Wasps in a very green Mammoni fig.
Here I cut open a very hard and green Mammoni fig with a closed ostiole to see what activity I would find. A great deal more than I expected, so I'm thinking these wasps were in there wandering around waiting for a path to be cleared so they could escape, to pollinate?

Male and Female wasps in a Mammoni fig.

I opened this fig to get a good look at the life of the male and female wasps, going about what they do. It was a green fig, with the eye closed with no wasps making their way out. I left this fig on a table in the sun for about an hour to be sure no wasps were issuing. I was not expecting life inside yet.

Here was see male fig wasps fertilizing the females in the gall flowers cutting escape holes for them. We also see a wasp making her way out of a gall.
Several Fig Wasps exiting the fig, and then eating?

I have read that it is not known if fig wasps ever eat in their very short life, but here we have several around the fig ostiole that seem to be in no hurry to leave and pollinate, instead they all appear to be feeding, or possibly stuck in a web placed by the tiny insect we see running off here.

Here we see several fig wasps coming from inside a Caprifig and dusting excess pollen off of their wings and their bodies, before going about their work pollinating figs. One or two grains of pollen is all that is needed to pollinate each fig.

Solid gold! haha
Cycle News volume 61 issue 50, December 17, 2024 brought me here...and I'm glad it did! Sure brings back the memories.
At 4:29 - the legendary John Mcgowan and Kookie the Wonder Dog! AMA District 37 desert racing heroes, they had a moment in the greatest motorcycle movie of all time, Bruce Brown's "On Any Sunday". Cool!
Very good info, thanks!
Nooooooooo disassembly of Johnny Z-1
I had one 1978 Z1R silver blue with a Kerker k&n air filters bigger jets, with advanced electronic 😢ingnition …unfortunately was stolen in march/17/1979 with a key with the same code from another Z1R (both bikes where bought from same dealership in Woodbridge, New Jersey…kind crazy…) from a guy in my area…still today my favorite motorcycle👍🏼
11:05 LÁ LÁ LÁ LÁÁÁ AAAAAAAH KABOOMMM ...
"Let the good times roll"!
I have an 85 GPz 750 turbo. It is a lot of fun to ride. Only problem is whenever I ride it, people pester me if it's For Sale ?😅
makes me even more amazed at the Velocette 24 hr record in 1961, 100.05 mph. on a 500 cc single. now thats really something. Going to Montlhery banked track near Paris where they did it next week for the 100 yr anniversary of the circuit - it will be quite something to stand at that track and imagine the riders thundering past in the night to get that record.
I rode a tricked out H1 500 Cafe racer. Lusted after the Z1. Wonderful video. My Bud had the Z1R 1000. Lucky man👍
Those bikes were race bikes and nowhere near stock .
It worked Kawasaki! I'm still bigtime brand loyalist. I wander from time to time, but always come back to my greenhouse.
Miguel's PaaPaa. #17
I'm about to restore a 1983 KZ-550
This is Priceless,Love Anything Old School 🤘🏁
Strapping the cushion on the tank reminded me of the old board track racers. Never seen this video before, it's got old man DuHamel, the old Yosh team guys and causally smoking in pit lane.
LMAO, no record you braggards, he did not finish it, thats why clown shoes kicked in with the damage limitation straight away. Muppet. CBX6 killed this thing by '78
They should have produced a version with the speed record bodywork. Would ve been epic.
Could you imagine it with a quick shifter fitted 😊
Amazing sounds from that amazing engine 😮😊
Very therapeutic 😎👍
すげえ、こんなvideoが現存したとは。 工業遺産だな。
I had a 2001 ZRX 1200R for a few years. Awesome, awesome bike.
I graduated High School in 1975, remember the classic motorcycles from the mid 60's when HONDA flooded AMERICA with cheap reliable cool bikes to the 70's Muscle Bikes and beyond. Grew up in a cool time. In 69' HONDA gave the World the CB750, it wore the Crown until the 73 Z1 came to Dealerships and took the Crown! I rode HARLEYS all of my adult life and then I bought a new 2022 Z900RS which is a Retro modern issue of the Z1... Beautiful machine with all the modern technology. Tomorrow I'm taking delivery of a new 23' ZH2 SE. I gotta sit up straight so a Hyper-Naked bike w/197hp will join my 2011 RoadGlide & the 2022 Z900RS in the garage!... I'm thankful that my Dad bought me that 1st Kawasaki 100 dirt bike in 1969......that started the ADDICTION...😅
yoshimura mechanics, probably balanced and blueprinted motor and trans , ported heads, valve job...
🙂👍👍👍
The steak
Bikes may be faster and more hi tech than back then, but nothing was more cool than these men and machines that broke new ground. Z1's and Ivon will forever be remembered.
Have a '22 Z900 and a Z900RS. Started out on a KZ1000 many moons ago. Love Kawasaki 4 bangers. Still quality machines.
I own a B8S and a Z H2. I am a lucky fella. Thank you, Kawasaki.
They basically took over Bridgestone. The two strokes were basically throw away bikes as crank seals cost so much to replace. The Z900 and 1000's were very heavy until the J model. Z1000J was incredible, CAD designed for light weight of every single part and bolt.
Having the factory tools and having done the procedure many times beforehand makes this process looks simple. Without the speciality shop tools this process is in practice very difficult.
Set the playback speed to 1.25 or 1.5x. I own 2 kz650's and ride either one daily. 77C1 and 78B2. I prefer the B2 because of the spoked wheels. I wish the bars were drop bars from factory.
I had a Z1 , I didn’t know that went down at Daytona ! I loved that machine.
Bought mine brand new in 1975 will never forget that feeling riding it home from the dealer wished I still had it ! Long live the king !
I owned my 900z 1 for 40 years and had it to 200 miles an hour
Nice bikes. Kawasaki had to be really upset when in 1975 a motorcycle came out that made Z1 outdated and out classed by the Goldwing

19:34 these green machines with fanuc controls are likely still working i operated one 20 years ago
Can i go back in time and get one of these so nice
I can see why vintage prices are skyrocketing
Wow, this is so interesting, Kawasaki has always been my favorite brand!!! I've owned Z-1s, KZ900s, KZ1000s, and KZ650s!!! I've always wanted a '73-'75 H-1 500, or H-2 750, as well!!! Does Kawasaki let the good times roll??? Damn Right!!! Kawasaki Nate, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Ditto.
Z1 900 the king motorcycle
Pretty cool, I'm on my 5th Kaw now, not including the engine in my Redmax tractor.
Just got me a 2021 Z900RS.
Cool and very interesting film. You don't realize how many processes these motorcycles go thru being manufactured.
How interesting
Wow, this is so cool to see. Can you get this under a microscope too?
Thank you. I'm not sure about a microscope, but possibly.
