Is Modern Petrol killing your classic car?
We visited Classic Collective in Bicester on the occasion of the Birmingham Motor Show and were very impressed by the vehicles they look after, but above all by the fact that these vehicles are prepared for driving and travelling and then do so.
The problems that have been reported to us, however, are very familiar - especially the damage caused by modern petrol!

Love the car! The stance is perfect. Are those Fiat/Cromodora wheels? Did you have to modify them in any way (I understand that they are normally 4 x 98mm)?

So how do you sell this stuff to a guy that has owned a 911SC (blow off valve in air box and later cam chain tensioners installed) for 22 years and run Castrol GTX 20W-50 exclusively? He's never had a mechanic recommend anything different? Heard others switched to synthetic but has never felt a need to switch to another oil? Cold start or otherwise?

Great engine mods. My 1972 Colorado orange 2002 had just a single Weber DCOE 40, upgraded Bosch distributor and Stahl headers. Recaro bucket seats. 320i steel wheels. Bilstein shocks.

I hired one of these in the UK for a day, it really is awfull to drive, terrible gear ratios, heavy steering, slow, too wide, blind spots, ect but still the coolest car ever and gets so much attention.

Greasy has helped me more than he can ever know with working towards keeping my inherited 77’ 911 on the road. No way can I replicate his quality of work lol, but at least his content helps me learn how to work on my car since I have zero mechanical background. I’d also doesn’t hurt that his content is pretty much ASMR or therapeutic for an aspiring gear head like myself. Like I said, my car is a 77’. My dad bought it in (about) 1982 in Germany while he lived there for a few years. When he moved back to the states in about 84’ he brought it back with him. He went on to build 3 different garage built race cars for SCCA and PCA racing and eventually got into the GT3 Cup Cars in the 996 generation. I took ownership of said 77’ 911 about 5 years ago when he passed. It had been parked in his “barn” for almost 30 years. I think by next spring I will have it sorted out enough to at least get it back on the road.
