How have I missed this for so long? This is beautiful!
Thank you! I remade the game in October and the more complete soundtrack is also available on my channel in the Music/Soundtracks Playlist.
beautiful game and OST!!!!
hi, i just came to your channel after watching biggaming64 play this. i wanted to say i was blown away by the atmosphere, cutscenes, and music for this game. it creates such a sense of unease and dread through the whole game and the dreams were terrific and creepy. I'm definitely going to get this game myself to explore around and see if i can get new info from the villagers with a new approach. this story is something i want to have a deep dive into and discover as much as i can about it.
Thanks for checking it out! I saw their video and really glad they enjoyed it. They definitely didn't show off absolutely everything.
but I opened the map and my scene was darker. is there any way to make it lighter in the program?
The post process volume is the typical way to adjust the overall brightness of the scene. Open the Outliner and fine the PostProcess Volume inside the Environment folder. Look for Lens>Exposure>Exposure Compensation and set it to a higher value. You can also adjust the values of the Directional Light and Skylight in that same folder to make the scene brighter.
@@katanalevygames Thank you so muchhhh
No problem at all, have fun! :)
it was great i bought it, I liked it
hi dear. I wanna buy this. is that a ready environment?
Thanks for your interest! The example map with all the lighting and post-processing and walkable collision is included in the pack as shown in the video. It really depends what your game might need. It's not a complete sprawling battlefield, but there is enough example setup there in some connected trenches, some bunkers long them and some no-man's land all in a reasonable area that you see how it all works and expand/change it depending on your game design.
This environment seems be deleted from unrel Fab...
It's not deleted, but somebody decided to report it as mature content right before black friday and epic took it down temporarily. So I'm waiting in the appeal process to get it back up.
Sorry, TH-cam accidentally deleted your last reply. Hopefully the pack will be back up soon but sorry it will miss out on the black Friday sale price. There will be more sales in the future.
Hey buddy i have an idea for creating audio game would you have some suggestion can you reply
Did you have some opinion
Hey, always cool to hear someone is experimenting with the audio in their games. I can try and help with any questions you have but I'm not a huge expert with audio in Unreal.
@@katanalevygames thanks buddy
просто побачивши першу катсцену у одному відео-огляді на цю прекрасну гру, я знала, що я зобов'язана її пройти і це був абсолютно неймовірний досвід
Thank you so much for your kind words and for playing!
Really cool environment, I reached out a while ago for a project that I'm finally going to be able to do and I was just wondering, is this the same as the old trench map with all the trenches and some of no mans land but now with bunkers? or is this one just the bunkers to add on to the original trench model? Basically what's the difference between the two. Thank you for being so talented lol.
Hey, thanks for checking it out again. Yes this is still the same trench bunker pack we spoke about before. It has some flat ground and craters, dead trees for no man's land. It has trench walls and floors and the interiors of the bunkers. Everything you see in the video is included in this pack. The other pack is more dedicated variations on just the trench parts. Hope that clears it up for you.
Is Mary Whitehouse the final boss? Regardless, I hope it goes well and I'll certainly keep an eye on it.
Haha, she should be! XD
i love the usage of different colors here, its very gruesome and odd yet not overly red, though i think it could actually use a bit more gore to make it seem more organic as it sometimes feels a little less organic and more alienish if that makes sense, like more of a alien flesh hell than a human one
Thanks! The vibrant colours are mostly due to the light colours in the example scene to give an eye catching look compared to other hell scenes on the marketplace. If you check the product page you can see in the second half of the screenshots how it looks under standard lighting conditions and most things are pinky/red with subdermal colour layers of speckled blue red and yellow to give a very subtle natural flesh colour variation.
Неймовірно гарна музика! Вона дуже сильно розбавила мій плейлист, вже давно не чув настільки шикарної музики💓
Thank you so much!
I am extremely sad that so few people know about this project. The game looks great, with its own style
Yesss! I've been obsessed with the music that plays in the map view since I played it. Excellent game, very excited to see some of the background that went into it.
After entering the church, I had to look this song up on here, it really comes together very nicely, you obviously know your music theory. Not sure why, but this song makes me feel.. determined? I'm not sure how else to describe it
This OST is just beautiful and your game was my little gem of this month (I'll show it to my friends for Halloween). Thank you and great job :D
Thanks so much!
Really loving the music, I haven't gotten to the game yet, but it's on my must-play list!❤
1:21 What's the name of the tune in the intro scene? I don't think it's part of the main soundtrack.
All the music was written for the game so I don't really have names for them other than "intro song". It uses samples from a Gaelic vocal library so there are part phrases from several different traditional songs mixed in. It won't be on the 2020 soundtrack video as I wrote several new pieces for the remake. There's going to be a soundtrack DLC soon for the game on Steam which will include all music from the 2020 and 2024 games, plus the sound design/music for the cinematics.

