50 Things YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW About Norway
I'm a Palawan
You claim that there are many things that "aren't common knowledge about Norway" .....but with your video you were able to create a few new "facts"..... Facts that no one ever has heard about before.....simply because they are just fantasy spin of yourself.... When it comes to Norway's history ....specially up against Sweden....the list of mistakes are to extensive to name. Norway's coastline is around the double of what you claim ....and is the SECOND LONGEST coastline in the world only after Canada. The most correct source of such information is to get the data directly from the Norwegian state mapping authority....which has measured the coastline to .....over 103 000 km..... Hence over two and a half times around the Equator. Your idea of the term "fjord" is inadequate.... In reality is there nothing that says that there must be mountains surrounding it or that it must cut into the land. A fjord is simply a body of water that people must cross in order to get from A to B. ....and NO ....the mountain that risk to fall into the fjord ....is not located in/at Geirangerfjorden ....but in Storfjorden ....which further in leads to Geirangerfjorden. ....and NO if the mountainside slides out into the fjord it will NOT create a "tsunami". You just display a complete ignorance of what the term means. The correct is that it will form a flood wave..... There is nothing special with Norway having a sector claim in Antarctica. There are a number of other countries having their own claims there also. ....and NO....Roald Amundsen did not get to Antarctica, for his South Pole expedition, with a Belgian ship. He got there with a Norwegian ship named FRAM. It is exhibited in Oslo ...for anyone to see. Since when was Finnmark "just a barren plateau"...????? When it comes to the Sami population ....your idea that they still are living a "semi-nomadic" life as reindeer herders ....is a misconception..... that time is long gone.... There is just a minority of them doing reindeer herding today. Most of them do ordinary work as any other Norwegian ....as bus driver...as doctor....as professor....as minister in the government of Norway ....or as...... When it comes to the painter Edward Munch ....he did NOT donate his work to the government....but he donated it to Oslo city municipality.... The Viking ship named Osebergskipet are not "reconstructed". It's the real deal ....the original one..... ....and NO....there does not exist moose in Norway ....or anywhere else in Europe for that matter.... Moose is solely the North American variant and a close relative of the European species called ELK (elk in English, elch in German, älg in Swedish, elg in Denish and Norwegian .... and also which is not the North American species that is named elk....). Genetically those two are distinct / clearly separated ...and has no common habitats. Just check out science on that area.... I'm certainly not impressed and I don't understand that someone can publish a video with so much misconception and mistakes. It is even worse than poorly researched.... There were to much crap to remember it all. Title of the video would be better to call it 50 misinformation about Norway.... made up by yourself....
Bro calm down 😂 this was my first video and half of the things you say are wrong aren’t entirely wrong. “He didn’t donate it to the government, he donated it to Oslo Municipality”. Sure! That has zero to do with the government. I appreciate the engagement, chief
@@nick_geo Dude....try to educate yourself a bit. You obvious don't know what you're talking about. Name one single thing which I've mentioned that is wrong....and good luck with that....l!!!! Each and everything I've stated can be proven correct. ....and the mes of a list of your "facts" are much longer than what I've listed. It's irrelevant what number of video you post. Facts need to be reality checked..... To your information is Oslo City Municipality independent from the Norwegian state government. Two completely different things. Oslo has 100 % ownership of the art donated ....and the state government has 0 % ...hence have no saying in those matters..... It's the taxpayers in Oslo who pays for the costs for what the city handles of art ....or whatever.... A minimum of insight and research is required before posting something called facts..... Best advise is simply to delete your "production".
Thanks for the advice, Captain!
China's been real quiet since this dropped!

Just FYI, not really being political. Just actual facts. Cattle is not really scarce in Cuba. They are all owned by the State tho... Even the cows owned by small independent farmers, intended for milking only. If for any reason this cow dies, even if due to natural causes... the paper work is ridiculous..! It is illegal for anyone to kill or slaughter Cattle in Cuba. Cuba has extremely rich agricultural lands and pastures, therefore no reason why they couldn't have a prosperous beef industry... The government chooses to export almost all beef for profit and yes they do somewhat provide a little beef for young children, not so much for the elderly... you would be hard pressed to recognize any of these "Cuts" of beef... Even 90% of the chicken is imported from the U.S. Same goes for the seafood. It's illegal for any Cuban to even posses shrimp or lobster, the penalty is years in jail. Again the government chooses to export most seafood to places like China for huge profits. Ironic that people living in the Caribbean on an island have never even tasted SHRIMP..? My cousin is 59 years old and the last time he ate shrimp? Was like 20 years ago when I visited Cuba, I bought some shrimp from the "Black Market" and made him Shrimp Creole. As an American I found the price to be quite inexpensive, but to a Cuban making between 14 or 16 dollars a month..? They have many other needs to frivolously spend a months salary for one shrimp meal. I found it very difficult, even with me having $$$ to buy or even find some basic things we take for granted. Like buying a light bulb, spices like garlic powder, cumin, paprika, onion powder... nowhere to be found at any price..! There are no, literally none, hardware stores. I could have stayed in a Luxury Hotel, but I decided to stay in my cousin's humble house instead. No AC, no hot water, not even screens on the windows..! So I went to one the government "Stores" to buy an electric fan, to try to make sleeping during the night bearable. Found a store that had 3 fans available, made a ridiculously long line, when eventually it was my turn? They were sold-out! The fan was like $30 or $35 dollars. Like a good American I went bonkers, to the point that a manager/employee called another store which had some in stock and another taxi ride and miles later, I was finally able to buy an electric fan. You might be like okay, so whats the big deal then? Just to buy an electric fan took me several taxi rides and about 8 or 9 hours..!
