As one year closes, we take a look ahead to the next one on the Oregonian Sports podcast, setting goals for the local sports teams and figures as they enter into 2025. Can the Blazers shed some weight - at least contractually? And can the Timbers and Evander decide that what they really want is to work things out? And the Portland Diamond Project... really should host more in the new year. Othe...

"Better teams tend to just WIN!" 😁
Just like to say the Duck Hunt went well... blew your fucking doors off before you realized a football game was occurring... the O still stands for the amount of national championships you have. Sweet uniforms tho. 👌
Go Buckeyes!!!!
Hey Bill Oram, the system didn’t fail Oregon, Oregon failed Oregon, this seems to be a trend for them
no, ohio state was that much better.
@@pauliewalnuts2527 absolutly
This guy has no clue. It’s extremely hard to beat a team twice. It’s a huge influence on the game. As we saw last night. The first win was a fluke anyways. OSU wins that game 8 times out of 10. Oregon got lucky and used a well thought out but cheap tactic to waste that precious 5 seconds OSU needed to beat them the first game.
Nah bro why did you break that rose you could’ve broken a fake rose cmon. Go bucks!!!
OHIO GO BUCKEYS WOOO❤❤❤
Everyone already knows this. Oregon is a flashy gimmick team that prides itself on poor sportsmanship, poor standards, and poor ethics. You take all of the rejected players with serious issues and behavior problems. You are just a California school in Eugene. Nobody dreams of playing at Oregon and that’s the problem. They settle for it because it’s the only chose or most play time. Also, Oregon doesn’t play anyone of note throughout the year. I’m sorry, but barely winning against Indiana, penn state, and Ohio state on a poor play early in the year means nothing. I’m a Oregonian and hate the ducks
Unlike Ohio state where academics come first over sports and it is all about being humble
34-0 😂
Oregon can’t win big games
We won 41-21 booom
No. Ohio state is chasing wins. Yall chased clicks and got your ass handed to you while you trying to make slick comments
We won 41-21 duck huntin Ohio vs the world
The Dicks coaching staff are great recruiters and that is it
Yikes
Absolutely blown out. Y’all spent 23 million for this roster? Haha Go Bucks!!
Zero an exactly 💯 the come back. Hits different. Just use to that feeling. An they needed it. The push an more
I see the resiliency.
LaMichael James! Still my favorite!
Ducks will do the same thing to oSu. Like they did to Tennessee
Nah
I think you me OSU will do the same thing we did against Tennessee against Oregon. BTA
you know what they say about college football playoffs? you dont like the format, just wait 5 minutes!
tell lane kiffen
REFS!!! THATS THE KEY TO THE GAME... REFS NEED TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY THE LAST 2MINUTES... LET THE PLAYERS DECIDE!! NOT LIKE LAST TIME!!!
😂😂😂😂😂
So, you think the refs should refrain from calling obvious penalties?
Go ducks
Dripped out bus😂
Go Ducks
I can’t wait
Scoo ducks 🦆🔛🔝💚
Scooo ducks!
Really cool story and good job guys you’re doing good!
You guys just delivered the best "good feeling" coverage of a jersey number, that I have had the privelege to witness was this podcast. Thank you for the peek bekind the gridiron curtain. definately a five duck rating! 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆
Great podcast James & Bill! Go Ducks!
Fascinating. NO video, are you kidding me? (I worked at The Oregonian for 10+ years, they used to be a top media outlet. These days? Hahahahahahaha!)
Here's that video: th-cam.com/video/hW1r_ys0ROc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8myB--ABgx3Lpr0U
Buckeye fan here. I feel like the sports media is legitimately not talking about Oregon to get under the Ducks skin. That, and they want to blast Ohio State if they lose and pounce on Ryan Day. Hate it. It's the Rose Bowl! The Grandaddy of them all. This is the best bowl in the country. lets show the country how the Big Ten puts on a show! Good luck, Oregon! Go Bucks!
Wow, just blind homerism. Onside kick and a fumble recovery on short field that led to 14 of your points, does not equate to control. It took a weak sauce Offensive Pass Interference call to give Oregon the win. Those don't happen in a vacuum, but to act like Oregon was in control is false.