I have to being a solo dev! XD The trick is to just learn what you need to get things done in each one.
I just bought and played the game last night and honestly loved it. I'm so hooked on the vibe and the music that I just keep coming back to rewatch the trailer. Incredible work!
Thank you! The soundtrack for the 2020 version is still on my channel and is only missing two songs from the new version: th-cam.com/video/2taFKetoe8M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LrExfM6XoOGNBFYK . Might also be a soundtrack/artbook DLC coming to the game soon too!
I would absolutely love to get some translations done for the game! I have already programmed in what is needed for translations but since I'm a solo developer with zero budget I'll have to wait and see how sales are before I can afford the actual translating to be done.
@@katanalevygames Compreendi, espero que venda muito
Already bought it. Looking forward to giving it a try later tonight.
Thanks so much!
@@katanalevygames I didn't get around to trying it last night, however I've just finished a couple of runs, so to speak. I'll avoid saying much regarding the story for fear of spoilers - which although there isn't a lot of - it's best to experience the game blind. And that's what it is, a unique experience; one of darkness, foreboding and melancholy, all crammed into a short game. The stop-motion cutscenes were eerie, and in some ways reminiscent of David Firth's work. The sound and music work well, and while there isn't much in the way of dialogue, you still manage to create multiple threads between the characters. There's also a touch of dark humour. This isn't exactly a review, just a few thoughts immediately after playing it. There's plenty more I could say, and I haven't even touched on the mini-game aspect (which given the context is a pretty messed-up term). The game feels like a concept that could be expanded on and fleshed out. Obviously that takes time, a dev team, as well as money, so don't view this as a sleight against your work; you should be immensely proud of what you've created.
@@outlandishusername Thank you so much for playing and taking the time to share your initial thoughts here! I'm a big fan of David Firth's work so there's no doubt some of it influenced part of my style and I take that as a huge compliment. In a way this is the expanded version of the concept as it was originally created for a game jam back in 2020. I explored several different ideas for expanding it even further while making this version and they all pulled away from the central experience. I've no doubt there's ways to do it but after two versions, I think this will be as far as I'm taking this and I'll move onto something else for my next project. Thanks again!
Imagine a halloween update of this game 30 days from now.

Most bleackmetal game I ever saw
this looks incredible!
Thank you so much for taking the time to go through step by step for this video :) Unfortunately, looks like the Blendable Location options for the PPM have changed in 5.4 and the effect is unable to be reproduced :( 'Before tonemapping' is not an option anymore. The closest result is 'Scene Color Before Bloom' and this is still causing issues. The problem with being an early adopter of a new version :(
No worries! Unfortunately this was for a much earlier version of UE4 and I've not played around with post processing in 5.4 yet. Before tone mapping was extremely popular for a lot of different effects so I image someone out there will have figured out the alternative path if you look around or maybe ask on the Unreal forums. I did some quick tests and managed to get two tone split based on brightness by using Scene Color Before DOF. Forget the setup I have in the video. Set the material to SceneColor Before DOF. Use an IF node, put black colour in the A>B and white colour in the A<B and A=B. Put a scalar1 into the A slot set to 0.5 (you will have to play with this value between 0-1 based on your scene overall brightness) and for the B slot use SceneTexture set to PostProcIn0. Plug the output of the If node into the emmissive and you should see the scene split between stark black and white. You can then take another Scene Texture set to Diffuse Color and blend some of that black and white mask on top. Maybe chaneg the black to a dark blue and the white to a very pale yellow and you should get something similar.
@@katanalevygames Hi what do you mean by "blend some of that black and white mask on top." I tried to multiply the scene texture diffuse color with the output of the if node. But it does not work.
@@zeichenkunstlerin2644 In what way is it not working - error when compiling the material or your scene is all black etc? Try plugging in the output of the If node straight into the emissive and let me know what you see. It should look like a stark black and white world where the shadows are pure black and highlights are pure white. Adjust the scalar value in slotA to get the balance right between light and dark. There are a number of ways you can blend it in based on your own artistic choice. The most basic would be to multiply the flat diffuse colour with your black and white mask out of the If then have a lerp that takes the raw diffuse colour and that new multiply node. Now you can adjust the lerp blend to decide how black you want the shadow areas to be. If you want more complete control you can make two vector3 for shadow and highlight colours, lerp between them based on the output of the if node and then overlay blend that onto your flat diffuse colour. That way you can tint the shadows cool and the highlights warm if you like.
@@katanalevygames I get an error message saying: -At feature Level SM6 I already have SM6 activated. But deactivating it also does not help to resolve the error.
@@katanalevygames I got the error resolved now by adding component masks but there is still some noise after that.
Oh nice, coming for Halloween season, what a treat!

Yes, I remember their excellent video on the old game jam version of the game! The new version has the potential for translations as well, but I just need to see how well the game does if I can afford to pay for the translations, since I'm just a solo developer with 0 budget. :)

Am I hearing ost from Witcher 3 on skellige??????
Check all the other comments on it. It's not the same music but they are both variations on a traditional song called Fear a' Bhàta.
Amazing work.👌 I will buy this soon.🙏
Big "Shrouded Isle" vibes.
I didn't play much of it but I love their art style!
The verses in the song are also used in 'Fields of Ard Skellig' from The Witcher 3. I still can't remember what the original song is called.
It's a mix of samples from a Gaelic vocal library pack. They are both based on the song Fear a' Bhàta (The Boatman).

I'm a Darkwood fan and this game is a lot different from it, but all that grayness and the darkness, the woods, the villagers and the horrors that this witch hunter will dace, reminded me of that polish gem. Can't wait to play your game!
You're right, it's a completely different kind of game. This is more of a short visual novel/point and click. But I adore Darkwood, it's the holy grail of folk horror games and there's no doubt it has influenced my style. Thanks for your support!
