54 years old here. Just changed my Steam Deck 512 GB LCD to the 1 TB OLED version and I won't regret it one bit! My son will get my old 512 GB LCD version as a birthday gift. Love the Steam Deck! It's the ultimate portable gaming solution. I've been gaming since I got my Commodore VIC 20 in 1983. Next to the Commodore 64 and Commodore AMIGA the Steam Deck is hands down the best gaming platform I've ever used and I've owned a lot of gaming platforms to say the least. And emulation is just so good on it! You're definitely never too old for gaming! 😊

54 here and bought the Oled 1TB version a month or so ago. Like you I had a break for more then 3 years and didn't play anything anymore. Somehow I was done with gaming and was bored and lost interest for a long period of time. Last year I picked it up again. Since I have my SD Oled I haven't touched my PC. 😎 The SD is so much more comfy and relaxing then crawl behind your PC. Loved it right from the beginning. Such an anazing device! Right now I'm into emulation with Emudeck. Go check it out, you will enjoy it. 😎 Some good games I really like and enjoy on the Deck; Mad Max Horizon Zero Dawn The Gunk Streets of Rage 4 Ori and the Blind Forest Resident Evil 2 Remake Shadow of the Tomb Raider Call of Juarez Gunslinger Redeemer Huntdown Dead Space Remake All run very well on the Deck. Enjoy!

@@Electro-t the only way I can run DIV 2 from Epic Games is through desktop mode with heroic games. HOWEVER, the controls are aggravating bc one of the most used buttons opens the chat window and stops you from moving. It’s like the game doesn’t recognize that you want to use controller (gamepad) only and it recognizes some buttons as keyboard keys. Yes it is playable BUT you’ll get so aggravated when you die bc you get stopped in middle of fire fight bc you opened the chat window accidentally

Fortnite won’t work on a Linux system but will work if you dual boot windows on your deck

Hi, I've been looking at retro game channels and found yours. I started with an Atari too. Ive got the ps2 and ps3, a nintendo gameboy, gameboy advance, the 3ds, wii, and the switch. Ive been looking for a handheld/tv compatible emulator that plays systems (not just Nintendo) up to the DS preferably, without breaking the bank. You seem to have a nice assortment. Is there one you would recommend or a favourite among them? Thanks!
Hi Lynn. All depends on your budget. The steamdeck can emulated all the way to PS3 and that includes everything that came before. I'm looking forwards to doing a video on that in the future. But for a budget my next video is a horizontal version of the previous anbernic but with analogue sticks WiFi and Bluetooth too. Goes up to ps1 comfortably. Should be unboxing it tomorrow 🤞
@Electro-t Thanks for the quick response! The steamdeck is a little out of my budget at the moment. I just bought the OLED Switch a few months ago, and prices are starting to get crazy. I'll keep an eye out for your video tomorrow.

Thank you for this unboxing etc. Delighted you have got back into gaming, especially after an enforced absence. I have one or two issues I am working through, too and a divorce. I'm 57 and have only ever been a casual gamer. I started with a Game Gear and the PS1 back in the 90s. My all time favourite was Wipeout 2097. I am getting a 512 OLED Deck this week and have been looking at emulation, Roms, and Bios. I will get my head around it, but let's say it doesn't come naturally. More my two sons area. However, although expensive, you could consider adding the Ultimate 1TB Batocera Version 39 Image MicroSD card from somewhere like Umbrella_Arcades. I bought one and it offers tons of old games from various consoles without needing any mucking about. I went for an anti Glare protector and the JSAUX case with cooling fan pack from Amazon. Again, thank you for taking the time to share your experience and enthusiasm. I have subscribed and will now check out your other videos. I have reviewed on TH-cam as Tiresius Reviews as Idlespin...really just a Northan monkey waffling on about fidget spinners really :) Hence I know it takes some time and effort to do a review. how to display fps at the top of the screen?
Press the 3 little dots button under the right joystick then scroll down to performance, there you will see a performance overlay level. Choose 1 2 3 or 4 for different FPS and temperature overlays

Does the deck wiggle in the case? Ive heard that it isnt a snug fit
Very slightly but the analogue sticks are protected well. With a grip case on it’s a very tight fit.

Yes the begging of the video was bad. I filmed this with a phone on a tripod with low light. 2 minutes in I change to the GoPro and it's much better 👍
Can it play call of duty or fortnite?
It can but you’d have to install windows on it due to the anti cheat software these titles use not being supported on Linux. Older call of duty games work fine
