This is a 4 track demo of a song that we wrote for our band The Campaign. I enlisted Vinnie Colaiuta to play drums on this on a small Slingerland kit I owned and recorded with a couple of sm 57's.

Thanks for posting. Love Bennys music and A team tracking musicians on the session 😊
Thanks Allen! I thought all Jeff Porcaro fans would appreciate it.
Lisa is great but C R Y S T A L L E W I S. 😊
They were both fabulous but I Wrote this one :)
@@martywalsh5348 It's a gorgeous song, Mr. Walsh. I have such a love of the music from "Roundhouse" to this very day.
Great ! Was it 88, 89, 90, 91 ??
I believe 89
@@martywalsh5348 Wow thank you. What a great opportunity you had to meet and play with him, I guess he was a kind man ! Michel
You should get the latest Robyn Flans book called Moments In Time. A collection of people's memories of Jeff. I'm on page 161 :) It says so much about who he was.
@@martywalsh5348 Well thank you so much I will !
Painful ! Truly painful !
This is a gem! I am not sure what the story is here, but this unexpectedly poignant arrangement of an iconic song really landed for me. Thanks for posting.
Agreed such a great version we were able to do.
So some studio musicians have likely played solos that WOULD be considered one of the all-time great solos, but they just got ignored for whatever reason. Insane to think.
F-ing brilliant job on this song by these talented , well trained and very lucky young people. I enjoyed it.
Is that Omar on keys!?!?! He is another monster!!!!
He did that during the "Push Back the Walls" sessions with Scott Page, etc. It's here at TH-cam. It was Scotty, Lenny Castro, several others, and right before they kicked it off, he dropped a handful of Regals across the snare in front of him; the whole room cracked up! 😂
Marty you’re the best

What's name of the song?
love the dance choreography.
@Marty is that a Tyler guitar?
its a valley arts tyler hybrid, both Mike at VA and James worked on it.
Great story!
back in the 70 recording studios used metronome.but the click went out from the headphones i got in to the microphones, the the studios begun to used the" blinking light metronome"
Wow 👊
Jeff Porcaro is a big inspiration to me. Thank you for recording these videos.
Are those lead sheets the musicians are reading? Or written notation? How would they get those prior to the session?
From benny hester passion possesion position, great drums
The songs from "Roundhouse" are really some of the most amazing ever written for television. Just wonderful. Soulful. Authentic. Magical. It's a shame we never got full length recorded versions. I still have my old VHS tapes of the show and cherish them deeply.
He is so tight !!
Shakin was HUGE back in 85 as I was locked up in San Quentin as a 23 yr. old knucklehead. Couldn't WAIT until September 25, of 88 to parole and get my shaft wet with a honey that was SHAKIN'.
THAT ENERGY, AWESOME WORK GUYS
OMG
The guy in the guitar is Mike Barnes from Karate Kid 3
Gosh, I was hooked on Jeff's playing in 1978 or so with "Hold The Line" and "99." I was a mere 12 y/o back then and I knew instantly that Jeff was not your avg drummer. My drum teacher for over 8 years here in the Allentown, PA area studied for 7 years with Joe Porcaro privately. My teacher also has numerous pictures of him, Joe and Jeff together. Videos of them all and more. My teacher prefers to keep them off of the net but has shared the videos and letters, emails with the remaining Porcaro family.
What a honor 🥹
🥁😎🥁..
Thank you Jay Graydon for producing one of the greatest guitar solos.
natalie nucci is my teacher in dance, theater ,and musical theater . and shes so amazing and caring ,and its crazy to think about how she was on tv and in shows and movies. but to me shes like a aunt
Marty Walsh- Hi, Being a fan of the late Andy Johns, have you ever had a listen to TANGIER, whose lead guitarist/ writer A JOHNS gave "co- Credit" for production on Tangier's First LP, "Four Winds" Doug, like you, has great feel and fills . Here is ONE SONG: th-cam.com/video/djTB6BkbVtE/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=TheReptilian
What!! Younsters! playing a song with a melody? I thought that was made illegal: Whom they soundlike- seriously- THe Newsboys/DC/Talk The very finest Christian bands that can rock.
Has that Whitesnake intro of their smash hit- the very beginning of your tape
hahahahhahahhaahhahahha I get it!! The utter sadness, looks like a SOVIET leftover school building- I AM DEPRESSED!
I was overwhelmed by the guitar work on this song, and as a guitarist myself, I can appreciate it even more! The licks you throw aren pure magic...
Thanks for uploading this. TH-cam is the closest thing we have to a Time Machine.
yes it is.
Like the Mushanga beat !
Hilarious story.
Another hero of mine, Mr Jeff.
Amazing footage, Jeff was long gone before I was born but he’s a huge inspiration for me on the kit and Watching videos like this makes me so happy, thank you for uploading this. RIP legend
Chops are impressive, but feel will get you the gig (along with the ability to get along with folks! :)

th-cam.com/video/BBjW__APyTo/w-d-xo.html that's the song
something like this you can hear in TOTO how many times song after guitar solo
This is priceless 🙏🥁
So glad we have so many tracks to listen to with Jeff playing. Thanks Marty.
Marty you should start a series where you teach how to play roundhouse songs. I'd love to learn this
Marty, I just found your channel and I appriciate your videos! Especially the tracking rec sessions. I know many yeard have passed and things arent the same but where would one go to pursue a career in producing? Im already experienced and have my own studio with 2" tape and I studied music and compose/perform. Im just located in south texas and there is NOTHING here.
The chorus girl with glasses is my spirit animal...

Hello Mr. Walsh! Your guitar tone is huge and defined! Excellent!!! Could you describe (if possible) your gear on this session? Thanks!!!
