    They’re all pretty underwhelming if you ask me. Leveling up in this game is such a chore and incredibly unsatisfying. God forbid you make a mistake and have to spend the next 10 minutes respecing. DOS2 leveling and talents felt way more satisfying and actually empowered the player to be creative. Hopefully DOS3 sticks to its roots and throws out the D&D ruleset

      I haven't tried DOS 2, but a buddy of mine swears by it as a much more interactive game. Maybe I need to give that a shot. Either way, thank you very much for watching!

    Fun fact: bear heart barbarians get full rage benefits with heavy armor. It will say “rage impeded” but the game will automatically put that in if a barb puts heavy armor in. Since bear heart makes you resistant to all the elements, it tricks the game into giving you full rage benefit since it’s not only the main 3 physical damage types. It’s hard to explain but trust me, it works, you can become a very ruthless tank if you pair it with lvl 5 thief and get uncanny dodge. If you want to go even crazier, pair it with a shield and a finesse weapon so you can use sneak attack still. Wanna go even crazier. Put one level into fighter and get the defense skill. You will dodge everything, and when something finally does hit it, it barely does anything.

      That is a fun fact! You and a buddy of mine really ought to get together - you think of the most incredible strategies that fly right above my head lol. If it weren't for the incredible modding community, I'd be right on testing this, but I might just be having too much fun with Mind Weaver and Artificer atm :)

      Absolutely true. I wish the animal forms were a bit more competitive with the other fighting styles. Honestly, I've always had an immediate, visceral affinity with druid in every RPG I've played which, invariably, quickly fades. Good list! Spot on about Magic Initiate: Cleric being the best Magic Initiate feat, and Moderately Armoured being the worst, but... did you know that Magic Initiate: Cleric also grants the Moderately Armoured feat at the same time? With that, I don't think there's any debate which of the "M" armour skills is the worst 😁

    • @scrubleetacademy
      @scrubleetacademy 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You encouraged me to look this up! After checking into it, MAM is what MI: Cleric seems to give, but not the proficiency. I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say they didn't intend for that to happen :) With that in mind, MI: Cleric might make it into a build soon, but there's still the option of respeccing or just making Life Cleric. Sadly, I'd probably still never take either feat. You've convinced me, though; if I'm gonna grab one of the two, it'll never be MAM!

      @@scrubleetacademy oh yes, my bad, got those feats backwards. I'd be quite happy if they never patched MA:C tho. Got a shield dwarf tav mage looking fashionable in the flame enamel set, which that feat synergizes well with. Given they're also abusing the secret, glitched level 9 enchantment spell, I know my fun's probably over come patch 7 😅

    1-> Skilled should let you pick expertise in 3 skills instead of proficiency in 3 skill. Even that might not be worth tho. But it would already be MUCH better. 2-> Mage slayer should give one charge *(Recovered on short rest)* of misty step or some movement skill to allow you to be in the face of casters. That way it remain always somewhat useful even when there are no mages. Otherwise it's exactly has you said and is almost never useful for the hefty cost of a whole feat. 3-> Dungeon Delver should have the added bonus of letting your party short rest 2 more time in dungeon and +1 to a stat of your choice. So it has real utility outside of minor thing that will be handled by any rogue anyway. 4-> Martial adept should give 2 superiority dice and 2 manoeuvre and give +1 in either str, dex or con. Otherwise let's face it... It isn't worth a feat. 5-> Heavily armored is hard to fix. Maybe remove the need for medium and light armor proficiency to acquire it? Let them full plate wizard and sorcerer be a thing? Not sure even that would be worth a feat. 6-> Ritual caster is not worth a feat but the most useful are actually enhanced leap and speak with animal. If you even wanna waste a feat for that. That feat should not exist or fuse it with Magic initiate: wizard. 7-> Durable should be fused with Tough. Call it: Tough and Durable! +2 hit point per level, +1con and regain full health on short rest. 8-> Lightly armored... When we look at light armor an ordinary studded leather armor +2 is better CA than mage armor... Just saying. and it's not hard to get. But that apart you can get powerful effect from some like the elegant studded leather that let you use the spell shield. One of if not the best defensive spell in the game. Heavily armored is bad. Lightly armored is also bad but it's better and more accessible than heavily armored. But yeah some robes are pretty amazing. No one would use a feat for lightly armored anyway. So i can't disagree with you. 9-> Performer is insane i got no clue why it exist! Bard already got instrument and they are the only one who want them. Maybe add proficiency AND expertise in performance on top? But even that is still pretty meh. xD 10-> ''Weapon master'' feels like an insult to it's own name. Unless you allow class like monk to add those weapons to his base proficiency to use flurry of blow and such i see no use for it. Maybe completely change the feat and just make it give a +2 bonus to hit with 1 weapon type of your choice? A bit like the archery fighting style that gives +2 to hit with bows. Heck i'd even consider a +1 bonus to hit acceptable for a feat. Then it would be truly amazing and worthy of it's name. All in all nice video! Rare that TH-cam recommend something of interest to me. xD

