Wizards of the Tower
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 5 พ.ย. 2022
You are a brave band of adventures on a quest, but were to start? Rumor has it two wizards live in a tower in the forest, not far from where you are located. The Bard says, lets start there, those two wizards might know something we don't, and they might help us out for a small fee. So, you travel henceforth to find the two wizards Thomas The Wise and Delaney the All Knowing, to see what knowledge they might part on to you before you start your quest.
You soon find them, and low and behold, they are more than willing to part their many bits of knowledge on to ye, brave adventures.
Thomas has been playing TTRPG's since 2007 starting with D&D 3.5
Delaney has been playing TTRPG's since 1979 and DMing just as long ,in her own homebrew world. She started with D&D 1st Ed, then 2nd, 3/3.5, and 5th Ed and plays mainly in Pathfinder 1st Ed. She has played many of the older TSR boxed games and a host of other TTRPG's

Playing with Handicaps
This episode came about after watching another TH-cam Channel. In that episode, they host talked about if you had a real world handicap, would you play in in the RPG? This host was not in favor of having wheel chairs or other handicaps in came.
We wanted to talk about Handicaps in RPG's and playing them, or if you had them, would you want to play them.
We do not mean to offend or alienate anyone in this discussion, and just wanted to discuss it in game.

The RPG Consent Form
มุมมอง 37วันที่ผ่านมา
In today’s world of RPG’s, you have players who are very sensitive to subject matter. In almost forty-five years of playing, we had never heard of an RPG Consent form, that is, until about two years ago, when screening new players it was brought to our attention, and we were asked if we used one. I had never considered it until that point. In this episode, we are going to discuss some of the it...

Final Fantasy actually hits on this well in 7&8s original release. In 8, Ward loses his voice, but through gestures and other NPCs narrating smaller actions (since graphics weren’t capable of that so early on without a cutscene) he had a clear personality and his motives and methods were clear. Barret Wallace of Final Fantasy 7 has a gun on his arm instead of a hand. The game tells you how it occurs, but most people playing the game would not classify him as “handicapped” because he is that capable. He is strong enough to climb with one hand and his grip with said hand means the average antagonist could not overpower something from his grasp. As far as GMing, one of my players is a merfolk. She can shift between legs and fin, but has a “fishbowl buggy” built by the artificer in the group that travels at her move speed. Only once so far in over 10 sessions did the buggy become an issue: they ventured into a cave to save a girl from the denizens and the girl had a way to crawl out, which would make the opening tight for the full grown adventurers, but really impossible for the buggy to get out that way without first enlarging the hole (because otherwise they would have seen an entrance that wide as they cased the cave exterior). What happened next was a frantic series of dice rolls to see if they could open the passage wide enough to get the buggy through before said denizens realized what they were doing and tried to go through the passage AND THEN to see if they could CLOSE that passage before the denizens came through it after them. The idea was to make them go back later to deal with the denizens for good if the buggy had to be temporarily abandoned, but never to penalize them for extra gear that gave no in game bonus. Also, I’m not a monster, I wouldn’t kill off the sea turtle pet that also lived in the buggy bowl. Later in the campaign, I have a monastery where a blind monk is being held captive by a vengeful air elemental. Having been raised at the monastery, the monk knows the layout and due to having to rely on other senses, can sense air discrepancies and thus sense the elemental better than most, as well as hearing would-be assailants. I guess you can just assume he is the monk version of Daredevil, who is also a good example of someone differently abled in sci-fantasy.

