Climbing PICO DE ORIZABA, a 5636 m high volcano!
มุมมอง 2.8K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
I set out to climb Pico de Orizaba, also known as Citlaltépetl or Iztactépetl. It is a stratovolcano that rises to 5636 m / 18,491 feet above sea level. It is the highest mountain in Mexico and third highest in North America. The volcano sits on the border between the states of Puebla and Veracruz. Although dormant the volcano is not extinct and last erupted in 1846.

This is how I climbed Mont Blanc | The full ADVENTURE

In this video I bring you along as I climb to the summit of Mont Blanc (4809 m) the highest mountain in the Alps and Western Europe. This video will show you the classic mountaineering itinerary of preparing and acclimatizing on Gran Paradiso, the rest day and the climb of Mont Blanc via the Normal Route (also called Gouter Route), that takes me through the the Grand Couloir and past the Tête R...
Can you fit all the stuff in that backack on the approach? Also, are you Danish? =)
Yes, it does! I show that at the very end of the video ☺️ And yes, I am Danish and live in Copenhagen!
Fantastisk. Bjergtagende! I ordets allermest oprindelige betydning. Smuk, smuk film <3
Tusind tak for de pæne ord Tore! Og tak for at kigge med :)
Beautiful! What dates was this hike?
Thank you for watching! We hiked the first week of August last year :)
Would you like to go to Iceland?
Epic video dude. What incredible scenery!
Thanks a lot Eamon! Iceland did not disappoint.
very good
Thank you very much!
Amazing!!!! ❤
Thank you! It is definitely one of the most beautiful places I've been.
Absolutely majestic scenery my friend, this looks and feels amazing! Iceland is something special!
Thank you friend! Iceland for sure is exceptional. Now I just want to go back!!!
Optur! Tak for at dele, venner. 🍉🖤
Tak for at kigge med <3
amazing... but sad to know that glaciers are dissapearing in almost all big mountains....
Very sad! It will change alpinism and many of the famous peaks.
Please advise how did you choose 66cm over 59cm ice axe, and what are your height? Thanks in advance!
When I hold the axe down by my side, it reaches my ankle. That works for me :)
Mate the smile on your face says it all!!
Haha totally!
Thank you for taking me along on your journey. Great job!
You are welcome, thanks for watching!
Keep going bro, you got a nice channel. Shout out from France
Thank you man! That means a lot
how did you get the blisters?
From climbing Gran Paradiso :/
a good movie. Do you think it is possible to complete this route solo? whether there were any technical difficulties
Thank you! I wouldn't advice going alone unless you are an experienced mountaineer. The glacier is steep and there is always a risk of falling in a crevasse.
@@rasmuspreston thanks for your answer and best regards🤞🏻✨
Great video, I just dont understand why you tried it unacclimatized....that has been very naive
I wont argue it was stupid. I joined a group of American friends who are sometimes a bit too optimistic with their weekend adventures haha. I decided to give it a shot anyway and learned a ton. And I still enjoyed the trip :)
You were lucky that turning around was all you had to do. 6300 meters without acclimatizing was a foolish enterprise.
For sure was. Learned a lesson :)
Wow 😮
Thank you :D
how did you find your guide? If you were to do it again would you hire a guide? what were the specific requirements of the guide including cost?
Hey, I’m 13 years old and I most likely will be climbing the Mont Blanc next Sept. I was hoping if you could give any advice before I climb?
Stunning. Really nice video. I nearly got emotional with you on the summit as I imagined myself summiting with you. One day 🙏🏻
Great video! You deserve more subs!
Congrats brother!!💪
Excellent story telling, keep it up!
Thank you so much!
Amazing video , great job! I will try to climb mont blanc next summer , can i ask you how do you train in the months before the climb to arrive fit for this challenge?
Briliant, thanks for sharing this. What vlog kit did you take and how did you set up?