Like I said, I don’t mean to downplay how difficult life is there, and I’m aware of how tough it is to get things. I just didn’t want to make the video focus on that, since so many others do.
@@nick_geo You may not want to focus, but you make everything sound honky dory..!
I’m not making it “sound like” anything. I spent a week there and spoke to MANY people, including one of the other commenters. You’re now no longer focusing on the video, but on a narrative you have from your experience that’s no longer relevant, and hijacking the video with a whole book.
@@nick_geo I did focus on your 20 minute video! YOU spoke about Cespedes, Marti, Fidel, Che, the USSR, crap even the PLAT AMENDMENT..! And you only spent a week there. My experience is based on many trips to Cuba since 1997, not just one! You spoke with MANY people in just one week? Care to guess how many I've spoken to throughout the decades? You clearly become defensive and cannot seem to accept criticism or different points of view. Funny thing is I wasn't even trying to criticize..! Glad you enjoyed your week in Cuba. May God bless you on all of your journeys...
Nothing defensive until you accused me of making it sound “honky dory”. Your original comment was fine. Incorrect assumptions are not.
Great video. I am new to your content. It’s very informative!! I look forward to more. I’ll check the back catalog as well.
Nice video and fair
Nuuk, i had 3 fishing seasons there, fishing Turbot, we would leave Newfoundland Canada, around may or june & would take us 5 or 6 days of steaming, depended on the ice, Nuuk is where we would come to port to unload every 10 to 12 days, then around sept or early oct we would return to newfoundland, have to say the locals are very friendly, i use to look foward going there each year, The American Air force had an radar station base there in the 40s during the 2nd world war, i remember couple of times when we ported there would be U.S Navy ships docked there, & i would go over have a chat with the boys & they would always give me a couple of cartens of Winston cigs that was a treat lol
most accurate description ever!
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you for sharing.
The worlds longest and deepest undersea tunnel is in Norway.
The Sami people are mostly famous for hearding raindeer 😊
Great video. Keep up the good work
great video your descriptions were fair and very informative
fuck you yogurt, the bacteria that makes the "yogurt" only grows in Bulgaria, so this is bulgarian
I have yet to see a single person nod "no" and shake "yes". Spent about 365 days here, never confused.
I didn’t see it very often either. Maybe that’s an outdated fact?
Alexander Nevski is not the biggest Eastern Ortodox Church in the world!
I think he said one of the biggest..
@@MrDefkorn ok, sorry if it is as you say. I heard the bighest...
"Yoghurt" itself is a Turkish word and means "condensed". If you ask Bulgarians they'll claim Adam and Eve were Bulgarian
no one in BG calls it Yogurt... What do you think, does also the bacteria Lactobacillus bulgaricus is Turkish? :) hahahahah This bacteria that plays a crucial role in the production of the Bulgarian milk was identified in 1905 by the Bulgarian doctor Stamen Grigorov. Calm down, we have no claims about Adam and Eve, keep them to yourself, we don't need them!
We dont use the word yogurt in Bulgaria, we call it sour milk, so yes the word yogurt comes from other language and its used in western countires
Just a quick note about Plovdiv: "Plovdiv is one of the oldest cities in Europe. Archaeologists have discovered pottery and other objects of everyday life from as early as the Neolithic Age, showing that in the end of the 7th millennium B.C there already was an established settlement there. According to Ammianus Marcellinus, Plovdiv's post-Bronze Age history places it as a Thracian fortified settlement named Eumolpias. In 342 BC, Plovdiv was conquered by Philip II of Macedon, the father of Alexander the Great, who renamed it "Φιλιππόπολις", Philippopolis or "the city of Philip" in his own honour. Later, it was reconquered by the Thracians who called it Pulpudeva (from Philipopolis)."
Appreciate the insight!

Hi there, great video I'm Bulgarian and this is the first time I've seen this musical instrument. I'd say the gaida (a pipe made of sheep or goat skin) is a lot more popular and very traditional Bulgarian musical instrument
Good stuff, buddy !
Fast speaking does not make you more pervasive , new data/information requires time to digest
You’re recommending that I speak slower in future videos?
yes
Got it. I appreciate your feedback!