@eldritchmorgasm4018 Thank you for the post. Things that make you go Hummmmmmm! Ideas start to churn in me brain and evil chuckles come out
Hi. I'm autistic so it can be very hard for me to roleplay characters who aren't. NPCs are easier than PCs because they're often one dimensional plot points with a predetermined personality. Though I've never made autism a specific beat of any of my characters it's hard to stop my personal thought processes from influencing how a character behaves. So it comes down to basically all my characters being autistic too because i don't really know how an authentic allistic character would behave. This usually has very little effect on any gaming though. It's more background character fluff. It does effect my GMing though. I have to be careful about how I leave hints or hooks, how i do puzzles or red herrings. Autistic and allistic minds often pick up or see importance in different things. TTRPGs have always been a place where outsiders can go to roleplay being superheros. Where people who are pushed out of society can escape and become something else. Or be themselves in an environment that doesn't punish them for it. And it's that sentence that i think is a key one in any of these discussions. It's why i think having disabilities in TTRPGs is fine. Whatever the disability is once the player and GM together iron out how it will work in game then it's no more of an issue than classes. Sometimes players want their characters to reflect themselves, sometimes they have little choice like I said about myself earlier. Sometimes players want their characters to be something they could never be. Is there really that much difference in game between those two? I don't think so.
@Localfriendlyanarchist Thank you SO much for this comment. Neither of us had heard the word Allistic before. Thank you So much for educating us on that today, we really appreciate it. Yes, Agree, as long as the Player and GM iron out how it will work, is the important part Thank you again for your insightful post, and for helping us understand more, and to appreciate you, our follower
I think the issue of the handicapped character should rest squarely on the shoulders of the player, the one that wants to play said character. It is up to the player to describe their handicap and how they overcome adversity, much like how a player describes their actions, through the lens of alignment.
@aattrpg3199 Thank you for the comment. Agreed
I don´t see any problem. on the contrary it can be fun because it is not so normal. we love adventure right. nice topic guys.
@HornsfromtheDeep Thank you for the comment, and agreed.
🥳🫂👍🏿 There is an interesting tendency when talking about people who cannot walk or hear or have any other physical disability from a non-disabled perspective - they hypothesize what those people would want to fantasize about without any personal insight into those communities and as tho they are homogenous - some people want to imagine themselves without and some with, and that preference can change from game to game - the right way to approach it is what you closed with: ask
dnd is a hero based wargame. we understood that in the 80's and 90's. i have seen people playing 5e that have never run combat. they literally playing real life as commoners in dnd. they all use those consent forms and can not separate real life vs make believe violence, war or other bad things. somehow fantasy make believe hurts them the same as real world trauma. 9:40 blood issues - my dad was one of those people that in real life fainted at blood but in game he knew it was make believe in his imagination and could play a barbarian warrior that ripped monsters apart and bathed in blood for his war god. it allowed him the freedom to do things he could never do in real life. separation of real and imagination is a very important thing to have.
@Shadowslave604 Thanks for the comment. Our next episode will kind of hit upon escaping handicaps or playing them if you have them. I find playing someone not like me all part of the fun. That is after all Role Playing
phobias are real and can be very debilitating, great vid topic gang cheers...Keep 'em Rollin'
@swordsnstones thanks for the comment. Yes, they can be. If you don't have any, it is hard to imagine, and I think if we don't have any, we don't think about them
lol consent for that allows me to beat yer ass if you upset the game, dont show up regularly, play like a dick....etc :)
Having DMed both euphemisms and having characters roll for grapple checks as well as literally just saying “and fade to black” I think everyone at the table preferred “fade to black. I feel like it is difficult to not have some semblance of fantasy-racism if the “big conflict” is war or an invading kingdom, as it sort of falls under propaganda, like how Tolkien has a default of “all Orcs are evil” or even how the player’s handbook pointing out how certain fantasy-races/species react with one another. If you are talking about bringing real-world style racism in, I feel like it would be forced if you have the other fantasy-races coexisting in the same space, especially if it is not rooted in nationalism between two [priorly] warring nations. A human having the sentiment of “I trust this hundreds of years old elf, this dragonborn, this goblin, and this hill giant with whom I’ve had no interaction solely due to the color of your skin. It isn’t that I think you are a changeling or possessed either” to me would be a leap that breaks immersion.
