development 1. You don't have a choice (Hebrews 12:1-2) 2. Change waits for no one 3. Relationship builders 4. Stay short 5. Personal safety 6. Healthy pastors makes a healthy Church 7. A guide needs a map
if you wait till Thursday for a Sunday sermon thats your own fault. how stupid
Dude just threw topical preaching under the bus... "over and over"...... seriously.... there are 52 weeks in a year man. I've never repeated myself.
notice the young age of the two hosts here. This debate is the same debate as contemporary music versus hymnal music. Expository sermon you dont need to write your own sermons. makes a lazy pastor
Expository is very boring. Congregation looks tired and bored. I preach topical....
Rest and rally
Cant take a guy serious if he says he hates rootbeer.
Great video. I planted a church 20 years ago, as a bivocational pastor, any thoughts on doing a video to help bivocational plant pastors with limited time?
Yes show me how.
Add another service instead of adding on
This has been a great discussion! Sharing with the pastors group I lead.
How do I identify a Processor?
I am excited about this subject
Dude and I will not call anything else until the Lord reveals to me that your other than that your baby minister want to be because you’re bad mouthing a youth minister and you’re doing the same thing as him so go look at the mirror and point yourself because on this program only dead but a minute and that was all your young ministers are coming up at disrespect the older minister that been through way more than what you’ve been through. Yes, you’ve been through a small amount to get your taste buds wet just a little bit. here’s what comes to me. Why don’t you call that Little bit, but nothing at the old ministers have been through and you’re just like this generation who want to throw the old ministers out the door and your congregations bag for it and then you wonder why a few years later you’re closing the doors up because the first sign of the doors don’t tell me you didn’t shut the doors During COVID-19. No, there’s what you did. You go apologize to the minister down the road that you badmouth on the show and every other minister that you’re referring to. You’re the type that gets rid of the hymns books you might have a Bible sitting in a bookcase all your stuff is on your tablet and without the Internet you couldn’t function with dying so apologize to the old soon very soon or something very big coming to United States. That’s gonna make Covid 19 look like a walk in the park have a great day.🕶️
I would love to read that book looking forward to have it , thanx
As someone serving at a very small church, this such was a helpful discussion!
Isaiah 30:1 KJV Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: I don't know whether they ask god what they should preach or not but our pastor when he needs to preach in church he will ask God then god will him the verses he should preach and through the verses god speaks what is in their heart to explain it its like the word of wisdom and word of knowledge
This is all nice but extremely centered around planting in United States with a core team of already believers. This is not going to be helpful to those of us seeking to start churches organically from new converts and with out a core team of people but boot strapping it from zero
I would love to have the book
Like the book
I'd like this book
I'm thankful for your willingness to touch on this subject. However, it feels more like "7 Tips to Starting a Business" - The last thing the world needs is another rich, shell church. This really feels like the focus is quantity over quality, which is opposite from what most other advice that I've found on the topic. I know that you would likely deny that as being the aim of the video, but of all the advice out there, why choose only the advice that focuses on finance and attendance numbers? The only 3 tips I found sound were planning out ministry focus topics, continuing to seek help and mentoring for the plant even if it is outside the church, and consider working with or even merging with like-minded ministries - though all 3 of these are best practices for church ministry in general and not specific to church planting.

Regarding your comments- reading off the reasons as to why people are leaving. One standing out to me were the comments that said sexual freedoms being limited/hindered (not the exact verbage). They are looking for sin to be condoned! They want Christians to say its okay. But the bible doesn't say that! So now we see denominations holding votes to stay with a certain confessional stance. Revelation warns what will happen to churches that will condone sin and allow for it to be exercised within its congregants. Disappointing that these men didn't delve into these! As someone who has been harmed by evangelical pastors, i go to church because God commands his followers to not forsake the gathering. This means you'll run into false believers within church because Christ has not separated the weeds from the true crop yet! Disappointing to hear pastors not touch on the gospel and the true believer's duty to make propper disciples. Most western churches are weak in their theology- which is why i think reformed theology is making a comeback.
Part of the problem is a lot of rubbish fundamentalist gender comp theology is overlapped into churches like bethel and elevation.
enough spineless, watered down, relativistic mealy-mouthed, laser lights, church circus entertainment
nothing is said here about Jesus and the Good News that we can have a relationship with God. These guys are talking heads
Thanks for the info! Very useful! I'll have to check out the book.
It is encouraging to hear that 100% of people are willing to return to the church. I am seeing younger families searching for a church community for their children and prioritizing church. I live in an inner city in Massachusetts, so this is very encouraging for us. We started monthly Fellowship Meals three months ago and almost everyone stays after the service to eat and have fellowship with others.
I’d love the book. Glad you guys are back!!!
I want this book ❤
Thank you!
