    I hesitate to buy the R7, with the sigma 150 600 sports. Because off the pulsing AF for close by objects especially, for what I see in reviews. With your settings this gets better? Thanks for your answer if you know.. Oww you already talk about it in your other video..thanks! 👍🏻

      @CrawPhotography หลายเดือนก่อน

      For me the pulsing issues have been far less, it does lose focus at times, but it doesn't pulse anywhere near as much as it did before I updated the settings, I am a lot more confident in the ability of it now, with the latest R7 firmware and these settings, then it has been in the past. Of course its not as fast as say the rf 100-400/500 would be, but its still pretty great considering how much of a budget option it is in comparison. Especially when compared with the 100-500.

    • @CrawPhotography
      @CrawPhotography 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have the eye detection mapped to one of the buttons on the back of the camera, so I can basically enable it when I need it rather then using it all the time, I do a lot of aviation and eye detection is basically no use for that use case. As for using these settings on the r10, Id assume that they would work fine, however that camera may be a little slower then the r7, not sure.

    Sorry but was hoping that 1.5.0 was new only sawnow that i have it for more than 13 days and it is absolute crap. nothing is fixed problems are still there only a bit less but more intense when it happens. So my r7 will stay in cupboard still :( , luckily i didn´t invest in rf lenses and bought some ef ones that i can luckily use on my new sony that works even with canon lenses. Oh and don´t get me started on the sensor noise even in full sun , even your pictures show the noise in the blue of the sky. On my sony and pentax that happens only in very lowlight. And stop making the haze responsible , have taken a lot of plane pictures in 30 deg celsius and only the canon is that bad, pentax with dfa lenses perfect screw focus lenses hit and miss, sony with g not gm lenses perfect ,canon r7 borrowed L lenses , 400 €camera quality pictures . R7 was my worst buy ever and where i live can´t get rid of it.

    • @CrawPhotography
      @CrawPhotography 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure what is happening on your end, but for me the issues are much less frequent and when they do happen, it doesn't seem any better or worse in that way, sensor noise will be a thing on APSC from any brand, some less then others, the R7 shows it more because of the higher pixel count. I've taken over 40 thousand pictures with the R7, and compared to the 7D mark II I had originally, the noise isn't close. The r7 is leaps ahead, but heat haze on distance subjects is a thing. Its part of the atmosphere. Also noise is evident when you crop in a lot on any camera, again higher pixel count of the r7, makes that more pronounced. You have the 1.6x crop from the sensor and then when you crop in, in general, it would be even worse. The fact is if you want less noise, your better off with a full frame camera like the r6/r5 but no camera is 'perfect'.

      @@CrawPhotography oh i know all the technical stuff about and could write a thesis about it , but short is very simple . getting rid of those videofeatures is a must if we want to get good PHOTOcameras , the speed of processor and transfer needed for those video features ruins the quality by introducing parasite noise ,there is a reason why usb and other cables must get more shielding the faster they transfer and in camera there is no place for that. also a reason why i didn´t go higher than the A7riii sony , what good does it do me when a 60 mp looks worse after denoising than a 42 or even my 36 pentax , say what you want but denoising destroys details and when i get my composition i want it as good as possible and not effed up by a technical deathroute forced upon us by some youtubers who should get a good camcorder with even better videoquality due to their sensors being optimized, vidoe on photocameras where meant as little bonus not a feature,at least in the beginning . and the r7 is a prime example of that ,not to forget it also has the iq destroying aa filter only video users are really wary about. but in general canon (that i loved ) is making quite some crap like all the others at the moment. same goes for AF ,why bother with a superb precise AF if that precision gets destroyed by aafilter and postprocessing. yes composition is more important , but why accept worse iq of said composition for an increase in price of the camera?

      I love my R7. Sure, there are a few things it could do better, like tracking and taking so long to come up after going to sleep. Noise starts being an issue at about 3200 iso, but that's not bad for an APS-C camera! Before that a light use of noise reduction software is all that is needed, if anything. I have never had a single client complain about noise or "softness" from having used noise reduction software. These are things only other photographers might notice or care about, and the software is getting better and better every year! I have a friend who refuses to shoot even his R5 over 800 ISO because he says the noise "ruins" the image! I don't see it. My clients don't see it! Some folks will never be happy!

    • @loboptlu
      @loboptlu 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alansach8437 having a cheap pentax kf too , k1m2 also but not the point, the kf is a 700€ apsc whose image quality up to 6400 is great , the r7 iq is abysmal compared to it ,heck even my old canon 2000d or rebel something in the us makes more appealing pictures,so it is not the apsc the real problem but that unhealthy obsession of video that induces extreme electrical parasitic noise ,plus my cheap pentax also does pixelshift ,even with mild movement correction mode, in superb quality , i can’t simply find even the slightest reason of that cameras existence. A camcorder makes better vids for less money and let that hybrid crap in the cupboards ( bad video and photo 🤦🏻) . And about some folks never be happy , i accept such a quality from 500€ cameras but never from a hyped 1500€ one, there is always a limit to letting corporation screwing people and most newer canons should not be praised so artificially to get them to understand we want quality for our money and not simple blind brand loyalty. I pay , so i expect an equivalent for it , r10 300 , r8 500 and r7 700 , that is their real worth.

