As we celebrate this special day, take a moment to embrace the breathtaking beauty of Ireland’s rugged coastline captured from the skies above. From the ancient majesty of Dun Briste to the awe-inspiring views at Downpatrick Head, every frame tells a story of resilience and wonder. This is also one of the signature points of the stunning @thewildatlanticway .
There is much folklore surrounding St.Patrick and his association with Count Mayo. The name Downpatrick is derived from a time when St Patrick himself founded a church here. At this small peninsula, you can see the ruins of the church building, a stone cross and holy well here today.
Local legend says that when a pagan chieftain refused to convert to Christianity, St Patrick struck the ground with his crozier, splitting a chunk of the headland off into the ocean, with the chieftain on top! The sea stack is beautiful to behold because you can see the layers upon layers of multi-coloured rock strata.
Whether you believe this folklore or not, let the emerald hues of the land and the azure blues of the Atlantic Ocean fill your heart with pride and admiration for this enchanting corner of the world. 💚

This is how life should be, like a community, where people know each other, and sing together, and dance together. I reckon that's why globally there's higher and higher rates of anxiety, depression, and suicide. Villages become towns, towns become cities. People become isolated. But it's good for the economy, all this growth, we're told.
If there's one country I want to visit and that is Ireland.

Correct. "Galway Girl" is a song written by American singer-songwriter Steve Earle. In this instance, this rendition was performed by a local trad group, outside one of our most famous trad music bars.
