Ordered one yesterday!!!
Thank you. Enjoy...
Bang that shit!! I still believe that keymod is the Easiest on off attachment system for rifles. M-lock is a bit of a futszy pain in the ass on/off system. M-lock is the “standard” unfortunately…
American engineering and its worth every penny!
Ted, saw you at IMTS at a distance. So cool to see someone in person with such enganuity and ability to put that into a product. The pivoting bolt is my favorite feature. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the kind words.
I have bought many and they are great. The trigger hanger has been improved to keep "experts" from messing them up when they don't fully understand what it's doing. They make this action unbelievably smooth and it feeds like greased butter.
Ted, you are one of the only new generation American gun designers out there. Truly. With that said…. Will you ever produce ARC magazines again?? -Isaac
Maybe. Mags can be a headache. Guys had a love-hate relationship with the mag we introduced. When they worked, they we awesome. When they didn't, well, they didn't. Ted
Yap I bought one!!!
Are you able to comment on long and short action compatibility? I'm building a rifle around an action that can handle .308 Win and 300 Win Mag with the purchase of a second bolt (and thus, different sized bolt face). Based on the chart on the ARC website, it appears my options would be a short action with 300 WSM as a substitution for 300 Win Mag OR a long action, substituting, say, 30-06 for .308. If possible, please let me know if I have this straight or need to email the ARC team for clarification. Much appreciated. BTW, great video, excellent overview of the value ARC is offering.
Sounds like you have this straight. That said, please consider if you will really switch from one caliber to another. Getting a rifle set up and shooting well only to disassemble and reassemble as something else is rather annoying. For what's its worth, pick one cartridge, shoot it often, and get good at it. Or you can just build a second rifle. Enjoy... Ted
Can i use a savage small shank barrel with nut? Or would i need to get the breach conical cut?
Savage large shank (1.0625-20 UN 2A thread) with flat breach would work for magnums, such as 300 Win Mag, 300 PRC, etc. For 308 Win size case heads, such as 6 and 6.5 Creedmoor, conical breech is highly recommended. Instructions are here: www.americanrifle.com/web/content/145679
@AmericanRifleCompany thank you for the quick answer, it would actually be for a 300 prc. The website documentation says small shank? "Flat breech barrels should be used for cartridges having a case head of .532" or larger - this includes Savage small shank prefits"
@@AmericanRifleCompany Small shank 1.055"x20p Large shank 1.120"X20P
@@johnsanford3043 I appreciate the sentiment but the thread callout that you're indicating is not correct. While it is true that measuring the OD of a 1.0625-20 UN 2A thread may result in a value of 1.055" which is within the OD tolerance for the 2A class, specifying the small shank thread at 1.055"x20p is incomplete as it specifies neither thread form nor tolerance. If one were to assume a Unified 60° thread form and a class 2A tolerance, the resulting thread would have an undersized pitch diameter as the 1.055" may be assumed to apply to a nominal OD and not the actual OD. Standards are important so that correct information is communicated. The correct callout of the Savage small shank is 1.0625-20 UN 2A for the male thread and 1.0625-20 UN 2B for the female thread. I think it's okay to apply the tighter 3A and 3B tolerances if one is so inclined but the class 2 tolerance is more than adequate.
ordered this SA and a target prs style stock. its great to buy american products that really do have the best features possible. yes AW mags are that good, worth redesigning a mag and an action, which is why AI did it in the first place. i literally couldnt have dreamed up a sweeter action if i knew how! jeez that price is going to hurt a lot of companies in the industry! new standard product. instead of the R700 pattern, we may call it the CDG pattern in 50 years.
Can this rifle be made with the Coupe De Grace?
Yes. Buy the Xylo chassis and the Coup De Grâce action and assembly your rifle. Ted
@@AmericanRifleCompany as well as the “quick change” barrel too?
Being new to all this bolt action stuff, this type of video is invaluable to me. There are so many actions, and i really don't understand what makes them different. But this video is helping me start to understand. Thank you very much.
I will literally pay double retail to get my hands on an AIAW mag to finish my ARC build
It will run fine with AICS mags. AWs are better but AICS are okay too.