Forced as in “someone is really working hard trying to shoehorn this into the game”.
@angelojohnson9441 thank you for the comment. Very true. Fantasy novels are filled with them. I am reading R.A. Salvator the Demon Awaken series right now and the main character has a Major hate on for Goblins, Giants and that worlds Dwarves. He will go out of his way to kill them even if they are running away and no longer a threat Yes, Fade to Black... Agree
Before I get too far in the video, I added a system to my table called the defense matrix. It goes Armor Class -> Glancing Hit -> Armor Reduction -> Immunities/Resistances/vulnerabilities. AC is still the standard hit or miss, Glancing blows is a range above your AC determined by your armor where damage is halved, Armor Reduction is the amount that incoming damage is reduced by, and I,R,V is as it usually is; lastly crits bypass everything except I,R,V. All this together gives a mechanical play experience where you need to hit someone wearing full plate really hard or in the right spot to deal damage through the armor, or you can get lucky with a crit and deal max damage as if you found a gap like the eye slit with your dagger. Armor categories determine your AC formula and the armors themselves give your Armor Score which determines your Glancing Blow Range and Armor Reduction. Full plate would have an AS of 5 and heavy armor would have an AC formula of 11 + Prof Bon + Dex Mod (Max 0). So a lvl 4 fighter with a shield and full plate would have an AC of 15, GR of 20, and AR of 5. Assuming a monster had a +5 to hit, they’d miss on 1-9, need to deal 12 damage on a 10-14, need to deal 6 damage on a 15-19, and crit on a 20. This would overall make fights less of a yo-yo but still allow there to be big moments that can turn a fight
@russelldavis1359 Thanks for the comment and sharing how you do armor as damage reduction
I don't understand the hate that pay for play gets. These are not buddies that are charging friends to play. These are strangers who are willing to pay because they can't find a game group. I've paid before and was happy to do it.
@fartymcbutterpants7063 Thank you for the comment. If as person wants to pay, that is there choice. But lets be honest, that adds up. It's like having to pay for more DLC for a PC game and you get a few more hours of fun. People will do it. As for finding groups to play with? I disagree. I know people who do pay to play and yet, they could have a local game but choose not to. The convenience of staying home, avoiding people, not making solid connections with people. I also know plenty of DM's who do not charge 1 penny for games. It is the pay to play I do not get. It's the paying $20+ a session to play, every week in a game that will last years. That adds up. That's money I would rather spend on other things. But that is myself. To each their own and how they spend their money, as long as they are not hurting anyone one stealing from someone to do it.
🥳🫂👍🏿 I’ve also seen it done by the DM as a end scene of the enemies of the PCs working toward their goals or a scene of a complication
@TwinSteel Thank you for the comment. That is also a cool idea
Since we have a habit of ending in the middle of things due to people getting tired, I might change this to “How is [Player’s character’s name] feeling right now about what is happening right now?”
@angelojohnson9441 Thank you for the comment. That is a wonderful idea to. We like it!
we dont delve too much into back story as on our world it is survival and skills that will be learned as you play. Some have a skill base in their history that we can incorporate somewhat but i wanted the pcs to be on an even playing field in our world as having a lengthy back story doesnt really give anyone advantage per say
@swordsnstones Thank you for your comment and sharing. It may not be for everyone. I as a player always write even a little so I know the character better
I like this idea and will try to remember to do it at the end of my next game
@RIVERSRPGChanne thank you for the comment. Glad you like this idea. We think it adds a it of flavor
Interesting talk - A few comments - I often play online, with a regular game having people from Australia, the UK and Canada. It's great and much easier for me to work into my schedule than face to face. Charging for games - haven't done that (yet?), but if you are saying 'don't charge for something that is fun', then I am out of a job. I have fun at work... I wouldn't have an issue with a GM charging. I spend two to three hours prepping for a three hour session. It's something players value. I also pay for Zoom, foundry... I don't charge but can understand why people do. Not at DnD in a castle level, mind you. As for trolling or diminishing players , I have not experienced it, but would definitely not tolerate it either, f2f or online, even in random con games.