Intersting fact - there wasn't any fascism in Bulgaria ever. So it is strange how the anti-fascists are "fallen" in Burgas. Too much booze maybe? What do you think?
I imagine is has something to do with other anti-fascists that fought the Nazis. It doesn’t necessarily have to take place on the soil to honor it.
My point is, all tis "monuments" are built under the russian communists pressure with purely propaganda intentions. The implication is - we, (russian) cominists liberated Bulgaria from the fasists. And this propaganda is real. Half of the population don't know its own history, but know very good the history manufactured in Moscow. Actually, such type of propaganda is developed by the fascists itself.
Yeah. I mean, I heard that perspective when I was there; I’m certainly not denying any of what you’re saying 🤷♂️
Upernavimmiitut paasisinnaavit!
good video some mistakes you had on the explanations , like some people commented already like the cyrilic creation , yogurt bacteria is called Lactobacillus bulgaricus all around the world so there not realy a question where yogurt is from . bulgaria was never under byzantium ore roman ocupation we just losed a war in 800 years of wars and bulgaria was still idependant , you can add the creation of the first pc airbag space food automatic transmition also adding bulgaria had multiple country around the globe whit the same name and no we never mixed whit slavs since slavs never existed as before that all that people were calld bulg Arians which is how persians called those people white wariors basicaly and the first bulgarian where from actual bulgaria but they moved after roman empire conquested theire land all around asia and there plenty of cities and rivers still holding bulgarian names basicaly bulgarians just come back to theyre mother land to fre it from roman tirany when kubrat died asparuh father another historical figure thats bulgarian is atila as all writing from his times describe him as and there he comes whit his bulgarians also he is on the nomalia of bulgarian khans(kniaz the bulgarian name for king at the time)
Поздрави от България!
Абе какво всички се връзвате на тия тупани чужденците? Работя с чужденци и трябва да ти кажа че по-големи интриганти и подлеци не съм срещал.
Amazing video, you, my friend, earned a new sub.
Great research!
"Ok, I'm gonna try to pronounce this right.....Stursite!!!!" Dude, that is hilarious. Say it with me, "Shtur-tsi-te".
😂😂😂
That's not the only one tho... Every single one of his pronunciations are efed up
I think we understand the point being that, I didn’t do a great job looking up proper pronunciations in the Bulgarian language. This is something I’m trying to take more time for as I spend more time with on future videos. I appreciate the engagement!
Hi, to increase more views to do SEO optimize your videos.
Haha you really butcher these names! _Akershus festning_ can be roughly translated to Acre's House Fortress. An acre is ofc a measuring unit, moreover it's the amount of land one man can plough. It comes from the Norse word for a field, which is ákr. So, Akershus really means _The House of the Acres_ or _The House of the Fields,_ i.e. the castle that presides over the peasants living on those fields. Old English and Norse are really closesly related, so much so that it was mutually intelligible some 1000 years back. That's why a lot of Modern English contains so many Norse words, such as acre. Betcha didn't know that!
I did not! Appreciate the insight
I mean, there's a lot of European moose here, but the Canadian moose wins hands down in weight and size lol. Go Canada!
My cousin had a dispute about Black Metal with ... Varg Vikernes. Varg sent my cousin not-so veiled death threats for having a different opinion about the history of Black Metal.
Not only will peeps carry rifles in Svalbard, it's _mandatory_ to carry a rifle outside town. At least one in the party needs to carry due to the threat of polar bears. Several tourists have been maimed or killed by polar bears due to not heeding this order. At night, flares and traps also have to be set.
We also have the longest under sea tunnel (with emergency tube).
Love the energy and focus you use in your videos!
Again Cyril and Methodius DID NOT invent the Cyrillic alphabet they invented the Glagolitic alphabet, their disciples envented the Cyrillic later and named it in honor of their teacher
Appreciate the correction!
They invented both of them
Actually, it is a legend that the decuples of Cyril and Methodius named the Bulgarian Alphabet to the name of Cyril. The more realistic theory is that East Rome renamed the alphabet to this evil name after 1018, when they conquered Bulgaria with the help of the traitorous-sold-off-for-roman-gold Kiev Rus. Note that Cyril and Methodius were paid servants of the East Rome Emperor, workers of hire for the EVIL EMPIRE AT THE TIME. With this deceitful and evil act they deny Bulgaria a major achievement.
say this on Putin
I’m not sure I understand.
@@nick_geo He was referring to the fact that the Russians usually promote it as "Russian alphabet" and we are really divided because of Russian "liberation" during the Russo-Turk wars, but again Soviets occupied it. Bulgarian and Russian are close when it comes to written form but the grammar is different because we are the only Slavic language that dropped cases. I think Russians understand us much. Regarding the islands, there are really cool ones in the Danube where you can kayak. Overall, a very good video. You are most welcome to visit. You forgot to mention our old medival capital of Veliko Tarnovo during the 2nd BG empire. It is not so big anymore, but very nice.
I appreciate your comment! I would certainly love to come back to Bulgaria sometime 😊
