Time for a Summer Backpacking Trip! We head to lower elevation with many of our favorite spots still covered in snow in 2023. Devils Lake is located Near Bear River Reservoir off CA Highway 88 It is a short hike in and not many folks seem to know about it. We tried to fish here but didn't see any or catch any. Overall a beautiful Sierra Lake worth a visit! Enjoy!
Cole Creek Fishing
มุมมอง 6711 หลายเดือนก่อน
We head to Cole Creek for some Fishing! (Near Bear River Reservoir off CA HW88. ) We saw fish here last Fall and hoped to land some on this outing. However due to high flow we were not able to see or catch any. We will try back later in the season when the flow is down in hopes for another crack at some Trout! Still, a beautiful Creek to stop by and enjoy if you are in the area! Enjoy!

Love this area. The trout fishing is amazing during spring!!!!
@@jungpark1969 Awesome This is a great area. I never had a chance to finish the lake, but will give it a try next time I am in the area! Thanks for the tip!
Is the road in a good condition for a little car?
I do remember the Road being a little rutted out in some areas, outback would work, but like Corolla might have ground clearance issues, mostly car would just have to take it slow
Good luck with that harbor freight wiring. If I look at mine funny it breaks.
I should note. I love harbor freight. But not their wiring. I really hope it doesn’t cause you issues.
Thanks for sharing...we have a small property near arnold and have never heard of this place....
I was just in Arnold yesterday! Hit up Giant burger in our way to Utica Res. This Highland lakes area Awesome! There is campgrounds right at the lake and another by the river on the way in. It is rare to get access to high elevation Alpine lakes like this without having to backpack in.
@upcountryoffroad2906 good burgers...that taco truck off to the right before arnold is pretty good ... have only been to alpine lake up there...this spot hopefully soon
Great trip! Teardrop set up was awesome and really like that side table! There is always something great about to happen when SPAM is on the menu! lol
Yeah I am really liking these Teardrop trailers. Easy to tow, compact but covers a lot of functionality in small package. Spam is fun to use in recipes. For me it is all about making it fried and crispy!
Yeah, great spot for Hiking, fishing and kayaking. Here is another time we had better luck with the fish: th-cam.com/video/MMPKiKH8GkE/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
This was awesome! What a place! I need to go fishing now!
it isnt Box beach the correct spelling is Vox beach
I have fished all that area for years i caught a nice fighter 19" rain bow trout went 6 feet out of the water fighting me i caught a 4 foot long American grayling in the fore bay above the swiming hole that fish took 45 minutes with 20 pound spider wire it came up and rolled its dorsal fin was like a sail fish it snap the line and it echoed like a fire cracker off the hill side and swim away
Wow, it is an awesome spot, sounds like you have had some good success! I want to go back again this season. Be sure to get some videos next time you go and post it.
Is this place only for dirk bike or can I take a rzr?
Hey, thanks for checking in! Unfortunately this place is just for Dirt Bikes and ATVS. The actual entrance is kind of narrow like little over 48" wide. For RZR you might want to check out Hollister Hills OHV park. Since they allow full size there, I believe RZRs are also allowed.
Great spot! Not stopping that rig! Rock - nah - pebble - just drive over it! 😂
Great teardrop! 🎉
Looked like an awesome trail! We all could have used more snow this year!
This was late spring at low elevation. But yeah more snow= more fun sledding!
Umbrellas are perfect! Nice video! We love camping in the rain and listening to it on the roof of the teardrop! 😂
I have never seen a trailer with umbrellas like that before. And that cover in the galley was 😍
Yeah I talked to the owner of the company. He wanted some free standing rain protection that you could still easily remove. They worked great. The galley cover was a new addition for them to help keep items in place on bumpy dirt roads. Overall lots of fun design details!
Excellent video, mate! Kind of an ASMR vibe to it as well. ☮
how is the cell service?
I don't remember it being all that Great except for if you were up on a hill or on the edge of the lake looking down hill.
A beautiful lake less a lot of human traffic. Fished it about 10 times around 2018-2020. Caught about 5 small rainbows and one 14” brown during those years right off of the dam. Thanks for the memories
Nice interview and trailer. I've always liked the throwback nostalgia teardrop trailers evoke.
Yeah, I am hoping to do a demo on one of these in the future to see how much nicer it is then sleeping in a tent in the ground!
Thanks for coming to our open house! This video is great, nice work!
It’s a beautiful day to go out offroad and doing fishing enjoy guys
Very nice place to hike enjoy your day.
Yeah, it is a pretty long hike. But a really cool river!
Amazing view
This is going to be a great project awesome
Yeah it has been a great project to learn about the trailer wiring. It is a cool little trailer.
looks like fun! but wow that is not very deep snow... hopefully it keeps coming down over the next couple weeks.// oh also i see the elevation there is less than 6,000... it should be considerably deeper higher up
Yeah, I wanted to check out the loop road by the Reservoir and it is a fun opportunity to cross the dam in snowmobiles. Your right, even now it is quite a bit deeper at Iron mountain or Kirkwood elevation.