    • @CrawPhotography
      @CrawPhotography 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alansach8437 A lot is down to person preference, I've used this camera at stupid iso late at night and it performs considerably well for an APSC, I just wouldn't have even got the image on the DLSR equivalent like the 7D mk II which is what I had before it. Noise is something people really no longer need to worry about, Even lightrooms built in noise reduction is perfectly fine, the problem is some people overdo it, like maxing it out and seeing weird results, rather then having it at 30-40 which provides good results depending on what the image is like, and also how far you crop in.

    Thanks for a great informative video. I really enjoy using my 7Dii. Not just for my sigma 150-600, but also my sigma 105 macro for insect photography. Also use my canon EFS 18-135 all the time for landscape photography as well at the canon 10-18. Will the R7 in body image stabilisation work in tandem with the in lens stabilisation for the canon and sigma lenses? I've heard a lot of conflicting compatibility information. My main driver for upgrading to an R7 is reducing the weight and that I can't always take a tripod with me when travelling abroad. This would be an easy decision to change if the 7Dii wasn't such an incredible camera. But if I can use a slower shutter speed hand held in scenes like moving water down to about 1/10 sec that would be a game changer for me. Would also be good if I can hand hold the sigma 105 macro for slightly longer as lowering the ISO will help greatly keeping details on the insects. Many thanks 🙏

    • @CrawPhotography
      @CrawPhotography 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment, for me the in body stabilisation is something I've yet to play around with, I haven't done much video with the camera, but what I had done was shot at 600mm zoomed out, without the stabiliser and that was pretty shaky, mainly from me trying to keep on target. As for images, I'm not sure how much a benefit it would be, thought it may have been nice to actually have that while shooting under 1/100th trying to get prop blur on planes, most of what I'm shooting is fast action birds/jets, so I tend to have high shutter speed anyways, which doesn't really benefit from it.

    A problem I have had is that I have two 64Gb cards in the camera, and the camera set to fill one and then start shooting on the other. Each card should hold thousands of pictures, yet when the first card hits about 450 images it switches to the second card. When I then try to review the images on the first card all I get is a question mark and "cannot review image"! I put the card in the computer and all the images are there and fine. Then I put the card back in the camera and all images are reviewable again!

      That's a very strange problem, I've never ran into this as I use 128gb cards and don't usually get close to filling them, I also tend to shoot so that both cards are being utilised in case 1 happens to fail. It could be worth seeing if others are having the same issue on reddit etc.

    This should be a brilliant feature but the post-processing experience is so bad it is effectively useless. 1. You cannot view 100% versions of the encapsulated raw files without waiting an age for them to load in dpp. 2. As you point out, you cannot bulk extract a bunch of files from a burst. I cannot think of a single use case where you would want to take a dpp-only burst file and condense it into a slightly smaller dpp-only burst file. The lack of bulk extract is a complete deal breaker especially when combined with point 1 because it adds so much pain to the workflow.

I also got the dock for optimisation, customised it and now the camera and/or lens is not auto focusing. Have you heard of this happening and if so do you have any suggestions?

      I've not heard of it not working with auto focusing, even without the optimisations I didn't have a scenario where the lenses just didn't auto focus at all, it was inconsistent at the least, but you could tell it was working, my best suggestion would be to make sure the settings switches on the lenses are working and maybe even format the lense software, reset to default to see if that fixes anything

    It would be nice if you put the name of the birds with the photo. Some of us are from other countries and aren’t familiar with the birds. Thanks

      That is something I will be doing in future, I've done it some of the previous videos and intended to keep doing it going forward :)

    The Australian bird photographer Duade said there is an issue with this lens and the R7 where the AF pulses.

    WOW!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for this "Expose'". Know I understand what it is, how it works, and how I'd better forget about it until firmware (hopefully - but I'm not holding my breath) makes it easier post processing.

      Glad it was helpful! I was unsure on how useful it was actually going to be, but I've been able to capture some images i'd have never got without it. So its useful, just a shame its a little bit annoying to get them onto the computer to edit but tbh, its something if I use, im willing to put in the extra time it takes.

    Good stuff, been chasing planes for years. I use an audio cable plugged directly into the scanner into the mic port of my cameras for shooting live sound videos which eliminates any external noise like wind, or people talking nearby. The only disadvantage is you can't hear the audio while recording from the scanner. You can still take pictures even with the cable plugged in the camera for static shots. Currently I use a UNIDEN SR30C for monitoring aircraft, which is a great radio for air scanning.

      Oh thats cool, I haven't really tried that but maybe its something to try in the future, I prefer hearing the audio from the scanner myself, just so I know whats happening wherever I am. But its cool that you can use it while doing video/photos on the camera too

    The Sigmadock is so important to update the lens. So many people complain about this lens, but have not done updates. I use the sport version for Canon and is so happy with it using my R5

      The sigma dock changed the way the camera works by a long way. It helps a lot and I'm glad to know that the lenses work well on the R5 as well. Like I said for me I can't tell if it the r7 being funny with its autofocus sometimes, or the lens itself. I'm partial to blaming the R7 from the experience of other users, even with canon lenses

      Haha yes! I was not expecting that, especially not with most of them going north, think I must have gotten one of the late movers. Was definitely a bit special, shame it was so far away but still got a decent result.
