I think the “handguard” is more wide to prevent your hand from over travel during stabs so your hand doesn’t go up to the blade.

Ah yes, the Trench Hawk. You do realize it's only purpose in life is to Un-alive some one? Its not meant for camping. And you can get a new handle for it, from Cold Steel. Ah yes, the Viking Bearded Axe from Cold Steel. I have one and its a good "Combat" axe.

Okay, tomahawk heads are friction fit to the handle. So you need to remove the set screw and sand the top of the handle, just enough so the wood is flush with the eye of the hawk, but have about a 1/2 inch of the handle sticking above the eye. That set screw is the worst thing Cold Steel has come up with. Oh, and I've been collecting knives, axes and tomahawks, since the mid 80's :) P.S. You need to get the Ken Onion Edition of the Work Sharp, then get the belt grinder attachment. You will put a good edge on any edged tool you own.

Ah yes, Cold Steel Tomahawks and Axes. I have quite the collection myself. That Rifleman's Hawk, is referred to by many as the Magnum of the Cold Steel Tomahawk line. I've put a 24 degree edge on mine, and it cops and splits wood nicely. I think I will have to do a video for my channel on my collection of Axes and Tomahawks. I have many.

A pack of coyotes😂 I carry very large knives because i want to and oddly enough none of the XL folders have blades longer than my own tool. Oh well some peoples kids. Always carry a knife for utility and if needed in a last ditch effort for defense.

I’ve been carrying the drop point voyager xl and I can see myself going the way of buying each of the ones you did after yours. I should just skip straight to the espada and save myself some money.

In a modern context, a handguard like you might see on a saber or cutlass would serve to protect your fingers from the sticks, clubs, and machetes that goblins tend to wield.

Coyotes are pretty much cowards. Mountain Lions, well you will never see it coming. Dogs will be the worst, then people. I carry a hiking staff, made from Hickory. I now have the Rajah 2, which I will carry from now on. As for a gun. I prefer a revolver, double action. Right now the one I have is just a .22 LR revolver. But it would not be too bad. Mountain Lions usually attack from the rear.

Work sharp knife sharpener will fix that blade.

I have the Rajah the Espada and the Vaquero love them all and carry them occasionally. The rajah is the best bang for weight and pocket carry. But that Vaquero is nice and compact.

i gave the benefit of the doubt for all the cringe leading up to it but the second you said "youre legitimately living a cushy/privilidged life if you cant imagine needing a knife like this" i couldnt anymore. One might argue that for $350 and $200 you have to be living a cushy/privilged life to own both as collector pieces while making a youtube video about how youd hypothetically defend yourself from a pack of coyotes and/or a bear attack lol

So I have the Spartan and Rajah 2. for the Spartan I added a small paracord lanyard, made it much easier to get ahold of and get out of the pocket.

I carry the recon and voyager both regular and XL I found with the thumb suds the blade is easy to open and does not get caught up in the pocket. The thumb disc are terrible the disc gets caught up in the pocket and sometimes opens by accident or just keeps you from being able to get the knife out of the pocket without a struggle. Cold steel puts a cheap wave feature on their knives so they do not have to pay Emerson for permission to use the patent.

I use mine with a heavily modified blade (put a semi hollow grind, removed the painting and reduced the pommel, and made a better leather sheath) in archaeology fieldwork as a side tool, has helped me through brush and cane vegetation from the peruvian North Coast besides it looks cool as hell

Flap disk wheel, angle grinder, It is ceramic rod to finish it off. I carried 1 for 4 and a 1/2 years and beat the ever living p*** out of it. It only failed me. Because I threw it at a tree one too many times

Gatekeeping lacks finesse, some people do and that should be accepted, but is really just a simple way to educate and assure people aren't lying to themselves or others. Humans have more in common than not and ANYONE that becomes good at something shares a path walked with others who are also experienced. Wording up people to not go of like they know it all when just into the journey is a service that only bothers egos that need some tempering proving that there was a basis to gatekeep in the first place. A community without rules is not a community at all just chaos.