    • @scrubleetacademy
      @scrubleetacademy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much, and glad to see how much thought you put into it! I was preparing to put a "how to make these feats better" video, and I whole-heartedly agree with pretty much everything here. I think the Lightly Armored can be awesome with the right armor, but it takes so long to get online (elegant is in A3) and almost everyone has access to it. The feat's just never necessary for me personally, and someone else can use the elegant while my wiz/sor use the Shield spell :) Heavily Armored is the most difficult to balance, but BG3 is not a difficult game to win, so I can see how your estimation is fitting. I'd have to look into that one a bit. Awesome analysis tho. Everything you say is absolutely true and it's great how much thought you put into it!

      That's fair. It's definitely a fun game, but there's always a comparison from then to now. I find that, even playing it now, the power is just far too much for my enjoyment - but that's in no way saying the game is bad. It's just not made for me anymore, gameplay-wise. A good second example is either the Witcher, BG3, or Bioshock - they're great games, but it's too easy to break them, so it takes me away somewhat. It's cool, though, and I'm glad to see you're having fun!

    For all of its jank it's probably the only MMO I'll play with all the modern options, because they don't come close to what DDO does. Not excusing the lag though, it's extremely bad, especially for where I'm from in Southern Africa where I just have higher latency ontop in general. Despite that it's still my goto MMO. I also think it would be great if they could go back to the visual fidelity, audio quality and creative direction we saw in Ravenloft. A lot of the newer content feels bland in comparison to me.

    • @scrubleetacademy
      @scrubleetacademy 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely true! Especially with the adeptness with which Ravenloft was handled. "Into the Mists" and "Death House" were phenomenally handled, if short, because they nailed the aesthetic. Sharn, by comparison, has a great story with a finally interesting villain, but it's so bogged down in narrative and paint-by-numbers business culture that it feels on a cursory glance to be a rant by an upset worker, and Feywild's all just appearance over substance. Beautiful, but devoid. After Fey, I just didn't care for any of the story or characters. Vecna might be the worst villain in DDO, and hey, maybe I'll have to do a video about that stuff!

    Radiant servant is nothing compared to Beacon of hope. The good thing about this tree is the +3 MCL not in the core or capstone, but it doesn't give you a lot of positive spell power or Hamp or SLA. It tries to have "cure" effects, but there aren't many uses for it, except symbol of pain Don't get me started on Aura on a squishy CLR. Without enough SLA cleric mana pool can't support spam heals Reactive heal used to be good, but outdated in reaper content, not scaling with spell power. Divine healing or whatever is so small in number it does nothing.

    The ddo population can be largely divided into 2: Those who are fanboys of FvS nuker with wings and chicken style jumparound and the icon "angel" even though they do 0 damage, they just like being pretty with "divine magic" roleplay Those who like Sorc style nuking "you can't lay your hands on mobs before I am done with them" playstyle FvS is such a fetish I absolutely deslike this garbage. I love MY FvS where she heals for 10k with a heal spell x2 and her wall heals for 300-600 (and can crit for 500-800) per tic, her close wounds heals for 300-900. This is a godlike FvS which allows DPS toons with no CC to facetank r10

      What is so garbage about FvS nuking also is that it takes 10 years for stuff to land, and with cooldowns of 8 years. Idk what the other guy is smoking. Sorc is the OG nuker powerhouse with glasscannon style. Alchemist now outshines sorc because they have better numbers and cheap kiting potential (backward throw and sprint for days) and stupid self heal Druid also has higher numbers than Sorc and also because everything is lingering in the end it ends up doing more damage.