@raldanash_rpg Thank you for the post Yes, the great thing about online gaming is you get to play world wide. I have done that in a 7th Sea online game which was fun. Nope, not saying don't charge, I just would not do it, and prefer not to have to pay to play. Only did that in my 5E games I played, and it got pricy using free apps even for the DM. I can understand if you have to keep buying software. But I think if I had to buy software to DM, I'd find a different game to play (Well at least not pass it down to my players, once again, that is just me). Yeah, D&D in a castle, sounds like fun. But I'd rather take that money and tour castles for the same price or less. But to each their own. Glad to hear, you have not ran into diminishing players. That is never a good thing
our sessions so far are challenging, namely because we have up to 4 in person players and up to 3 online. So i set up one computer for the in person players to see the owlbear maps, on a separate monitor on the game table. Then i have another computer set up to view and talk to the online players over zoom, aaaand a third laptop for me to run the owlbear maps from the GM side. We would love to all be in person but some players live up to an hour or more away from me. i also run ethernet cable for 2 of the computers so we dont have issues with wifi crapping out. Its a challenge, and a bit of work, but i love it and it enables us to play. WHOOHOO!! keep 'em rollin'
ps can you please send me your discord link again...ugh i keep getting booted out of channels randomly .... lol dont think its cuz im boring but hey ya never know

I prefer in person gaming. I do like the commute after the game if I'm online though. I also do not play online with people I don't know. I'm fortunate that I have a rather large group of people to play with too.
@RIVERSRPGChannel Thanks for the comment. WAY Back in the day, we had 12 players (I have DM'd for as many as 15 in further back in the day), most all at one time. It was a crowded table, but fun. Now we are lucky to have the 4 we have. Even the online games, we are lucky to have 4, 5 if we are lucky. Yes, the commute home is great online LOL
Math is Hard... 5X20 is $100 :-P
I had forgot to correct that in the episode
I don’t think I would particularly care about someone’s backstory and whether or not they have one in a module and definitely not in a one shot. I think if you’re running a homebrew, that isn’t a one shot, however it will most likely matter. At the same time, I dislike when, just like when people pick one alignment and then act another, they say something in their backstory, which does not follow how they perceive themselves in game. For example: “My sister stabbed me in the back and pushed me off a cliff almost killing me, so I dragged myself out of the chasm and brought her to justice thus why I don’t trust people easily” and then when an NPC says they lost 30 sheep all at once to a monster in a cave that is in a far and secluded area, but that NPC will lead the party there, they do not question the NPC’s motives.
@angelojohnson9441 thank you for the comment. I agree. A one shot or simple module, nope, not needed. And yes, your example is spot on
One of these guys has autogynophilia and is using web broadcasting to satisfy it. It's like having my eyes assaulted.
