This is deterministic nonsense teaching people that repentance is a work that is unacceptable to God. Once a person puts on these fate glasses (which has its roots in a pagan religion (plato) all of scripture soon has to be viewed with the deterministic lenses that surplants real hope with election. Augustine of Hippo was the heritic that introduced this philosophy into the western church (along with being known as the Father of the Inquisition he is the founder of fatalism in the church) and Calvin picked up where augustine left off. And now we have people like this sharing what he thinks is the real gospel message, namely, election. Election is not good news to the world. In reality this is a message of terror and some mysterious superstition like religion where only a few lucky ones are chosen to go to heaven while the rest are basically fuel for the fire of an eternal hell. The message of election is only a few will arbitrarily be saved and the vast majority will be damned because God, in His pagan Plato like manner will only hand pick a few and sadistically damn the rest of men, women and children to hell for His eternal glory. How is this good news? This sounds like a small g god from Plato, not scripture. Determinists have ruled out common sense (teaching that man has no free will and has no ability to repent and be saved) and would rather believe in contradictions than scripture. Scripture teaches us that believing is not a work and the determinist claims that believing by a man is a work. This is a contradiction. They say that God does no evil, but in the next breath teach that God determines all things. They teach that God saves through election and not by faith (they confuse faith and turn it into a work as well). Calvinism is one big contradiction. God is good and God is evil. God shows no partiality and yet arbitrarily chooses only a few to be saved for some mysterious reason known only to Himself. Every thing they label as a mystery is in reality a contradiction (a fallacy that cannot be true). So what do all false teachers do to convince everyone that the other side is wrong? They claim that the other side is believing a contradiction. This is the pot calling the kettle black. Democrats are notorious for such tactics. They blame others for what they do themselves. The Free will position immediately eliminates all contradictions that are created by determinists. Now grace is real grace. Belief, repentance and faith is no longer looked at like a work but rather a humbling of one self and trusting in the work of Christ. The good news is for all who will believe and is no longer a fake news message of fake hope for only pre selected people. It is a genuine true sincere offer to all that has no strings attached. If you through the traditions of men, nullify God's word through your deterministic tradition, and say things like "all" really does not mean "all", and "whole world" does not really mean "whole world" then you have embarked on a dangerous path of determinisism and self evident contraction and are smearing the true character of God along with putting a stumbling block in men's path that is really not there. By making salvation into a situation where God has to sprinkle His magic pixie dust of election on the sinner (before the foundation of the world) to arbitrarily save them thwarts the true gospel plan of salvation and puts all the guilt of man perishing upon God rather than placing the sole responsibility on man. Man can respond to God's call of repentance, thus making man responsible if he refuses. The good news to fallen man is that Christ has come that we sinners of the whole world can be saved by Christ shedding His blood for all men and not limiting it for only the elect. What kind of message of hope is this election being the gospel nonsense? Here is the final proof that God doesn't save through the means of election. We would all agree that God could save all men. So one should ask if this is the way of salvation and has nothing to do with the will of man and his ability or non ability then why doesn't God save everyone? Think of God having a huge ocean liner that could fit all of mankind on it. Then you have all of mankind treading water, doomed to die in a short time. For God to choose or not choose anyone based on whether they are good or evil, capable or incapable to believe, can swim or not swim, or whatever scenerio you want to make up, would make Him guilty of showing partiality if He only snatched a few people from the water. There is no getting around this and it is not a mystery but a clear calculated crime. The guilt would be clearly on God since you have ruled out free will entirely. Since this would make God guilty of the sin of omission we must see that this is not how God saves mankind. End of the mystery. Rather God in His great mercy and impartial love holds out His spotless hands of peace and grace to all men that if they would humble themselves and believe in His only begotten son they can be saved and reconciled unto their Maker.This is the real way of salvation and all other schemes are frauds and work to undermine the truth. So don't let this guy pull the wool over your eyes and get you on this deterministic bandwagon that will upset the apple cart of the true gospel message of hope and reconciliation that God freely gives to all who come to Him in faith alone, through grace alone in Christ alone.

It must be inconvenient when there are hundreds of millions of Christians out there who are perfectly happy in their faith, but whose theology doesn't demand that they deny and lie about basic aspects of reality that have been discovered over the decades/centuries. If Science keeps confirming the bible, why are there still over 10,000+ different versions of Christians, Muslims and Jews believing in different versions of the same God? Billions of people, and none of you can agree on what your holy books say. Please sort it out and decide who is right before you even mention atheists.

A few years ago, I remember going to a talk in London and Simon (check shirt) responding to a question from the audience admitted that if it says it in the bible it must be ok to stone children to death. He was ask three times to clarify if that is what he meant. Responding with an affirmative yes, Talk about cognitive bias. Lost all credibility from that point. hope he as changed his mind, somehow I doubt it. There you go 5 minutes in and he as 7 children some who are in sinful ways. Barely 5 minutes in and he is already admits to break the rules laid down in the bible. I have too much respect for my kids that to ever let them near this guy.

This is the problem with “faith only” teaching: it denies a clear command of Jesus Christ in the great commission; the conversion accounts in Acts; clear teaching of Romans 6, 1 Peter 3,, etc. One cannot be certain of salvation or if the “sinner’s prayer” (which is not in the NT) is effective.

And these people wonder why we atheists think we're the smart(er) ones. Good science is good, no matter how old, because it is continually being put to the test. Has anyone EVER heard this uttered in a Sunday school classroom?: "Well, that's what the bible says. Now, let's put it to the test." Man. It's so funny feeling old now. I'm 38. I grew up doing music in churches and my favorite group was probably Newsong. I always LOVED Michael's voice but for some reason I always thought it was Eddie's voice. I love to see his journey now to sovereign grace styled/themed music and how God has formed his thinking. We have two boys and I am on a journey much like his spiritual journey. I hope... by God's grace... one day I can sit down on the phone and talk to Michael. I would love his counsel. I am part of a biblical, elder led church, but I'd still love his insight.
