Barbara, we just had our final show of "Fun Home" produced and staged in Hawaii. I was the drummer and percussionist in the orchestra pit. I am so pleased that you really were so perceptive to the story, music, and style of writing. Watching you reacting in real time- I had tears in my eyes knowing that you really "got it." Playing the show was a real intense experience for me as the story and music buried itself in my brain like an "ear-worm" - like a song you can't stop singing. I think this show should be shown in every school across America. The show on Broadway won 5 Tony awards including best musical in 2015. So glad you liked it. I love your style of reviews. I had the experience of watching an excited audience member (you) react - in real time - while I played the music. Thanks, Keith A. Nealy.

Fun fact about the audience's reaction to the Witch's "Who are you going to tell?" line. This production came out roughly 2 years after the movie 'Ghostbusters', so Ray Parker, Jr.'s famous line from the music video, "Who you gonna call?" was still pretty fresh in everyone's minds. It's even possible that a few members of audience expected or wished the actors had said 'The Ghostbusters' for comedic effect.

In case you didn't pick up on it, Cinderella's Prince & the wolf are played by the same actor. The Old Man & the Narrator are also played by the same actor.

This cast is truly incredible, especially Dónal Finn (in comparison to reeve carney) his Orpheus was so expressive and emotional and truly took the audience with him through songs like if its true. My favourite moment from him had to be his reaction after he turned around. He is absolutely devastated and looks to be having some sort of panic attack as he convulses on the floor over the hole where Euridice was. The rest of the cast was also amazing and Melanie La Barrie’s Hermes was SO charming and captivating!

3:19 The production I saw had an actual person playling Karnak, but he had a really cool and elaborate costume. The dude literally sat still in that box for so long I couldn't tell if there was an actual person in there until the bows when he took off his mask. Props to that guy, I can't imagine sitting practically motionless for that long.

I flew to London from California to see this concert, been a fan of the Japanese and Korean productions for years. It is confirmed from the Book writer Ivan Menchell that the concert version was maybe 70-80% of the libretto and dialogue had to be cut for time. The big line I noticed cut was Ryuk telling Light that when the time comes he will be the one to write Light’s name down, cause at the end of the concert they kept the line saying “I did tell you I would one day be the one to write your name down” but yeah the full show is much stronger writing wise (with the exception of Light’s sister, I agree her song and character can be left out without harming the story) You should 1000% review Reefer Madness the movie musical with Alan Cumming and Kristen Bell next. It’s got some great rock songs and it’s hilarious and very well directed and cast. I love your channel, I’m gonna start watching all your vids

what if alfred dies after sick to death of aliceness and the rest is in her head trying to come to acceptance and have alfred die at a more resolved time with more closure. It doesn't fully make sense for the original show that is one act, but i'm doing set for a production that split it into two acts (the first ends after sick to death of aliceness), so alfred dies at the end of act one and act two is alice trying to come to terms with it.

Meryl is an amazing actress, but miscast for this. Should have just had Bernadette do it.