Most commentators I’ve heard claim Ohio State would have won in Autzen if they had that 1 or few more seconds left. That argument is a bit presumptuous. A field goal attempt could have failed for several reasons: A straight up miss, a bad hold, a bad snap, a block, a penalty. Furthermore, Oregon had key players out due to injuries. Plus there were other officiating calls and circumstances that swung against the Ducks. I agree this next game will not turn out the same, Ohio State will have a new plan and great experience for a rematch - and ditto for Oregon. Granted, the Buckeyes had a great game on both sides of the ball when they stomped Tennessee; they played at their ceiling. Can they, or will they play like that against Oregon in the Rose Bowl? They can, but must play to know whether they will, or not.
This OSU game plan will be entirely different than the first game, especially the defensive plan. I'm anxious to see how your QB handles the pressure.
All OSU needs to do to win is be a half step faster on the snap or on the route, or expend 5% more effort, or 5% more intellectual clarity.
Two great offenses, whoever runs the ball the best will most likely win. Oregon outran them last time 155 to141.
Oregon EZ 48-24. Heard the narrative, a 1 point win by Oregon due to Ohio state Howard blunder.... NAH.. Oregon had 500 yards of offense, recovered 2 fumbles, Howard was running for his life (without Oregon's top ten NFL rusher Burch even playing), so called experts are wrong, OSU beat TN in cold weather they won't have in Rose Bowl. Oregon's bad coaching and Refs cost them at least 14 points-- so Oregon should have won first game easily by 15+
Oregon gelled quicker than Ohio State this season. But Ohio State is peaking at the right time. And lets be honest, ohio state lost the first game more than Oregon won the game. Going to be a good game
and that is exactly why Oregon will win. After the Ducks won the last game Ryan Day did not give one second of respect to Oregon for winning. Oregon left 12 points on the field due to their own unforced miscues, not because of Ohio St Defense. And Jordan Burch, The Ducks stellar D-lineman did not play. Oregon by 7.
Even with those players being healthy, Oregon STILL allowed Penn State to gain close to 300 yds on the ground. I'm sure coaches at Ohio State watched that game to see the schemes that were used. Add in the home field advantage and how their qb had to call 2 timeouts (1 in the first half and another in the 3rd qtr) because the crowd was super loud...I don't think this time around, the results will be the same
To quote the late legendary ohio state coach Woody Hayes when asked if there is any team he wouldn't want to play, he said a team that I beat earlier in the season. It's very difficult to beat a team twice in the same season. He also said the worst is to be ranked number one, because young players start to believe all the stuff they hear and they get knocked off.
I think this game comes down to making the adjustments to the zone concept Ohio State has used too help the running game come alive if they break that code you can figure out away to slow down the passing attack we have the edge rusher to get in Wills face and cause problems (side note Howard has thrown 4 INTS in his last 3 games compared to DGs 1 INT in his last 3 games) I think the first points off turnover wins the game
Buckeye fan here. I met an Oregonian (or another Oregon newspaper) media team when doing volunteer work in 2011 at Tohoku Tsunami relief in Iwate Prefecture. They were so kind and helped us volunteers as well as getting a story to write on. I have my one impression of the state of Oregon through that newspaper. It is a privilege to play Oregon on New Year's day in the Rose Bowl. No matter who wins, I will always remember just regular Oregon people as those who care beyond the world of sports.
Ohio state isn't a great football team, their only chance is if their qb wins the game.
hahahahahahahahahahah clown
This statement shows you are ignorant to what Ohio State is. They are the most talented team in CFB bar none. Oregon is #2. This is the national championship game.
You figured out everything there is to know about football but can't grasp it's a kids game. People need to work and have other responsibilities and don't have the time to go into details.@clydeorris4093
It would have been by more with a correct call on the Basa int.
great stuff!
Gonna be a great game. Go Ducks!
Good job guys you’re doing good! Go Ducks Merry Christmas
I guess this is Tom Bradys pick for Quarterback. And if Tom approves then we have no choice but to sit back and give him a chance.
That’s an easy tell. He was unhappy
It doesn't matter!! This playoff system is just as bad as the previous systems!!!!!