I'm trying to figure out if the Faxon 8.6 barrel I ordered would work. Because this presentation pretty well solidified the fact I want this action. Partially because the faxon actions won't even work with their Remage barrels. I'll also be getting the M-Brace mount.
cant wait till i get one of those action in 300 prc
do you have a 338 chambered of that rifle bro?
Not as a complete rifle at this time. However, we can provide a chassis and a Coup De Grâce action. You'd have to source your own barrel. Ted
@@AmericanRifleCompany how much for the action and chassis sir?
@@user-vd652 $2000

@@user-vd652 No barrel. We don't build complete rifles in 338 Lapua Magnum at this time. Just the chassis and the action.
@AmericanRifleCompany Ted, hello. Can you confirm that the correct AIAW mag for .308/6.5CM is the AI part number 0726? I've ordered a CDG for my Xylo, found the AIAW 0726 mags online, and just want to confirm. Thanks.
sir do you have a lapua magnum chambered in 338?
My Masterpiece Arms BA PMR PRO v2 came with the Coupe de Grace' action! Absolute work of art. Fit, finish, sexy lines, fluted bolt, and as smooth as glass. Its got a look & feel like no other action. Perfection in every way. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the kind words. I've recently started running one of my CDG rifles with a shorter bolt handle, 10mm shorter. That's quite a bit. I like it better than the longer handle that we have been selling thus far. That's just personal preference but if I like it, some others will as well. Look for them on our website soon and consider trying one. Thanks again.
Ted, this is freaking great!
What unsold me on this action is the need for a conical breech face. You cannot use pre-fit barrels with it.
You can absolutely use pre-fit barrels for it. I believe that both Preferred Barrels and Patriot Valley Arms supply them. The conical breech has nothing to do with the pre-fit-ability of a barrel. Also, cartridges having case heads larger that 12.7mm (0.5 inches) such as 300 Win Mags and 338 Lapua do not require the conical breech. Breech drawing for the Coup cn be found here: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/www.americanrifle.com/web/content/145679 Ted
Neither one of them offer any barrel over 27" long and available contours are very limited. @@AmericanRifleCompany
I'm sure this is a nice action. What really pisses me off is the fact that ARC has pretty much dropped ALL support for the other actions. I have 2 Nucleus Gen 2s, one less than a year old, and need new bolt heads for different cartridges. Can't get any. This forces me to look elsewhere for an action the company I choose to go with will actually support. I could buy the Coup De Grace, especially if I plan to find a different action to replace these nucleus gen 2s. However, I will not be forced to buy the Coup De Grace because ARC decided to forget about the other actions in it's lineup. It would be my luck ARC will drop support for the Coup De Grace in less than a year also and then I'm really screwed. Never again ARC, never again. I'll find a company that will actually support their products....
I understand your frustration. You are among a few people that want an additional bolt head for a Nuc. We will make more but our resources are in high demand at the moment. Please contact us directly. We might have something lying around that you can use until we make more. Ted
Ted could this action be used in benchrest if it had a solid bottom or an insert.
Of course it could and we can easily make a few batches with solid bottoms, that is without mag wells. Call in an order and make the request. We'll get it done.
OK, so I have a question: I received a replacement parts kit for the extractor with a pin, and a shorter spring than the original one I had that came with a black extractor, a small ball, and a slightly longer spring. The new pin that comes with the new extractor has a beveled edge on one side and a flat edge on the other side. Which direction does the beveled end go?
Good question and an excellent eye for detail. I always install the pin with the tapered (chamfered) end towards the spring. I've tried it both ways and did not notice a difference but the tapered end towards the spring seems to be more correct in my mind. Ted
Thank you Ted I’m just now stepping into the world of civilian precision rifle and your knowledge and engineering prowess has reeled me in to ARC. I purchased a CDG action, I appreciate you bringing those to us at an affordable price, and this chassis looks like a nice match. Does it run well with AW mags and are there rubber grips available for it?
