How to manage challenging behaviour or disengagement
Giving wrong or improper answers in interview.
How many principals will interview during the final interview?Do all of them will give questions one after the the other.
It always depends on the circumstances…but usually during the final interview it’s just the one principal of the school that has the available teaching position.
Thank you so much for the enlightenment doc.

Are Filipino teachers still being discriminated?
Not that I am aware of and I certainly hope not.
Fantastic! Thanks sir❤
It’s my pleasure. Thank you for being a part of our growing community.
Thank you so much for this gesture of generosity sir. Absolutely amazing!
It is my pleasure. I’d love to help the community as much as possible.
So nervous as a new teacher, i only have experience as an assistant working in tandem with another teacher. I feel scared not being able to be confident enough to show the hiring team that i can be an independent teacher.
If possible spend time with that tandem teacher. Shadow them. Pick their brain for tips, strategies, and ideas. It is totally normal to be nervous, but remember you have resources. A partner teacher, this channel is full of strategies. And most importantly…practice practice practice. You only get better with time, effort, and energy around the task of getting more confident in interviewing and teaching.
thank you very much❤
It’s my pleasure. Thank you for helping to build the community.

Yes of course you can teach in the US. There are a number of channels that specialize in that content.

Let’s go! 🔒d in!
I love the energy!
Thank you, Dr. Gordon, for the marvellous impact that you are making on us.I really appreciate you a lot. Please, can a mathematics teacher provide any of these responses when this question is asked?
It is my pleasure! Thank you for contributing to our growing community.
I just interviewed for several openings in a nearby district. It was definitely nerve racking. There were four principals facing me with one asking the equivalent of multifaceted essay questions. As soon as I started speaking they started typing very loudly on their laptops. Although I hit many of these points listed in the video, I think what killed me was the "Why us" question. I was honest and replied "You have openings." My district does not have any full time positions at the moment.
I can definitely see how that can be a challenging environment. That was unique in that multiple principals were interviewing you. With multiple openings at multiple sites they were likely trying to be efficient with their time. With respect to your “Why Us?” response…honesty never hurts but in the future you could do some cursory research on the district and the single thing they are most proud of…highlight that as why drew you and attracted you to the district or school.
So nervous about my interview tomorrow. I am Not sure what kind of questions they will ask me when working in a multicultural classroom. I have a very strong behavioral background and Spanish is my first language. I feel like am going to go blank in my interview.
Do your best to do some breathing exercises right before. You just want to do your best to slow your heart rate down. Long deep breaths and then tell yourself, “You got this!” I wish you the best of luck with your interview.

The sound is low .try to fix it please. We followed you.thanks a bunch
Thanks for the feedback.
be inspiring
Absolutely!
I was presented with an opportunity from my superintendent to go from an AP of an elementary school to an AP of a High School within my district. What advice would you give for the major differences in these 2 different worlds? Thx in advance!
This is a great opportunity for you. My first thought was that you have shown the ability to lead in a larger, more complex environment. The elementary environment has its inherent complexities, but high schools are awesomely complex spaces to lead in. That is a challenge but also a gift. My background includes serving as a high AP and high school principal and it was by far the hardest and also the best jobs I ever had (excluding the superintendency 😊). My best advice is to seize the opportunity and as a new leader in the environment. Move into coach mode. Learn people and departments strengths and areas of growth. Listen a lot. Ask lots of genuine questions. Honor and value the expertise of the faculty and staff. They will have a ton of pride and commitment to the school and it will serve you well to be seen as someone who wants to add value to the team. I’ve got more but let’s start there. 👍🏾. Best of luck and please keep me posted on how things are going.
You’ve already helped me out more than I deserve, but I would love your feedback on something. When preparing for the administration interview I sometimes get discouraged as it feels like there are so many answers and questions I need to be ready for and it feels like I have to memorize them like I’m reading a script. Do you have any advice on how to get away from memorizing and just letting the answers flow?
I am happy to help. In my opinion…it starts with preparation. The key to feeling like your answers flow is to focus on the bullet points of the job description. Get the job description, study the job description, and then think about specific scenarios that connect to the bullets on the job description. Once you do that, your answers to questions will feel more natural because tot are very familiar with the potential questions that will be asked.
@ very helpful. Thanks a lot
My pleasure!
Thank you Mr. Amerson, you are really good. I need help with special education related questions for my teachers interview
It’s my pleasure…is there a specific question you have or are you looking for more general information and help?

I will try to connect with the students at the root level from starting to ask their daily routine and feel them comfortable to discuss all the problems in his or her life, family and in any social relation and the best possible solutions discussing pros and cons collectively
These are great strategies to increase relationships and rapport with the students. Nice!

I’m interviewing for an AP Elementary position and have 17 years of middle and high school teaching experience. How do I translate that into the Elementary world?
I think you focus on the experience you have managing teams and programs at the secondary level. There is a ton of transferable value. Elementary schools are becoming much more programmatic in their approach to grade level teams and thematic instruction.
Kindly give us the information about how the work load or how the team work will be for new and intresting international teachers
Thank you sir for your tips
Hello sir it's really interesting and informative.....thank you
I am glad the content is helpful to you.
Great AI in Education videos! I’m having trouble identifying the right AI course to start with in education leadership and curriculum design. I want to step up from a school teacher to a leadership role
An interviewer may expect you to mention specific educational philosophies of learning like behaviorism and progressivism.
Can you expand? Tell me more. I haven’t seen or been a part of an interview that delves into specific philosophical frameworks. In my experience it has always been much more generalized….in what interviewer may be asking when tapping into educational philosophy.
@@gordonamerson28 I was watching Kathleen Jasper video on teacher interview prep and she goes over the different philosophies, two of which I mentioned. Another one is progressivism; a focus on real-world problem solving.
Got it. Thanks for sharing that info. I am familiar with Kathleen’s channel. She does really good work. By chance do you gave the link or the can you give me the title of the video you are referring to? I’d like to watch it.
This is a fantastic video. Thank you!
It’s my pleasure. I am glad that you found the video helpful.
@ I watched this video five times in the lead up to my interview, making over three pages of notes in the process. I did the interview last Friday and they called to say I got the job on Monday. Thank you so much for this brilliant video. It really helped me to prepare and refine my responses for those tough senior leadership interview questions. I am so grateful to you for this video. You’re a legend.
I am so happy for you! Well deserved. Now I challenge you to inspiring your kids every single day. I am glad the content is helpful to you and thank you for helping to elevate the community I am trying to build. Please let me know what other videos topics would be helpful to you as you move forward.
