    nice video! @18:00 Any tips how you should configure the NFS server in production? would you place it on all nodes and how would clients then connect? it's now placed on your single master and if that's down then your NFS link is also down..

    • @sassdrew8141

      Hello! That I'm not entirely sure since I've only setup up single point of NFS access :D Technically you could point it on all the nodes, but I'm not sure how load balancing NFS connections work specifically, I may have to play around with that! Another option is to run CephFS to connect as well!

    first comment. best comment. How can I get Deepseek to fold my laundry? How many GPUs for this?

    • @pmichaeljordan
      @pmichaeljordan 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      deepseek-r1:14b Today at 14:20 Thought for a few seconds AI has the potential to assist in laundry folding through advancements in computer vision and robotics. However, as of now, practical implementations often rely on predefined algorithms rather than complex AI models. The number of GPUs required depends on the specific application: Training Phase : For developing a sophisticated AI model using deep learning techniques like CNNs or Transformers, several high-end GPUs (e.g., multiple NVIDIA Tesla V100s) might be necessary to handle the computational demands. Inference Phase : Once trained, fewer GPUs are needed for each operational instance, potentially just one or none if specialized hardware like TPUs is used. In conclusion, while AI can theoretically enhance laundry folding through tasks like object recognition and robotic manipulation, current applications may not require extensive GPU resources beyond the training phase.

    • @sassdrew8141
      @sassdrew8141 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh yeah so technically depending on how you let diskover access the files, you'll just need to make sure that the files are accessible for whichever user you're running it as. Technically since I was running as root, I need to run the scan as the root user and not the abc user :)

    I’ve been following along and when you are talking about the stages in your .gitlab-ci.yml file, you should say the reason you want multiple stages is because if you only have one stage, everything will run simultaneously as the default “test” stage and you don’t want that to happen. We need the build piece to have something to release in a later stage.

    • @sassdrew8141

      Hello! I've only ever used the server version of Oracle Linux and never had any issues with "sleep mode" as technically the server version is just always assumed as on. If you did the GUI installation to run like Oracle Linux Desktop, I would recommend going into the settings and Power Saving options is where you can probably find options for sleep mode :) Best of luck!

    FYI: When you click in a Windows command line box and you see a big white square cursor. You have effectively paused the output of that window. You should hit escape (once) or maybe enter a couple of times to get it out of that paused mode. I use Linux for everything unless I am forced to use Windows at work, so I am not an expert on Windows. Its just something I have noticed with the little I use it. I know it’s annoying to me.

    Excellent videos :). Just curious if you have opinion (done internal lab) on hybrid cloud implementation where stateless components run on kubernetes and the rest of backend components run externally on VM. Would appreciate if you can share your though on this.

    • @sassdrew8141
      @sassdrew8141 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hello! Yeah I'm planning to actually move some of my stuff to Kubernetes this year actually :) I think though, at the end of the day, it's what you're most comfortable in managing and maintaining. VMs are pretty easy and simple that you create and edit services without too much of a thought. Kubernetes gives you a lot more flexibility with high availability ( assuming you have redundancy in your homelab, multiple servers, UPS, etc ) which makes it nice to setup and not have to worry if something fails, but it also has a huge learning curve as well as more maintenance than just running vms. I think personally though the hybrid model makes sense, if you're well verse in kubernetes and has the hardware to actually support it in your homelab ( which I am pretty close :D ) But I would say probably for your average homelab'er sticking to VM's is significantly easier especially since most things will probably be running on one physical server so you wouldn't really get any benefit of kubernetes in the long run. :) Hope that helps answer your question :)

    Thanks for showing Plane. I didn't heard from this Tool until your video popped up in my recommendations. I hate Jira because its clunky, slow, expensive and dosen't offer the option to self host it any more. But most Companies are using Jira as they have it heavily integrated it in their processes into it and it is de facto standard for projektmanagement in the Enterprise segment. I saw some few Company's are using Redmine for managing their software projects, but this seems a good and modern alternative and I will definitely take a look at it.