    • @scrubleetacademy
      @scrubleetacademy 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely, and this game still holds a spot for me. It seems a little cheesy, but I did build great memories with this game, and I'm a rabbit who'll stand by his word on this one. Its dungeon designs could be revolutionary for other MMOs if they adopt similar styles. As far as tabletop, I certainly prefer Eberron to Forgotten Realms. It feels closer to what a world of magic should be like. No more are the days where everyone's either a peasant farmer with no comprehension of magic or a wizard-god supreme. Everyone and everything in Eberron is steeped in magic and technology. They adopt, reject, infuse themselves with or worship both. Even more, the archaeological element of Xen'drik is absolutely fascinating to me. I think Keith Baker's model deserves tremendously more attention than it has currently. If you really want inspiration, though (no pun intended), read through the Inspiration Quarter quests and come up with some weird Quori reality-bending story for your players. Incept them through layers of dream and reality, twisting their conceptualization of what is and isn't. Then, introduce insanity rolls and make them decide how best to tackle the fringe Quori mind-warps you created for them. Just a thought from a super-nerd... rabbit :)

    I became disenchanted with the game shortly after the whole pay to play thing came around. That being said, it was the way games were going, so I can't blame them. Came back to the game in 2020 and have really enjoyed it again for some of the same and some different reasons that I enjoyed playing when it came out. Lag hasn't been bad for me on Thelanis with the exception of the occasional spike here and there, but I do think that more effort should be put into cleaning up outstanding performance issues and glitches before creating new content. The game is massive in content as well as options for build types, which is a plus, and what really helps to keep my interest. All-in-all, it's a great game, and for being around for 18 years I'd say it's doing pretty darn good.

Retail's a bit much, but Classic doesn't seem bad. I think for those, I'll get a bit creative :) As far as the entirely different, I'll leave that as a surprise. It won't be exactly like DDO, but weirdly, DDO isn't the kind of game I would play by myself all that often, regardless of the nearly 130 videos I've done on it now XD. Honestly, I think I'll go for something a bit more explosive than an MMO first tho...

If you're human, for example, it should default you to Sovereign Host (imo, arguably the best path for a paladin, as I mention in this video). The best way to figure out what each "Follower of" feat leads to is to use this link below: ddowiki.com/page/Deity_feats The DDO Wiki is the go-to place for DDO info (and that sounds like an advertisement, but it's really just a QoL kind of thing lol). There's a nifty chart and everything, so it'll guide you through the whole thing. Hope this helps!

    • @scrubleetacademy
      @scrubleetacademy ปีที่แล้ว

      A straight nerf to the number of hit points you can recover via Vampirism effects. It happened during the numbers squish on U50, though Vamp was never really all that good. Still, for theme builds, it could be awesome to try; PLs aside, a paladin twisted vampire 15/5 or 14/6 could be a blast, but I've never really sat down and delved into the actual optimization of it (as much as I'd love to).

    Grinding profession levels then still dealing with mini games seems a waste of effort, and then even losing profession levels on tr would just lead to ignoring that aspect of the game...

    • @scrubleetacademy
      @scrubleetacademy ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the perspective. Since this is all hypothetical, if this system were introduced, what do you think would work for reincarnation? I intentionally left that aspect out of it, because I had no idea what would both entice releveling crafting and conform to DDO's unique reincarnation cycle. However, in games like WoW (at least, well into WoD, but I quit like everyone else during WoD), you'd lose everything when you dropped a primary profession, so I doubt the same would force mass rejection. Thankfully, other than Gathering professions, there is value to most items through my other professions, meaning leveling would not omit certain recipes in favor of others. I'll try to have some more of them out in the coming days to show you what I mean.

