Ultra Bee Range Anxiety (Part 2)
Went further into the trails than I have in a long time. Went up some unfamiliar valleys and pushed the range of my Sur Ron Ultra Bee and my own endurance. I need to ride more!
Update: Noticed my Sur Ron app missed a big part of my ride. No idea exactly, but was likely closer to 30 miles total, which makes sense as I went reallllly slow for a huge part of the ride.

Ultra Bee Range Anxiety (Part 1)
มุมมอง 9337 หลายเดือนก่อน
Did a fun solo ride hitting some old trails. Got a little adventurous and went a bit deeper than I have ever been on the trails (even on my 2 strokes). Part 2 will be covering my escape as I worry about battery range. Sur Ron Ultra Bee Filmed in 4K on Go Pro 10 Black

Sur Ron Ultra Bee - Suspension Tuning and Trail Ride
มุมมอง 4.8Kปีที่แล้ว
Second trail ride on the Ultra Bee. Testing out some adjustments I made on the suspension. I went nearly full soft on the compression for the forks and stiffer on the shock even after adding more preload. I weigh 175 lbs without gear for reference. Bike is performing great and I'm very happy with how it's handling the technical Hawai'i terrain. New tires coming soon and I think I'm giving up on...

A lot of times when your suspension feels stiff or harsh, it can actually be because it’s too soft and you are blowing through the plush part of the stroke and getting into that stiffer valving
fun
What settings are you currently running for these types of conditions? Thanks!
I used to mountain bike those trails back in the day I feel like it's been 10 years
I'm riding the Kenda emx tires and they are pretty good
Do you know someone that supplies stiffer fork springs.. or even the bleed valve on top sometimes they make it into a valve that accepts a Schrader fitting so you can air up your shock along with the spring pressure.
Which ProTaper handlebars are you running? Thanks!
Contour CR High Bend. Wanted the woods hi bends, but I couldn’t find them anywhere.
lol that rear fender was weak
Haha yeah, Sur Ron plastics are break before bend.
Hey Brother! Lovely video Where is that trail located?
Thanks! Helemano, Oahu
The scenery is gorgeous and you're right about Florida vibes.

