Good info. My only suggestion is to use your own cook set to heat up your meal. Chemical warmers stink and are easily identified from a distance. Also bring something hot to drink if you aren't on hard routine.
I always kept most of the food (I’m not eating 20 fucking mints) and always kept the salt in particular. Made them a bit bigger than yours but never worried about food. We wouldn’t eat all them most of the time anyway come to think about it…

"Field Stripping" an MRE is just so totally indicative of how inappropriate these things are for serious Preppers and Survivalists!
Solid knowledge transfer brother..
I have a giant box of all the extra shit in these MREs I dont use (drink mixes, coffee, gum, etc.), I'll never use them. But I can't bring myself to trash it. I'm tempted to turn them into inverse MREs. All the worst parts of a MRE. None of the calories.
im actually gonna do this, probably gonna order some from the site soon
Slurping down that Peanut butter pack you forgot you had in your cargo pocket at 2am hits different.
Pocket food hits hard anytime...
I do it a little bit different. I strip down into whatever I may eat as a meal, for when I have time to get into the pack and eat a meal, and usually dump all my snacks into a freezer bag that goes in a more easily accessible pocket or pouch, so I can munch when I get a moment to munch. Just like a pistol is something to help you fight your way to your rifle, munchies are what get you through until you can finally "enjoy" a meal. Just gotta say, MREs are WAY better than the C-rats I spent 10 years having to pack and eat back in dinosaur days. But C-rats did have one big advantage over MRE's - if your primary weapon went down, you still had your can of beanie-weenie and/or fruit cake to throw at the enemy! 😉
I need suspenders for my battle belt even without it loaded down. I don't have a butt. I just have a really long back. So no matter how tight I make my belts, they eventually slide their way down.
We called it rat fucking in the infantry lol
Not ashamed to say that I "rat fucked" my fair share. Menu #11 Chicken & Rice. You got M&M's ... AND a chocolate covered graham cracker. I used to get $5 bucks each for those little mini bottles of Tabasco sauce. To hell with those particle board oatmeal cookie bars. Eat ONE ... and you can't shit for a month...
AWESOME VIDEO!
Useful 👍
Back in 2008, we got brand new FLCs for our deployment and I did not like it at all. I wound up getting an Eagle Industries chest rig for most of my time downrange. When Ingot back home I gave the FLC another chance and after working on it I really fell in love with the system. It is honestly the Rodney Dangerfield of webgear. Most don't know how to use it and far too many don't care to learn. When the system is used properly, it is comfortable and works like a sewing machine. Nowadays I wish I could find more uses for it in the civilian world, lol.
GREAT INFO......PLEASE SPEAK MORE SLOWLY AND STOP USING SO MANY ACRONYMS. ...
Anyone know where to get the “advanced combat knee pads”? They’re different and Venture has carried them in the past. Super hard to find now…
Those are for the new version of Combat Pants and it'll probably be a while before they are easy to find.
They can also handle a single AK mag
Useful, as Brass Facts shared about ya stuff!
th-cam.com/video/URiUKR6EUos/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ttGvSGEldj9uZNR5. This will fill in the blanks….
I just wanna know which pencil-necked designer made the shoulder straps like an inch apart where they connect to the top of the pack.
Good video...
I'm pretty sure the gooseneck won't fit on the detachable carry handle. I have the aimpoint model and it only mounts on the integrated models
I setup 2 FLC's. One for shotgun option and one for rifle option.
nalgene fits. no problem
so how do you adjust the vest for different sizes. I can't zip mine up
usgi fits a nalgene np
Please do one on the raid mod BDU?
While we'll eventually be doing something on them, I recommend checking out @KitCreep in the mean time!
I've seen kitcreep's video. I subscribe to his channel and yours.
Heard a 'black light' will recharge those old phosphorous markers on the dial - not sure as I don't have a black light. Anyone know for sure? Luminous paint on the distance markers would work great. Suppose folks who never had to work in the dark and 'stay dark' don't get it. I get it Lucas. Keep mine in original snap pouch zip tied and corded to the ALICE Y-harness shoulder strap.
Why anyone would try to uuse that compass is beyond me. There are better compasses made nowadays that do the same but are easier to use.
Few if any are as durable. I've broken several 'plastic' top shelf (2X the price) 'Sxxxx' compasses just on pursuit hunting engagements - not extreme combat. I love the accuracy and weight of the modern poly compass in camp laying out and planning routes but in the field when I need it (I roll non-digital) - no thank you.
I still have the one I “aquired” back in 89. Still accurate and still able to read at night.
Thanks
On those 4 middle mag pouches...do you cut off the velcro straps when you add the bungee cords for retention?
Any recommendations on getting local maps? Thanks
MyTopo and Caltopp are the ones that I've seen used a lot. It's kind of luck of the draw on them all, as far as how up to date the maps are though.
@@VentureSurplus I really appreciate that and the products yall offer
100% agree with the response from Venture for a high quality map, but if you just need a laminated sheet to stuff in an admin pouch, or to give to a buddy, USGS has topo maps all over the US that are free to download and print. One of the few things I don't feel like my taxes are being wasted on.
@@mattn1224 good to know. I appreciate all the info. Been trying to remember how to do land nav and teach my kids but I’m a bit rusty
I forget where I learned it, but one of the cheapest way to get full size topo maps is to download the full size maps from USGS, and upload them to Staples and have them printed full size on large format paper. I printed the 9 grids adjacent to my AO, and I have a set which is in the correct scale.
Im over 6 foot these dont fit me, so i been rocking A.L.I.C.E. gear since i got bored with MOLLE.
next time open it and show the inside
Put your dump in your trunk. Way easier to manage back there.
How can I buy those BDU Uniforms?
Great Video ! I like the Dump Pouch so you can put your litter in the Pouch so others do not have a trail to follow ! You have the start of an escape and evade load up after you dump your heavy pack and then can move light and fast to the front lines ! (Or evade the NO police when they want to take your 2nd Amendment away to support the Constitution !) Stay safe ! tjl
I put 2 of the M60 pouches on mine and also a butt pack off the belt and used a separate 3L/100oz hydration pack when hunting.
Nice vid
Great vid needed this
I like the fact it's easy to put on, easy to spread the gear out and has an even load distribution, at least my setup anyway.
Nice
Always has been.
You missed an opportunity to call this 'Modern Gondor ranger loadout' lmao. I have an original RLCS RRV, just took it out for milsim and kinda surprised that it can take load of pouch as much as FLC.
Great info. I'm making an order right now.
FYI, Coors light pint bottle caps fit these. For when the cap breaks
Just picked up two ACU Pouches for $13 bucks total! Definitely gonna try this