      @@scrubleetacademy there's enough grind in the game as is so the secondary profession should just unlock different tier abilities at 1, 5, 10 and then fully at 15. Then u skip the grind, customise your profession and test skill with mini game and try different professions each life without feeling punished for tr'ing

      That's fine; not all features have to appeal to all players. But to me, a game only improves with more features that bolster the experience for some, do not detriment others, and genuinely expand the scope of the universe they're set in (as finding the results of Xen'drik's mining operations do - part of what makes Relic of a Sovereign Past so special being the adamantine mining operation happening in the background). Simple is fine, but it gets old quick; this is a theorization practice to see if professions would be a good idea - a theorization I really need to get back to, but uploading has been quite the task this last while!

    I would say reaper trees should be god tier even just for giving HP mayby they dont give a lot according to you but for me they boost as hell. I know you dont care but i just want to say it 🙂

    • @scrubleetacademy
      @scrubleetacademy ปีที่แล้ว

      Just the opposite, my dude! It's fine to disagree sometimes. It's true, reaper trees give incredible, game-breaking levels of hit points, but one of the metrics Robo and I used in this video was how long it took for something to come online. If Ninja Spy's the worst tree in part due to that, then these reaper trees have got to take a hit too. I definitely think they give a lot, but the impact to a new player is a bit pathetic. Ninja doesn't come online until 20; Dread Adversary, for example, won't come online until well into 30s content if you're a DPS; Grim Barricade if you're anybody; Dire Thaumaturge for several lives even if you are a caster. They are in addition to everything else, but "impact-wise," you can't disagree that they're just not all that prominent to a new player, and reaper mode is the s*ittiest mode in the game, including the Hardcore Lag event. It's never my recommendation for newbies to even bother with reaper until they can ease their way into it. If you wanna grind your way to the top, they don't have an easy to reach ceiling like other trees (capped at X Enhancement Points) and stack, but until you've got >20 points in a tree, they're not exceedingly powerful compared to regular enhancement trees that offer more than just a handful of melee power, a deadly line, and ~160 hit points pre-mod.

      @@scrubleetacademy true you need to invest in them cuz if you dont have like 50+ points them will not give much if you split. But if you use them like i use so for mage 41 in mage reaper tree (i dont remember name of them) and rest in tank you can get a lot of "free hp" and soulstone is not making dmg as my guildmate say

    The new ranger should of had multishot (think they get a scattershot or something but its bad + some of the AA tree and the wolf needs like double maybe tripple stats. Warlocks a bit boring.. The blightcaster melts all, the poison spell that does aoe and removes immunity seems like it would make a good multiclass with a rogue or something.

    • @scrubleetacademy
      @scrubleetacademy ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. Haven't gotten to a blighty life yet, but of the three, it's the only one that really feels thematic to the class while justifiably being an archetype. ranger should already have all the stuff DH has, pets are (sadly) terrible, and nothing about it feels dark at all lmao. The lock, on the other hand, is fiend pact recycled. That couldn't have been the only thing they could think to do with it... IMO, Beastmaster from WoW is a great template they could have used for a ranger archetype, but you know, that would have been fun? :)

  • @aciarduce
    @aciarduce ปีที่แล้ว

    Acolyte does NOT have the same progression as a normal Warlock for their blasts. They gain feats for their blast and pact dice at levels 1, 6, 12, and 18. These feats giving 2 dice apiece, each. This is a total of 8d8 Blast Dice, 8d6 Pact Dice. For comparison, a standard Warlock at level 18 has 5d6 Blast Dice and 8d4 Pact Dice (can push to 6d6 Blast and 10d4 Pact at level 20), making an Acolyte Warlock have a notably stronger Blast. BUT they can be taken like the Monk Adept, Master, Grandmaster feat line. So take 1 level of Acolyte, or prob two for something like chain, and then the other 3 feats and you can then be blasting away like a full Warlock, on top of whatever other class you actually are.

    • @scrubleetacademy
      @scrubleetacademy ปีที่แล้ว

      You're correct! And I must apologize for my indiscretion... I said it was streamlined, but it's an even worse system. It's monk-lined. You know I had a friend who quit the game after trying monk, because he didn't understand how to make it work? Just some food for thought while we imagine what a newer player's experience is without understanding the multiclass system :) You can like it if you want, but I'm not entirely wrong. The only thing I should have said is that it's even more convoluted for new players, but you're watching SCRUBLEET Academy; did you think I was talking about the veteran experience?