Nice video mate, thanks. I am starting my training now ready for September Mont blanc climb. Cheers
Hi Rasmus. Really nice video! It helped me a lot getting my gear setup right. I ended up with an almost identical list, as I'm a big Arc'teryx fan too. I'm heading out to Mont Blanc this June and I want to capture our trip using a GoPro. I was wondering which mount you where using and if you have any tips for me. Thanks! Best regards, Philippe
Hey there which company did you use for the climbing?
congrats!! amazing footage - when did you do it?
Hey!! I am going to Ecuador next fall and I want to climb and ski!! I’d love to get in contact with you about guide companies and such if you would be willing!
Thank you for making a great video. Inspiring.
Great video !!! One day I will climb the volcanoes of my country. Correction: There are no wolves in Ecuador. The animal that ecuadorian guide mentioned is a FOX not wolf. Greetings from NYC.
Great video and great post. I was there back in March and also turned around. This vocano is a beast and a tough slog. I will be back in January 2024 for a second attempt. Thanks for posting.
Did you go back and finish?
@@wes4619 we went back. Me and 2 of my sons. Sadly . I was burnt out and stayed at high camp to rest. My younger son. Made it to 18900 feet and turned around after vomiting from altitude sickness. My older son did make the summit. So the expedition waa not a total loss. We also summited Cayambe, Anisa Sur and Pinchincha Guagua. Side note. My youngest son is going back in 2 weeks for a third attempt. Lets see what happens.
Fantastic drone shots, pictures, and great climbing footage and all around excellent description of the conditions to climb Pico de Orizaba! What organization did you use to climb Orizaba?
Thanks David! I used www.summitorizaba.com/ and was very pleased. I would give some advice. I stranded in the Puebla bus station and had to take a cab two hours to get to Tlachichuca. So check the schedule. And if you have experience with mountaineering then ask for a fit guide who can match your pace :)
Stærkt bror! Fantastisk smukke billeder <3
Tusind tak brors! Glad for, at du ville se den <3
Great Vid Ras. I climbed Pico with Larry - in early Jan last year and there was a lot more snow than it looked in your climb. That refuge hut was one of the noisiest I've been in for sure!
Thanks Jeremy! It was all bone dry when I was there in February. I have never been so dusty as when we got back haha. But yeah, the hut doesn't deserve 3 stars after that night haha. Had maybe 2-3 hours of bad sleep. I think it is worse than the hut on Rainier!
Awesome video man, i like the relaxt vibe in your video's keep it up!
Thank you so much. Really happy you liked it. There are just so many hyped up people on TH-cam, and that's not me. So I am a little nervous about that. Will my videos do well without the hyper positive personality etc. Your comment made my day :)
@@rasmuspreston keep doing you, i like the sound of the mountains more than overhyped music, cheers💪🏻💪🏻
I could tell the second I saw you you weren't going to make it Your breathing hard that's never a good sign I see this more and more these days You have to relax Be one with the mountain And take however long is required It's not a race and it's certainly not a stress!
For sure. Next time I will acclimatize and do it proper :) Jumped on this opportunity with some friends who had already planned it, so I didn't have any say on the itinerary.
Peer pressure can be very very good or very very bad please learn the difference You live on an absolutely breathtaking planet there are over 1400 mountains to climb but none of this will count for anything if you overdo it!
I came across a video where a guy wrapped duck tape around trekking pole so you have more than one piece in case of. :)
That is a good idea!
Congrats, nice video, Chimborazo is on my list.may be in the end of this year. Thanks for sharing.
looks easy
You should go do it!
Good climb but if you really want to stop climate change then don't burn all that carbon jumping all over the globe for your personal pleasure.
Congrats!
This channel is a gem 💎
Thank you so much!
Hey Rasmus, I'm planning on climbing this mountain next summer, would you happen to have the contact information for your guide?
Hey! Shoot me a DM on instagram (@rasmuspreston) and I'll give you the contact info :)
which month was that
September
thx for sharing, what month did you attempt Chimborazo?
Thanks for watching! I went in February.
😅
