this is the first time in my 55 years i heared or seen something of these surinaamse indianen i didn´´t even knew they existed there they never talked about them or n o t h i n g and they talk about everyting of suriname all day just not talking about die indianen ever is very weird and it ain´t right i can tell you that and shame!! shame on you surinamers!! who do you think you are hehh
Suriname has been fascinating me since I started doing research in early 2003. Such a unique combination of peoples converging: Native Amazonians, Africans, Javanese, Hindustanis and Europeans all converging to make Paramaribo and Suriname so incredibly unique. I still haven’t had the chance to go - on my bucket list 😊
Also Chinese and Jews and many people are a mix of all that. Suriname is a place that shows many cultures can live next to eachother in peace. But let us not forget Suriname has huge economic problems now post colonialism and their is a transgenerational trauma due to slavery.

The vilagers need to collect rainwater to drink......
Imagine this guy pretending to be rich and then some golddigger girl gets married with him and once they go back to his home country he says "we are both golddiggers my girl"
The destruction by posioning the forrest with Mercury is incredible. You can't blame the boy, but this is happening in so many places in the Amazon.
So a great film Thanks for producing it. It is truly sad the man has made the worthless metal element gold so valued that people around the world destroy, pollute, kill the wildlife, themselves and the ecosystem all why trying to extract gold from the soil and rocks. We vision they could start an Eco lodge and attract Eco tourist or a rare animal breeding facility. Even a Parrot breeding farm could bring in as much money as extracting toxic gold.
I love surinam
I can see indian genes here, it cleary visible.
Aku wong Jawa, Indonesia. Hai sedulur, apa kabar wong Jawa ning Suriname? Moga-moga tambah sukses. Moga-moga negarane tambah maju.
Leon Pierre looks Javanese Surinamese
When you speak dutch you say suriname and when you speak out in english you say surinam
Such a lovely County Suriname . it's incredible, if you to speak hindi you can come to this lovely land with many hindi speakers.
Suriname girl is so beautiful men.
Love it! Arubaanse geschiedenis begint ook zo .
This is my country Suriname 🇸🇷❤️💪
excellent documentary. it conveys in very simple terms what the challenges, opportunities and stakes are in suriname. It's all about a fucked up incentive structure that they and all of us in all countries have. It's easy to criticize the kid mining for gold with mercury but like he says, if I don't do this, I starve. So what then?
its evil to bring this poisen to the water. There is a possibility to live by nature without any gold or money so chose the clever way young boy!
They speak the language I understand. I speak Dutch and their language is called Surinamse Nederlands.
Their language is a english based creole language. Its not has some slight dutch in it.
@@kaarthuisplus You are absolutely incorrect!
@@GuzelKyrim-Ukraine lmao
I lived in Suriname and I definitely would love to retire in 🇸🇷!❤️❤️❤️

Yes, i am from Brazil, we are also a mix of indigenous, europeans and africans, we are neighbours and brothers.

@6:00 preach sis. Ain't no need.
Wow as an American this country is fascinating. I wouldn't mind visiting this place.
Good, Goed, Bueno, Bom. Ik spreek span. I speak spanish. I share a history. In english or nederland. I decided: in nederland language. The voice of narrator like a voice in another video 2005 in Georgetown flooded. The indian Nicarao Een leergerierige man die geschiedenis maakte.
not real surinams.
Amerindians deserve better housing, living, finance, and security
Mercury is destroying my beautiful country Surinam......Stop with it ...money is not everything. ..😠
For the people that are confused In suriname our National language is dutch because we were a dutch colony until 1975,but in this video only pierre was speaking dutch.
I want to go south America

I'm Ghanaian living in Belgium. At this point i'm hoping to meet Suriname friends who will take me to their homeland. God bless❤
You would be very welcome!
I live in belgië Too I’m from Suriname
They are so blessed and I care about with my hold spirit heart and soul.
The use of mercury and cyanide is destroying our interior. There has to be another way, but the parties involved do not look for it.
I m frome nuw koffie kamp
They look so much like Venezuelans, the features are so recognisable... I am kind of sad Venezuelans don't have so much interaction with the rest of the Guyanas, it is really important to say this because without the language barrier we definitely are very similar. Even the pronunciation is exactly the same prosody you can find in central to east Venezuela, amazing stuff.
Even the high school uniform is similar...
They definitely will benefit by importing Venezuelan horses, they can change the way of living in the country side. Hardy and wet tolerant they can survive in that weather.
Their situation is similar of that of the Pemon in Venezuela...
There should be an Interstate that stretches from Belem to Caracas. In America the Interstate system created work when it was built and it paid for itself in commerce and development many many man times over. I wish there were visionaries in South America who brought the countries together.
Venezuelan have suffered of racism and targeted in surname and the other non Spanish speaking countries. As refugees or migrates
So many Rich countries in the world who do nothing for the poor. I can bet a lot of countries have embassys there & sit & watch the ppl suffer. The wealth in this world should be under social control & support the ppl first.
nice thank you so much
I wonder what they were cooking...
This documentary touched me greatly. I give general classes for elementary and secondary school. I wish someday I went to one these places and spent a season, giving crash courses on the general disciplines. These people only wish knowledge and an official statement that allows them to earn their keep and help their families. Yan's dream of becoming a ship captain is so beautiful, and so is the wish and resolve of the two sisters.
De echte bewoners van suriname. De indiamen
Outstanding presentation
I've lived there for a long time, and at first thought the same as a lot of you: WHY destroy nature, just for a piece of gold? But later on, after traveling and living with the indigenous, I came to realize that poverty really pushes people in a position where it can be hard to resist the gold. I have many friends who tried and tried to get an education, but failed because nobody could sponsor them. And from that place, it's hard to get a job. Judging these people isn't the way, supporting them in finding another way is.
Nikki Bogman Good to see you understand. Now, to find a way to help these people...
Today is mr chantoki things will change in are country
Always funny how these first world girls say “traveling and living with the ingenious” it actually means they have been fucked by the locals. And did she really think they destroy the nature for fun? Or that nobody would know that they are poor? 🤦♂️
@nikki bogman aka colonization.
How much is it to sponsor someone through school there?
