I'm just a guy. Not really what you would call a "guy's guy", but still a guy. I'm not a handyman, plumber, carpenter, landscaper, roofer, etc., but I play all these roles as a father of six living on a tight budget with my wife. I buy the parts and fix stuff myself to avoid calling in professionals. I've found that fixing stuff is really not as hard as it seems as long as you're not afraid of making mistakes.

Well the first thing I noticed is I would have unplugged it first, to avoid inadvertently shorting anything and perhaps blowing the control board... This isn't the same model I have though so I don't know if it comes apart the same way.

Thank you! Other videos skipped the hardest part...taking the cover off. It ended up needing the ice flap motor replaced. DIY was much cheaper than a service call.
Kenmore Elite, Estimate on replacing compressor $1,389. And repairing fridge. Guys complete yunk. How can we stand a class law suite against this product made by LG. Sears is backed up on these fixes.
Great video showing how to remove the front board with minimal damage to the tabs. My ice door would not open, because the arm somehow got behind the door actuator.
Same... no idea how that could happen except for the t-rex arm that barely catches the paddle. Cheapskates.

Thank you. Got the main board disconnected but the ice dispenser continues to run unless it is unplugged inside the freezer door. Would you know if there is another board in the upper portion of the door that can be bad????

Awesome! I appreciate the comments. Check back for more later. If you're dealing with a Kenmore, good luck finding parts as I have found that they have discontinued making a good portion of them. I had to get a GE part and "reverse engineer" it to fit my need. Still not perfect, but gets the job done.
What was wrong with your ice maker? I have the same refrigerator and mine will not dispense the ice.
Mine would not stop dispensing. The micro-switch triggered by the paddle was stuck in the "on" position. It ended up being some crusty residue from the salt (I have a water softener) that had built up around the plunger of the micro-switch. I cleaned it up and put some silicone grease around the plunger in an attempt to prevent this from getting into the switch in the future.

Ditto. Just what I needed as well. My problem is the dispenser-switch is stuck in the "on" mode, so I had to use the lockout function to get it to stop dispensing while I figure out how to take it apart without making a mess of it.