In the latest edition Shields can have Renforcing runes I dont think you can put runes on shield in the older PF2e edition

27:45 Yep, Pathfinders look over at the D&D 5e guys and say "yeah, we have to *WORK* for a living over here!" LOL
HAHAHA
21:24 He means Actions here when he says Rounds... Some spells exist over multiple rounds but you have to sustain it for 1 action. So you can sustain a conjuration (Fire elemental) for 1 Action (Fire elemental then gets 2 actions for you to use with it) then Cast a Fireball for 2 Actions = 3 actions
YUP, Tom mixing words
16:38 More than you think, If you Critical Succeed or Critically Failure what acually happens on a nat 1 or nat 20 is the your result shifts up or down a Degree of Success. Now "usually" this does result in what you expect, a Critical Success IS a Critical Success and a Critical Failure IS a Critical Failure. *But what happens if you have a high weapon or skill (Level 11) and you nat 1 a Goblin?* AC:11 You roll a nat 1 + Strike (+21) = 22 Hit Now, a 22 hit against a AC:11 would be a Critical Hit! (10+ over AC) but, you rolled a Nat 1 so the result has to "shift" down to a success. You still managed to hit it because your skill is so high. *The opposite is also true.* AC:33 You roll a nat 20 + Strike (+2) = 22 Hit This is a Critical Miss! (10 under AC) BUT! its a nat 20 so that Critical Miss Becomes only a failure (shifts up one), you didnt hit, but you still have all your limbs at least.... *OR* AC:33 You roll a nat 20 + Strike (+5) = 25 Hit This is a Miss! You rolled a Nat 20 so... its a HIT! (not a critical But a hit) Thing to remember Nat 1s and Nat 20s move the degree of success up or down depending, they dont CHANGE it to a Crit Failure or Crit Success This doesnt happen often but it does happen. If it is happening a lot, your GM is gonna have to have a good hard look at his game. (DCs (a AC IS considered a DC) are either all too high or Too Low) See 2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2286&Redirected=1
@willot4237 Thanks for the comment. I think 3 of us all missed that :-P
10:28 A Lot of GMs now play with the optional rule "Free Archetype". An Class Archetype (There are Organizational Archetypes too (guilds/groups)) is a how PF2e does Multiclass (for most people, there is Dual classing but no one does that). Its gives you a taste of another class. You can be a Fighter with a Sorcerer Archetype and can now cast shield. But 85% of your character is still fighter. Usually you have to give up you Class Feat you gain every 2nd level if you want to develop your Archetype. The FREE rule doesnt have this stipulation. GMs be careful, CLASS Archetypes can allow for much more powerful characters but MY GOD the options!
PF... Where Options are opportunities
The New Edition of Pathfinder is known in the community as "Remaster", So if people see others refering to "The Remaster", they are talking about the latest version. A lot of the changes in the latest edition is stripping out any WOTC stuff. Pazio (for reasons...) wanted to pull away from WOTC D&D all together and remove or changed a lot of stuff that also occured in D&D. Good you have the latest edition as well because it also has the erratas in it. So if something doesnt make sense see what it says in the latest edition
I do, no one else does
I agree The backstory can give the DM plot hooks for future use. I don’t like the 9 page backstory though. Good chat
@RIVERSRPGChannel Thank for the comment. Detail good... A Song of Fire and Ice... Bad
Calling the Remaster Core "Third Edition" is incredibly misleading. PF2 and PF2r are the exact same game. PF2r incorporates the errata accumulated since the 2019 release of the game, cuts off the vestigial OGL content and removes unnecessary details from the characters sheet. I certainly wouldn't say that building a character in PF2 is more complicated than building a PF1 character. Yes there are a lot options to select from, but there is far less calculation required. It's a depth of options, not a depth of complexity.
@matthewblanchard9805 So we only did that because I have seen some like Ronald the Rules Lawyer even point out that it any update and release of new books is eventually a new version. And yes, it is "The Same" It is "Not the same" If your DM does not have revised, and you do, it really is different.
Why don't you use Pathbuilder? It is very easy
@miguelricardovargas Thanks for the comment. We normally play Pathfinder 1st ed, but 1 of our players wanted to DM PF2E, So this is what we like and dislike about 2E so far
Yes the players always do that If had to improv a few sessions because the players did something totally unexpected. Those have been some of my best sessions too. Like I said before I do a lot of different ones in how I run games
@RIVERSRPGChannel Thank you for your comment. I am a total improve DM
I do a little of many attributes in DMing. I used to be adversarial but have changed over the 30+ years of DMing.
@RIVERSRPGChannel thank you for the post. If you grow as a DM, then that is good
Yes I’ve had this happen and it’s not fun
Sorry you had that
A good way to help new players know their dice is to have a different color for each die type. So they roll the red die to attack, and the yellow die for their sword damage, etc.
