    I bought my first house a few years ago in West Torrance ant age 28. First generation American. The VA home loan helped a lot. Anyway, I grew up in Torrance realized there is NO PEACE in the South Bay. I started looking in Redondo, PV, even San Clemente (lived there when I was in the Marines) and opted to leave So Cal entirely. Sold it after a year and moved up to a small town on the central coast called Pacific Grove. Here there is peace.

      Bought my house in Torrance in 1996 at the age of 33. Great area near 234th and Pennsylvania. Loved living there. Used to own an airplane that was parked at Torrance airport. It had everything I could want and need. Two Trader Joes and the current Costco was finished in 2000. Two great hospitals and during my time Souplantation was my favorite place to eat. I never noticed an impact on air because of Mobil. Torrance was a hidden gem in terms of beaches. Traffic in and out TOA wsa great compared to places like Venice, Santa Monic or West LA.

    Lived here for about 40 years. Gotta say … I get a kick out of some of the negative comments here. No part of Torrance is lily white. Oodles of Asians and Latins live here. Our PD is great. Call them and they come in a reasonable amount of time. And they cooperate with all the other PDs in the area. Weather is awesome. The only negative is June Gloom. Obviously not for you if you want 4 seasons, though. Not a lot of smog … the refineries are in the east part of town. And the ocean breezes blow it all inland. Beaches are great. I prefer RAT beach to all others in the SoBay. And you can park nearby any time! Schools are great. The teachers are great and the parents involved. It’s actually quite walkable. But it’s suburban. And there is LOTS of great bike riding nearby on the beach and in PV.

    Yea, I went to Aviation, Dad did Redondo High, Mom went to Mira Costa,. Great Schools even then, I went to LA City Schools in senior year and it's best to avoid them like the plague. Happy to see things have not changed greatly, just saw my Grandma's place on S. Juanita on street view, and it's untouched. I wound up in Oregon as it is expensive down there, I couldn't do the taxes, it's more per year in tax, than I spent on my place up here in total. Even Adams Jr High is still there, go figure, it's been over fifty years since I skipped classes there, and my major was skipping classes. I miss the fog and June Gloom, and the smell of the ocean when the fog comes onshore in the evening. Have fun, James

    YOU don't know what you're talking about. I grew up in Santa Monica in the 70's. I worked in the South bay in the 80's- Palos Verdes which was heaven on earth. I LEFT CA in the 90's and today it is a third world SHIT HOLE! Manhattan beach USED to be AWESOME! It still is, but the prices are a joke. Hermosa USED to be cool- not anymore either. Santa Monica is now homeless bums and crime- check out the MANY youtube videos about it. You must be a Biden voter because you are spreading FAKE news. Anyone who doesn't believe me, go watch some other youtube videos on how bad things are now in California. FJB. And F Gavin Newsom. I was BORN in Long Beach when it was GREAT. It's now a crime ridden democratic garbage can. Still time to get your GED btw and time to MOVE. BTW, I now live in Galena IL- and it's WAy better than any city in Kalifornia. So glad I left CA like the millions of other smart people.

      Unfortunately, CA has a horrendous housing crisis right now. 3 out of 4 young families have admitted to wanting to leave southern California due to skyrocketing rents. The combination of increase in demand & investment housing with low supply (boomer homeowners have forced cities to deny new housing for decades, resulting in not enough housing for our population)

    You forgot to mention that all these home listings are for the super rich and wealthy and also you forgot to mention that in Santa Monica there’s tons of homeless people so you’ll be paying well over $2 million for a house and you’ll have nothing but homeless people living right outside your house

  • @ovxk1014

    The homeless organizations there go and solicit the people into signing up for disability or mental illness.. they need more work programs or to get the homeless out of that area no reason to group up a bunch of people unable to physically work there. It's just crazy watching them return to the homeless shelter behind the mall with shopping carts full of stolen merchandise

    • @ovxk1014
      @ovxk1014 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ibowalker9891 I was homeless there for a while and as someone who wanted to work and it worked with harbor interfaith path and Lasa All of the homeless service providers are anti-job and anti-work for the homeless ..... My main problem is that they cannot receive help at a homeless shelter or in a housing facility without becoming mentally ill or disabled on paper which prevents them from getting work which means they're just sitting there for 2 to 3 years with their caseworker telling them just to sit and wait for a free home.. that is absurd... Basically, if the homeless person is not taking therapy classes or on prescription medication, they're not going to get the funding they need in order to keep their business open to provide housing for them. So it's all hey scam, a homeless person going into a homeless shelter just provides more jobs for government workers not homeless really look into it logically

    • @ovxk1014
      @ovxk1014 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ibowalker9891 so my point is for any homeless person reading this. You cannot accept a shelter bed or anything like that and continue your search for work. Even if they tell you it would be good if you did look at the schedule of classes you're supposed to go to and how much time you have to dedicate to that program.... It's just a mind game and you're going to be stuck there for a long time. If you go into one I had to refuse to accept help from companies like that in order to get off of homelessness, it's like your final test
