Nice! I bet they re good to eat too - in Greece our golden groupers get very rarely to more than 4kgs, a 5kg is a trophy, 6kg is a unicorn kind of thing

Thank you! I currently use 8mm top and 5mm bottom, although below 17c water temperature I will switch to 8mm bottom as well (it was 17.5c couple days ago in this vid) - hope that helps!

@@synagridas13 by any chacne do you also use a pisette to lose less heat and wear shorts/bermuda on top of the pants to prevent water infiltrations ?

​@@pakster9879 Yes, my wetsuit has the neoprene peeing thingy where the pee goes directly out in the sea - no extra shorts needed, just make sure to get a well made-to-measure wetsuit to apply perfectly so that no new water comes in

The dozen or so fish a year i take with torch (i only use it if i've seen the fish before outside the hole) is what the scuba/night illegal spearfisherman gets in a couple hours. If you are aware of the goings on in Greece (and how many of those there are), you would generously put the damage done by free diving, day "amateur" spearo to <1% of the damage done to groupers by illegal (scuba) ones. Not that I am free of blame, it's a long discussion, but I believe an ethical spearo's torch impact is minimal, and would suggest a more appropriate direction of your anger would be towars the 99% of the problem rather than the 1%. If you get the impression that people like me carpet bomb the sea everyday, you are completely misled (perhaps cause you see videos compiled with catches of many different days ), as let me assure you that the vast majority of daily excursions it's 0 or 1 fish caught the whole day

Hi there friend - there are plenty of good videos on youtube that can explain that better than me, try "freediving beginner" search. I highly recommend doing a freediving school too, if possible. Always exercise caution as it is a super dangerous hobby and don't ever dive without a buddy 👍

Your comment shows that you have no idea of what those fish are, how big they can grow and what are the acceptable & legal sizes in Greece and in the Mediterranean. You need to do better research next time you post about something (especially negatively) or you appear clueless

Μολις τωρα ειδα το σχολιο - συμφωνω απολυτα, και οντως οι αστοχιες η σχισιματα κανουμε οτι μπορουμε για να τα ελαχιστοποιησουμε αλλα ειναι μερος του παιχνιδιου, και συμβαινουν σε ολους λιγο η πολυ ακομα και σε οσους ανεβαζουν μονο τις επιτυχημενες βολες! Ευχαριστω για το σχολιο και καλες βουτιες παντα!

Greece is indeed extremely overfished, however the culprit is not the culture, but illegal & also out of control commercial fishing, rather than spearfishing, which is the most selective & ecological way of fishing. It's a long discussion, but creation of super strict no-fishing marine park zones per island/district, accompanied by serious upgrading of rules & fines (not 1k, but 20k euros if you get caught fishing illegally, like in Spain) would be a great solution, on top adding rich scuba diving only sites. Unfortunately no funding/ political will or brains to do it. Hopefully one day