@keithulh, thank you for the comment, Unless... they have their own dice and refuse to use any other dice. But yes. The other is I a sheet of paper with the dice picture and name
🥳🫂👍🏿 Thank you so much for sharing these rules with us ❤
@TwinSteel you are very welcome
another great vid gang cheers... kepp em rollin
@swordsnstone Thank you very much, we appreciate that
Yuck
@Briggs-l8w Yuck What?
They did have adventure paths in dungeon magazine and the guys that did the adventure paths didnt have their contract to do the magazine extended and they formed paizo, named their game pathfinder and kept on publishing adventure paths. I prefer running modules as it cuts down on a lot of work. There is a lot of great campaigns out there i want to run as i just recently got back into the hobby Age of worms, WHFRP Enemy within, Call of Chthulhu Masks of nyalorthotep, two headed serpent and orient express, delta green impossible landscapes and a lot of the pathfinder ones.
@dmeep Thank you for the comment. Yup, knew that Paizo did the publishing. I did not have later editions, so did not know about the AP's in the Dungeon Magazines
another great vid you two!! thanks very much. Luckily my players listen well and agree to being disciplined and self controlled. IF NOT!!! i will drag them to my karate club and let my students use them as a punching bag!! .... lol just kidding .....sort of.... not really ... ok yes :) keep 'em rollin'
@swordsnstones Thank you very much. I'd use mine as shield bash dummies, but, I might get in trouble. Instead, I feed them to my pet Bears
Thank you so much for making a houserule video - looking forward to the next one 🙏🏿

It is always funny to find out that D&D players would be totally lost in systems like DSA / The Dark Eye which do things very, very much more detailed and complicated.
For those not in the know, this is how melee in DSA works: The attacker does his attack roll, and can fail crit, fail, succeed or crit succeed. The attacked rolls his defense roll (either a parry roll or an evasion roll; parry is made more complicated by the weapons involved, embodied by applying the weapon comparison factor, i.e. you cannot easily parry an axe attack with a butter knife), and if the attack still succeeds, damage is rolled, which is then reduced by armor. Crits have special effects like replacing all damage dice with D20s, etc.
Not familiar with that system, thank you for enplaning it below. I was not lost once I figured it out, but others were
personally i prefer homebrew, and i use modules as drop in encounters...
Thank. Yeah, as I mentioned, in one of my big campaigns, I tossed in a module from a Dragon Mag, only because I loved the module, loved the setting, and I could fit it into my world and game. It was a fun adventure.
🥳🫂👍🏿 Sorry the game fell thru - I’ve never run a premade campaign - almost did with Rime of the Frist Maiden but then OGL happened blah blah blah - I do have almost all of the Dungeon Magazines and would read them back in the day - they were such a great source of inspiration - plus they had advice and just cool ideas to share
Thank you, yeah, sucked. But one of our other players is going to run a PF2E 1 or 2 shot and may run an AP if we like him DMing. To me, I am all in for him good or bad, cause they can get better, and I get to play. I totally get the OGL thing and that really put me off of WotC. I was meh, not I am Npe. I have all the Dungeons in PDF, and most in print, it is the latter stuff I did not have in print. They did have some cool adventures, and gave ideas.
@@wizardsofthetower3802 the last year or two they made adventures that were a whole linked series 1 to 20 campaign - worms that walk played a big part - very cool
Which edition are we playing? With 5e, "optimal play" entails largely ignoring healing spells, avoiding melee combat, and probabaly not playing martial classes. That's not to say that you can't or shouldn't play martials or melee warriors, but they simply can't keep up with ranged warriors nor (especially) spellcasters. Healing spells don't scale with damage output, and are a waste outside of emergency situations. The revised 2024 5e is giving many needed buffs to martials and healing spells. Martials still won't match spellcasters, and healing won't be as good as proactive damage mitigation, but at least they won't feel so bad to use. There's a new Barbarian that looks like a blast to play, and the lowly Monk is now good. The martial-caster divide has thankfully been narrowed.