@@upcountryoffroad2906 you had me worried for a minute there haha i thought wow that is not enough snow but that is plenty for that elevation
Any camping along this trail? Thanks.
AustinH7 yes, there are several good places to camp on the lower end by Near Bear River reservoir. A few on spur roads in the middle portion. But not a lot when it gets narrow and rocky. Then once you get to Allen or Mud Lake top portion (where you can exit to Highway 88) there are lots of Dispersed camping areas. If you watch my newer video I drive up to the top end of this trail where it dead ends. Several spots to camp up there. Be warned. Looked like there was already some snow in the area so the top end by Allen/ Mud Lake might have a few inches of snow. Good luck, be sure to post a video of your adventure!
That looks like a really nice spot. I'm kind of sad the season is coming to a close.
When one season closes... Another begins... I am looking forward to getting the Snowmobiles out! Keep your fingers crossed they behave themselves.
Nice restoration! I still have a’72 4 place trailer. Sold the machines years ago but it’s still handy for carrying plywood or lawn tractor.
Yeah, I love how low to the ground it is and easy tilt feature! Weighs almost nothing but still pretty stout.
That turned out really nice.
Thanks! I am pretty happy with the results. Especially redoing the lighting.
Going this Saturday boss 👊
Good luck! Post a video on how you do! Just try to get there early when the lake is nice and glassy!
@@upcountryoffroad2906 I’ll try posting one if possible 🐟🐡🐠
Hows it going? Are there bass in here?
Maybe... I never caught any. We mostly had good luck with planted Trout. I imagine there might be some. Good luck if you decide to go. It is a great spot, especially if you hit it on a weekday.
@@upcountryoffroad2906 ok thank you I appreciate the response
Planning on going up this weekend. Any cell signal there.
Hope you have an awesome trip! I remember a few places had signal. It seemed to be when you had line of sight with Bear Valley ski resort area. Hope to see you post a video of your trip!
Thank you!@@upcountryoffroad2906
What a fun trip, I hope we can do it again! Maybe Mendocino?
I like the sound of that! Throw in a River or a lake and you have yourself a deal!
Good spot was just out there yesterday
What’s the best time to go there? July or August maybe I’m worried about the road condition
We went in the Fall and Roads were good. This year because of high snow you probably want to wait until August. www.fs.usda.gov/goto/r5/SnowDepth This is a good site to see snow levels. Ideally you should have dry roads after a few weeks of Sunny days after all the snow is gone from the area. Good luck! Awesome spot.
@@upcountryoffroad2906 thank you!
We use to have a cabin in Arnold and we'd go up to Highlands go escape the heat. Great fishing and camping. Miss the area! Thanks for the memories.
Nice outing. Voss slabs are fun. There are some cool campsites at the far side. Well, before the fire that is. I haven't been out since the Caldor fire
Yeah, I could of spent another hour just playing on the Granite. The good news is further up the ridge there is another spot where the trees were saved that has a few good camping spots. This was my first trip into the burn zone. The undergrowth is coming back, but will be a lot of years till the the trees grow back.
Nice day out, so glad it's slowly warming up. How's the snow machine adventures?
Got both sleds happy now... But not a lot of time to hit the Sierras, so got them put away for next winter. Hoping to plan a snowmobile trail ride, maybe the area past Bear River Reservoir. Supposedly there are some designated sled routes there.
I need a snowmobile to get around the neighborhood now!
Amen to that! We now have 3ft of snow at our place that is at about 4k ft.
@@upcountryoffroad2906 nice, we're the same elevation. 3'+ falling right now! So excited to keep shoveling....
Well done!
Nice, the one clear day!
Yeah, exactly! We moved it up before Christmas to get the clear day, only downside is the snow was pretty icy. The little but of fresh snow in between the Trees made me realize how smooth these sleds would feel in a good 4" to 6" of fresh powder! Maybe next time.
@@upcountryoffroad2906 looks like you'll have plenty of opportunities this winter!
bro your idle is really high like way to high
If you are talking about the Wr250. Yeah I had the choke on during some of it to keep it from stalling while driving real slow.
Wow those sleds are in pretty nice shape overall...nice catch! I liked all the 80's references...I never really noticed until now.
Nice to see those oldies up and running, I got a '80 Moto Ski , and it's a relative of yours for sure...I found yearly that the biggest hardship to starting was old gas...I now drain the carbs yearly, but recently found that "TruFuel" premix works wonders for starting an old relic! I did a video of my revive on my channel if you want to check it out.
Thanks for the tips! We need all the help we can get as we are new to Snowmobiles! I will be sure to check out your video!
That's great! Just in time too.
Heading to Iron Mountain Snow Park tomorrow!
Hoping for some cool sledding videos this Winter! I think an 80's neon snow suit is in order too.
Yeah, hoping to fix the ignition issue this month. So true on the matching 80s wear. One did come with a set of vintage SkiDoo saddle bags to hold gear on the back! Hopefully by November we get a first Start Video!
Nice ride, was that during the heat wave? I can't tell you how happy I am to be done with that.
Weather was actually pretty good. This was on our way back from Highland Lakes.
