    Man my belt snapped and I noticed my crank pulley was worn so I switched it out and it was a pain in the butt, and now I’m getting this code after doing all that work to replace it, do you think the sensor is really bad or just needs time for the code to reset?

    Hey so I know you made this video a literal decade ago but do you remember what engine code this was, i cant for the life of me get the clip back on and there was a questionable mechanic working on it before me and im starting to think its just the wrong clip. Thanks a lot for the vid super helpful!!

    • @scottjhicks
      @scottjhicks ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no idea what the engine code was unfortunately. I will say that you can call or go by the dealer and give your VIN number to the parts department and they can give you the correct part number for the clip. I don't think there multiple engine codes for that year. I could be wrong and it's worth varifing. Some other things to look for is the breather hose seated all the way. If there were any pieces left in there, it could stop it from being completely seated. Make sure you lube up the o-ring so it will slide in easier. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I hope you get it sorted.

    Failed Smog in California today. The Smog ripoff guy told me the breather hose is defective in my 2001 A4 1.8t. Bought the O ring and new plastic hose from Napa. Now I need to find someone to install for me. I'm too old to work on this too old car. The video did not show you installing the new hose. Taking off the intake manifold is a no-no. Wish you filmed the install of the new part. Looks very hard to access where the old part came off.

    I’ve been searching TH-cam for a solution for my engine cranks over, but no start. I’ve replaced the ICM inside the distributor on my 97 Accord Non Vtec engine with no luck starting. I’ll be checking the crank and TDC sensor located near the CC and oil pump housing for obvious damage and continuity. Next step will probably be the distributor or ECM to replace 🤔 Keep you guys posted on my finding.

    Politely stating, Leave the Battery in the car/ Leave the oil cooler on the engine/ Move over but do not remove the power steering pump.no lift-simple proocess . leave the cooling air duct alone. Leave the cooling fan assembly in. Leave the Radiator in.Leave the a/c compressor on.Leave the 2 inspection covers on. Leave Injectors plugged in. I realize this is an older video.

    • @daintitus4649
      @daintitus4649 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hands down, an Audi/VW is easier to work on than BMW. Plus, depending on the year of BMW, VW group vehicles are relatively easier to get parts for and fairly cheap. If you want to spend a lot of money on parts, mostly genuine BMW (only ones available), on a 13 or 15+ year old German car, buy a BMW.

    You're not following the directions in the manual and you are not familiar with the car either..... There is very clear, precise timing instruction in the manual that if followed eliminates any doubt about the proper timing. Also, when the manual tells you to remove the lower & upper oil pan, remove them! You certainly don't know better than the people who designed that whole engine! Overall, was a helpful video! Thanks!

    Does the breather hose effect the idle of the car while I drive?? My A4 1.8 automatic rough idles in gears 1&2 approximately around 3rpm. My breather hose is completely broken off

    • @EuroTechSolutions
      @EuroTechSolutions 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It absolutely could cause an idle issue. The computer reads the amount of air entering the engine as it rushes by the mass air flow sensor. Any air allowed to enter other than through the intake system as designed will be considered unmetered air, which can throw the computer off as it tries to calculate the air/fuel mixture. The other issue you can run into is that you are allowing unfiltered air in the engine, which could cause different components to wear quicker than they should. Hope that helps.

      My M4 1.8 jetta just cut off while i was driving and wont start back up. The breather tube was broke. Would that cause my car to just stall out?

    • @EuroTechSolutions
      @EuroTechSolutions 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sure could. You are looking at the same issue as I described above really. Any time the fuel/air mixture is not correct and the engine is not able to adjust it, due to unmetered air entering the system, you could have idle issue or stalling issues. Hope that helps.