@elementzero3379 Thank you for the reply. We are not fans of 4e or 5E. I have been a player sing 1979 and have played every edition accept 4 (Just did not like what was offered). I have played 5, and it just did not fit my likes of gaming. Never once as a Rogue, did I get to be a rogue. In fact, even the wizard felt more like a fighter. And funny, the guy playing the fighter who was a seasoned player was losing fighters left and right. If you play any Fantasy RPG outside of 4E and 5E (Pathfinder, Shadowdark, OSR, etc), you need a balanced party
@@wizardsofthetower3802 The experience you describe sounds like 4e. Classes feeling "samey" was a frequent complaint. It was fun, but definitely different from all other editions. Pathfinder doesn't feel much different from WotC D&D to me, but Shadowdark and OSR games certainly require an entirely different approach. I enjoy both 5e's Fantasy Super Heroes and OSR-style grounded fantasy. I'm still trying to decide on my favorite OSR game. Early D&D (and its clones) doesn't do it for me because (humorously) the Rogue feels useless, among other gripes. 😄 Shadowdark has been okay so far, but I've not yet played or run enough games to have a fully formed opinion. Forbidden Lands has a good feel, but I'm not a fan of fiddly dice. The search goes ever on and on, which means ever more gaming.
@@elementzero3379 Nope, it was 5E and it just felt SO Off from every other edition of D&D and PF I played. My group saw 4E and we all said WOW Tabletop... NOPE! I still have my PHB for 4E, just for... what ever... Look at and compare, I guess PF1 feels way different that 5E, We are gearing up to play PF2E, but I can see HUGE differences between 5E and PF2E from the get go. I started with the original J. Eric Holms, and within a week, I was into the AD&D (79) I still have a fondness for those games as well as 2E and 3/3.5. PF1 is as close to 3.5 as you can get, the new OSR games really style after 1.2E with a bit of 5E tossed in from what I have seen. YUP, the search is always on for fun games to play. Our group was playing Pirate Borg. no need for balance in those games, just have fun
@@wizardsofthetower3802 Yeah, I know 3e and PF1 really well. I had lots of fun with them, but don't miss them. I haven't played any PF2e. Reading it, I like some of the new gameplay features. Many have told me that it incorporates a lot of good features from 4e, too, but I've not dug into it enough to have seen that.
The one class that is not needed is the rogue. DM’s can do without traps and locked doors
@solowolf741 Thank you for the reply. Sure, you can remove those things. But that would be like saying a healer is not needed, give them potions of healing. It really depends on the adventure
@@wizardsofthetower3802 I think that is the way they want it wizard. My whole group bickers about who will play the cleric. They are glad that potions are now a bonus action. I don’t mind making healing potions available to them
Traps, sure. Locked doors? Not as much, unless you are not anywhere close to society. Normal people would at least have a door bolt, yes, even peasants historically. In fact it is more likely to find a locked/bolted door than one with a key hole and especially a rotating knob. Furniture behind the door to keep it shut is a classic and timeless method of barricading a door. A peasant having traps? Far less likely, unless you are opening their pantry, then stuff might fall on you because they shove stuff in there and know where their hands should be to catch things (like my sibling putting away tupperware). Rogues are also really good at sneaking, stealing, and backstabbing, which if you need to steal anything in an adventure, there should likely be some sort of lock or puzzle (does not need to be both) unless you are outright mugging people or you are relying HEAVILY on stealth. If you are storming a place to gnab something, that means you are just breaking locked doors anyway.
@@angelojohnson9441 Thank you for the comment. Indeed!
You want Cyberpunk Red
Thanks
Cyberpunk Red would be the best starting point for this
Not familiar with CP, accept the PC game
@wizardsofthetower3802 cyberpunk red is all the things you're looking for. It has vehicle combat it's fast paced and deadly and has vehicle gangs all built in. The only thing is you'll need to homebrew locations because the core style revolves around Night City but that wouldn't be difficult
