Good discussion as always mike, bringing much needed sanity amongst the plethora of marketing👍

Cool to hear your thoughts on the Japanese Greco Strats. What do you think of the quality circa 1983-1985 (the years I lived in Japan)?
I think from 77'-90 you can't go wrong or too wrong, so quality only improved since the 70s. Thank you for taking the time to watch and reply!
Excellent , informative video on Greco brilliant guitar. I was lucky to pick one up at a flea market in Japan last week .. for $200 , in near mint condition, Honeycomb finish , Rock Spirits model - with a very unusual one screw bolt on neck , unplugged , the sustain on it rings out like a bell, nb In Japan they cost as much as some lower priced Gibson Lest Pauls ( Standard )
Bought one and it will be the last. You're better of buying Squires and Epiphones.
You keep knocking fender for rehashing the same guitars. Well they are their guitars. They designed them. They aren’t copying other people designs like your Japanese friends
Incorrect! They HIRED my Japanese friends to make Fenders in Japan. Not exactly copies. Appreciate your input though!
Hey Mike. Great show as always. I can honestly say, right now I’m very content with all the gear I have right now. And trust me, it’s not much.😁. 1 guitar 3 pedals and 1 amp. And I’m good. As you say.
I’m good is a good place to be!
Fender Champion 40 is a super nice amp ! I put an Eminence The Governor in mine .
Let’s hear your thoughts!
are you doing this on purpose ? i mean the gold bracket over the pickguard ? excuse me but that's both ugly and stupid
Answer to that above! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, everyone is welcome.
I just got a 1990 Gibson flying v 67 reissue that I love... now i was looking at a early 90s Gibson les paul classic with the les paul model on the headstock you got me interested with this video. Thanks man
Yup a roland jc-120 jazz chorus i bought it cause i was a huge albert king fan and bought it cause of him and was impressionable..it didn't take long for me to realize when i think of the ideal amp tone it is black brown and tweed fender.... good crystalline sparkling cleans and good natural tube distortion... the roland was way too stiff for my taste and i sold it....i got a 90 fender 63 reissue vibroverb and my fender 59 tweed bassman
Nice Mike !
Very Cool, Thankyou Mike. Nice Work. Looks awesome. Did I miss explanation Why the bracket on top of pickguard not underneath? All the Best. Cheers
I honestly can’t think of a reason why I put them on this way. My luthier always corrects it later..it’s a game between us! Cheers!
Great video, You have that guitar looking sweet Mike!
I’m working on it!

I like the background story of this guitar. I have one exactly like this, champagne sparkle, bigsby style tremolo, 2K pickups. And a buddy to it, a dark blue one with humbuckers and no tremolo. Bought them on a sale twenty years ago. Both very nice guitars, but heavy as hey ho! Much bigger and heavier than a Les Paul. Very good pickups though, and very well built all around. Extremely good guitars.
Hello, what's the difference between this classic premium plus and classic plus? And also even it's made from Jan to March, how can you confirm it's painted by Murphy? Thanks!
It's too bad that the tone doesn't come across in the video recording, hard to gauge the quality. But I heard other demos, and the Mooer Shimmer seems to deliver the goodies.
Is it heavy? Does it have a slim body?
Fender has been releasing new strats forever, that isn't going to change. I'm upset at the trend of more money for less value, seeing more and more units with half baked functionality instead of just offering everything they have (Fractal VP4 no amps, Kemper paid upgrades), pretty soon we are going to be at a gig and our sound is going to turn off with a message saying "to continue the benefits of full functionality, please pay 7.99). I can't believe bots are coming into a live guitar chat trying to spread rate bait lol
The bot thing was a hoot! First time for everything I guess…
Let’s hear your thoughts!
Great show Mike - I'm good (for now) :)
Sorry I was late but enjoyed the replay
Hey I appreciate you checking in!
Nice Mike
Nice
Those are some nice looking guitars

Very pretty Greco!
Thanks Anthony.

Ahoy from England 🏴
Ahoy there! Welcome.
That all depends actually, the high-end greco's had good pickups (DRY) that are highly valued today around 900USD a set. The PU-2, U-2000 , U-1000 were used in the lower models and are not quite valuable.
Looks ok to me
I enjoyed joining this livestream that was my first visit to your channel. FYI when buying new Seymour Duncan pickups, if you buy them directly from their site, no sales tax even if you don’t have an exemption certificate, free shipping, 21 (I think) days return policy even after the pups were installed as long as the leads remain uncut and no damage to the pickups. I’m outside of California so I don’t know if people in that state have to pay sales tax or not.

Two very nice instruments from Japan. That Greco Les Paul Custom is beautiful and being a bass player myself I especially like the 1983 Squier Jazz Bass. It looks like you’ve got a killer collection of guitars. I live in Japan so I’m quite partial to MIJ instruments.
It's a Gibson. And it's a Custom. And it's black. And it's certainly a beauty. But it's not a Black Beauty.
I get that statement actually..cheers!
you have some beauties there, those early mij jv guitars, are really japanese fenders, badged fender in japan, but badged squier for export, proper 50/60s reissues, unlike other squier guitars, including all the mij squiers afterwards,im also a big fan of japanese guitars
@@elbib2446 Me too obviously! Thanks for sharing!
@@USTTRM a tip on mij guitars,80s/90s blade guitars mij are great, very high quality, fender style designs, the 80/90s levinson blades also have a fender style headstock, apart from models for usa, which had suhr style beak headstock, mostly hand made in japan, lesser known than greco/tokai/fernandes,as they were a swiss company,so many think made in switzerland, but 80/90s made in japan, they originally only had a mij sticker on the neck heel, which got lost or peeled off over time, after 90s production was moved to korea, new fugly headstock, and became more production line guitars, not same quality as the 80/90s blades.the mij blades, many have momose written in neck pocket, which suggests made at aska/deviser factory, yasuo being head guy there, and one of japans top guitar factorys ,who make their own high end bacchus/momose guitars, blade also made some great basses, which you can sometimes find for a good deal moneywise, and not momose prices.not a lot of people in usa know of the early 80/90s made in japan levinson blades, top quality
that Greco is gorgeous a little fettling it will be better probably then a Gibson!! i love the squire bass as well nice buys!
Appreciate you taking time to watch!
Congrats on the new Greco. Looking forward to hearing it. I've got a 78 Custom Sunburst Greco and the pickups are terrific. Can see why they are increasingly sought after.
Yes I will have a 3 pickup 78' coming up here shortly myself. I am kinda looking forward as I really wonder about a 3 pickup LP🤔
@@USTTRM Oh sweet. Hope to see it on the channel.
@@BinaryDadYes sir!
OMG 😱 I LIKES 👍🏾
Appreciate the love!
Gorgeous Black Beauty man. They are really hard to beat!!
I agree.