    • @sassdrew8141
      @sassdrew8141 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think it'll depend on the use case for sure. Jira is nice as it's all in the cloud and you don't have to manage anything ( maintenance, server issues, etc ) But it can definitely cost a lot if you're only just using it for basic functionality. Plane is great because you can host it yourself ( keeping your data in your network ) especially if you have people who post sensitive information in tickets that shouldn't be known. But if you're looking for more advanced features with Plane, that will cost more which they don't have pricing on their site so I'm not entirely sure what the price comparison would be but if you're just looking for your basic project management without advanced features, Plane is great to try out to get your feet wet without needing to pay for it just for your homelab :)

It's also possible depending on which version of AWX you're running that it could be located in a different place in the settings so you may need to poke around, but yeah the interface could be different for sure since it's not as intuitive finding some of the settings :D

    mhh i looks like im to stupid i dont get it work, i wanna use it with IP from DHCP because normally i just set then in my Router the Option to keep the IP for the Machine, i plugin in both Lan-Ports (2,5Gig) in but one of them has no connection at all (both at the same switch) im running on the MS01 a Proxmox installation, Proxmox will use the other working Lan one fine .. my Virtual Machines are only also the GUI of Proxmox is reachable.. What i dont understand where you got the FQND-Name from? You just pick one that you like and the Machine should then conacted the Router /DHCP under this name?

      Hello! Yes I just have this running on a linux virtual machine! It's running oracle linux 8 but you should be able to use whichever linux flavor you like as this is just a docker image so you just need to install docker on the machine and pull down their image :)

    How to do all this, but without the tls/https part with certs? Just http access on local network? What about adding users and setting them up to not have root access?

    • @Psoewish
      @Psoewish 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      For just http access, you just install the server (I personally recommend the docker version), make sure your volume binds and ports are in order, and then go to the ip:port. For users there's no special setup, as you log in with the user from the actual machine, so any users would be created in whatever way you do it in depending on your OS. If the user doesn't have root on the server, they won't have root in vscode either.

    • @sassdrew8141
      @sassdrew8141 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yup pretty much what Psoewish said here :) It's quite simpler setup without having to worry about https :D

  • @cease70
    @cease70 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Obviously I'm assuming it works properly, but it would have been nice if you demoed uploading a file via something like WinSCP/FileZilla over port 2022 as well since that would probably be more common for a person to use vs. the command line. Either way, great job!

    • @sassdrew8141
      @sassdrew8141 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Haha fair point, I don't use windows as much so my go to is just the CLI but if I do another SFTP video, I'll get like FileZilla to show as an example! Much appreciated!

    Hi, can you tell me how to add another subnet to the scan?

    • @sassdrew8141
      @sassdrew8141 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's been a while since I last had this setup, but I believe for it to scan other subnets, you would need to add a NIC on that machine with the subnet that you want scanned so that it can access that subnet and should scan automatically if I remember correctly! :)

    HA use too much resouce. Is it possible to configure HA only for some components in gitlab? Thanhs

    • @sassdrew8141
      @sassdrew8141 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hello! Yes it does use a lot of resources which makes sense because they rate it for 3,000 users :D If you would like to only HA specific resources like the database or something else, I believe it is probably possible! But I have not personally tried it myself so you'll have to do some trial and error but I think you would be able to do it as long as you have the gitlab.rb correct configured to point to the right things! :)

    thanks a lot !! can you try to explain what the gitlab-rake gitlab:db:configure does? i see it also on the 2k ref but there i dont have pgbouncer so i didnt get it

    • @sassdrew8141
      @sassdrew8141 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh yeah! The gitlab-rake gitlab:db:configure command essentially setups the database based on the connection information in the gitlab.rb file. This is usually needed when using an "external" database because it needs to configure the database tables, columns, etc for gitlab to be used!