Great video and nice editing style… Reminds me of myself ha ha…th-cam.com/video/acRJu6QBQik/w-d-xo.htmlsi=B0qRyGsYxOUrIc33
Have you tried OnX Offroad? I do some solo exploring and record all my rides so I wouldn't worry about getting lost with no service it's pretty good. It may even have all of the trails around you marked already and say how many miles they are for easy planning.
Funny you mentioned it. I actually tried OnX Off-road and Gaia GPS since this ride. Ended up going with Gaia after reading the differences but kind of wish I’d paid for OnX. OnX had a clearer satellite view when zoomed in, and I have had some issues with the Gaia app crashing when doing routes. Most of the trails I ride aren’t exactly “sanctioned”, just random dirt bike trails created over 60+ years here on a mix of private and state-owned lands. I actually went a bit deeper than on this video and tracked it with Gaia last weekend, took that ridge trail pretty far before it dead-ended. Feels better having it so that I’m not guessing what other trails I’m near and I already created routes for trails I’m familiar with so I know my exits.
Need AWD
😂
Great video! I ran out of battery on mine a few weeks back. Had to do the walk of shame past the gas bikes at the staging area haha! How do you like the Seven moto pants?
I think a lot of their stuff is overpriced, but figured I’d give them a shot with this specific pair on discount a few years back. They are very comfy, stretchy, and lightweight. Not super durable though, some of the logos and such are peeling off. Due for another pair soon. I know the walk of shame will happen to me one day… only a matter of time I misjudge. Problem with riding here is all the valleys… I could only imagine my bike dying deep in a valley. I’d rather walk out, get my girlfriend’s ultra battery and swap out with a large camping backpack or something.
That was epic bro! That river ride had me laughing
Haha yeah, I thought “oh, I have 47% left and know generally where I am, let’s see where this goes!”
Dang cutting it close with the battery there 😂
Yep! I did make a mistake, I think this ride was closer to 30 miles. My Sur Ron app missed a huge part of the ride. I have a new tracking app that I’m using now “Gaia GPS”, where I’ll be saving my routes to take away some of this battery anxiety. 😬
Bro what’s your top speed on 58t sprocket?
I think I get about 47-48 mph on the 58T
@@TheTyLife88 mahalos 🤙🏾
Awesome! You found the honey hole.
Damn dude. That fall at the end... Be careful man
Update: adjustments only do so much on the Ultra Bee suspension. Is it better than light bee? Yes, by far. Can it be as plush as a normal dirt bike suspension (KTM, Yamaha etc), I don’t think so. It is still Chinese made, likely with imperfect settings (my gf’s identical bike feels different than mine). Down the road I plan on doing the ECR fork upgrade or going with a fork swap. Shock feels ok to me (not great), biggest issue is fork harshness.
Good video! Keep it up.
Do you ever work???
😂
I have tried to connect my ultra mx (same as yours in the black) to the app at least 20 times and keeps saying the current vehicle vin is incorrect.. but I’m scanning the QR from the owners manual.. even tried typing in manually.. it’s so weird.. it’s like the bikes vin and sn don’t match or was this your experience? Great video btw
Did you compare to vin on the bike? I’ve seen dealers for Sur Ron mix up the owners manuals from bike to bike.
Yeah it’s the same.. I thought the same or the dealer registered the bike on the app and now it’s locked or something
@@PeterCarter-g4y I feel like I’m super lucky I got mine to work. One issue I had with mine was the password, the login password has to be very long and avoid certain character. it doesn’t tell you it’s too short or has wrong characters when resetting but will not work when you try to login. Resetting password with the code was tricky too, as it expires pretty fast.
I’ll give it a go.. thanks mate
2:42 no toe strap had me anxious. What did you like best the flight attendant, mind expander, flag ship or ?
Haha yeah, I think it came undone in some powder before-hand. Didn’t even notice it until I went to unstrap at the bottom. The Highpath felt like one of my favorites because it was just the board I was using when things started to click more (luck/ timing). The mind expander was my favorite overall though, it was tons of fun.
Check out channels like Malcolm Moore for tips on snowboarding.
I’ll check him out. I already watch a ton of videos and did before my trip which I think helped me understand basics. Goals for next trip are to practice switch (very unnatural for me), buttering, and playful freestyle stuff on a super forgiving board as well as legitimate carving to avoid mostly skidded turns. Lots of great content out there for learning.
Can you believe that this is considered lousy snow quality in Furano?
Yeah, I don’t think it was too epic but we had pretty consistent snow there. Because I was just learning we didn’t do a ton of off-piste stuff. Nozawaonsen barely had snow when we showed up, but we got lucky for day 2 with enough snow for them to open a handful of more runs.
What are your final settings for your weight now that you have been riding for a bit ?
I’ve kept the settings the same since this video. I ride mostly technical stuff that keeps my speeds down and I’ve liked how it feels. It does get a bit harsh when I push the speeds and I hit some sharper edges, but it’s a give and take.
Cool
Nice ride)
Awesome!!
Braddah How did you bind your bike? I’m having a hard time binding mines to the app 13:17
It took quite a few times to pair the bike via Bluetooth on the app… just keep trying. Need to vin and a few other serial numbers that should be in your owners manual to sync it. It’s definitely kind of a pain, and took many tries before it finally worked. Had same experience with my girlfriends bike.
Nice trails. Nobody seems dissatisfied with their Ultra Bees.
We love ours, they are the perfect bike for technical trails. Technology will get better to get more power and range with less weight, but for now, I think they are tough to beat, especially at the price point.
Promo*SM 😈
It's good your not getting frustrated because of the speed and helping them where their struggling , allowing them learn at their own pace. we need more dirt bikers like you.
Where do you guys ride? I just got my ultra bee and trying to link with folks locally
Mostly ride Mililani, sometimes Kahuku or cruise around North Shore.
I sometimes miss Australia... ❤
What is your approx weight for this ride? Helpful video, thank you!
I weight about 175 lbs without gear.
How much miles/ ride time you getting out there in millz? Got one about a month ago but have yet to take it in the trails. Sick vids btw keep ‘em coming 🤙🏽
Faster riding I’ll maybe get 25 miles, slower more technical stuff I’m seeing about 30. Plenty of range for a good loop and a few hours of fun.
Awesome my dream boat
Perhaps when it dries out a bit lol.
The tire isn't doing the job but that is one tough job man! You got some pretty tough terrain. Nice bike...love the videos.
Your girlfriend is doing pretty well for a novice.
I just ordered an ultra bee this week and am very excited to get this bike and add a few custom parts to it.
Congrats! You won’t be disappointed. We love our Ultra Bee!
Good to see a family having fun together while learning new skills.

Loving the Ultra Bee! Replaced my 2 strokes for sure!
thanks for the reply it sounds like its the same as mine . there is defo more options for this if u ever get it to work please update me on how and i will do the same thanks
you no when you tap on the current location arrow and it brings up you location is yours online or offline and can you view address
Oh, it shows online on the main screen there, but when you click on current location it’s offline and does not show address. Not worried about that though, bike tracks position well on rides. It probably only feeds location when the bike is off every so often to conserve battery I assume.