Thanks for the kind words. Xylo + CDG runs great with AW mags and no, rubber grips are not available, although I suppose a guy could print some nowadays. Ted
I have a christensen arms mesa 300PRC in a Grayboe ridgeback stock, long action of course. I am wondering if I would have any trouble getting this action beded to this stock and removing that christensen arms. Anybody have any concrete evidence that it will fit? Or that it will not, for certain.
Sorry. I'm not familiar with the Christensen Rifle.
How long is the arca rail
Awesome work. Eagerly awaiting my CDG. Have some feelers out for the AIAW mags.
Just ordered a MPA pro in left hand 3 months eta cant wait!
Ted can you please make a video showing and describing the difference and similarities between the lightweight and standard Coupe De Grace? Thank you for this video, we all look forward to new videos, your expertise, engineering and enthusiasm is what makes your rifle receivers so excellent.
The lighter weight version uses a different receiver. I opened the top of the receiver to remove mech of the mass associated with the rail. Everything else is the same.
@@AmericanRifleCompany thank you Ted
This is the action I choose to sell barreled actions with my name on it.
What is that chassis model and where can I get it? Thank you
You can buy the Xylo chassis from American Rifle Company. www.americanrifle.com/shop/xylo-chassis-139#attr=301,228
@@AmericanRifleCompany I just bought the CDG does the chassis fit with CDG?
Yes
Will you guys be selling the magazine
Ted, what chassis did you use for the assembly?
Is there any reason yall didn’t flute the entire bolt? I was under the impression that a fluted bolt was smoother and lighter, but it seems yall only done it for aesthetics. Just curious
Fluting the bolt does reduce weight which reduces the forces resulting from the impact of the bolt assembly against the bolt stop. Generally, fluting does not make the bolt cycle smoother because edges of the flutes can interact with the edges of the receiver and this interaction can be felt by the shooter. Because of that, we limited the flutes to areas that would not adversely interact with the receiver. We also fluted the bolt because aesthetics matter to many shooters, although they don't matter to me. I'm more of a form follows function kinda guy but I design the actions for my customers, not for me. All that said, we do offer a non-fluted option for those who prefer that. Thanks for the interest. Ted
Caution: if the bolt locking pin rotates at all, it won’t be able to move into the head piece. There’s a tiny tab on the side of the locking pin that needs to be aligned just right to reassemble the cocking piece into the bolt. If the locking pin can’t depress, the cocking piece won’t compress enough to rotate and lock into the bolt body.
You're absolutely right about that. I did cover it in another video but I probably should have covered it in this one as well. See th-cam.com/video/6PQ7rAcMwJM/w-d-xo.html at 3 min 55 sec. Ted
Does it have a saftey
The safety will be part of the Remington 700 style trigger assembly, someone correct me if I’m wrong.
How many different calibers can you fire out of the same action with a barrel change out?
interesting action. good honest explanation. gotta say Im thinking about trying a CDG. I want to build a shorty .308 or 6.5 💪🏽
It's a no brainer. Best action available at any price. Ted
would love to have the money to build off your action but my financial situation is no longer what it was, great work though!!
Got mine 3 months ago and it’s been my favourite action so far!
Reminds me somewhat of my Sako extractor. But I scratch my head about the CDG extractor spring. Having conceptual trouble with how it works. But I AM confidant that it does work!
On second viewing it’s now obvious how it works.
Ted you’re the damn 🐐. Not sure of any other custom guys or any period really that put that much effort into showing the customer every little thing
I got a short action coming in, hopefully in January.
I have a question, does the conical breach run the entire face of the barrel?
Nope. It's like a big countersink. Drawing can be found here: www.americanrifle.com/shop/coup-de-grace-bolt-action-1747#attr=491,494,495,519,512,522,514,516
Love the presentation on why you prefer the "AW" magazine. It makes sense that they have less friction and higher capacity because they are a true double stack.
Can’t wait to get one
I would like to know the materials used for the bolt and the receiver. I looked/searched and only found a reference to alloy. Please add to website description. Thanks.
Sometimes I disclose materials, and sometimes I don't. Suffice it to say that the receiver is a DLC coated non-stainless alloy and the bolt heads are a 400 series stainless, with the exception of the 535 bolt head which has recently been changed to a DLC coated non-stainless alloy. Ted
Hoping for more videos!
