I use paid versions of both Claude and GhatGpt. Use Claude for coding help and ChatGpt for strategies, roadmaps, general internet queries and “brainstorming”… ChatGpt is more conversational as you said. I initially tried to use GPT as a go-to for everything but quickly learned that it wasn’t good for generating code, between forgetting context, and the hallucinations, it was breaking the code it was helping me generate. While Claude’s usage limits can be a pain, I’d rather have that, and get better quality code and checking of that code within a shorter time frame. I sometimes also “verify” the code output I get from Claude in ChatGpt. It’s all a work-in-progress, at least for the foreseeable future. Just my personal opinion’s. Great video!

How does AI know what’s important? Are we assuming that AI is trained on best practices or found something on the internet describing what’s important?

Never understood that "Give it a role" thing. It's either an expert in everything already or it's not. How does me telling an AI that it's an expert going to make it better. In the small stuff I've done, was never impressed with any big differences. Another "thing" to fill up content and sound like an expert AI guy. Glad you don't do think. Enjoying your work. tks.

for youtube vids not supported, I copy/paste the transcript into the text box. Plus, I will use Chatgpt or Grok for a chat, then I will paste the sources they list into NBLM so I don't have to read the entire doc or websites. Seems NBLM starts putting in its own opinion. I have a war history channel and every single podcast the "hosts" spend 2 or 3 minutes saying "War is Bad" (paraphrasing but you get the idea. I will like it and use it, I've been copy / pasting the sources on the left (summaries, transcripts etc...) into another big doc. Export to PDF/Txt then attach to a chat in grok or Chat to build a YT script. A lot of slow cutting and pasting. Which I could just copy ALL, Paste ALL. I've tried using the Customize podcast box, sometimes it does what's instructed, sometimes not. It's still a great product with a lot of potential, even if the "podcast" isn't perfect right now.

Hey Grace, I’m curious to know your thoughts on whether subscribing to Perplexity Pro is worth it, or if ChatGPT search is sufficient. I already have a ChatGPT subscription, but I haven’t used Perplexity as frequently because the results were often underwhelming compared to simply searching Google. Sometimes, I even received incorrect information, especially when it came to specific processes like applying for a job. Could this be because I’m not on the Pro version?

Excellent advice. I have a few good habits to add. 1. Get to an excellent answer first. Then in a separate prompt, ask for it to be formated. Asking for the what and the how in the same prompt can overload and confuse it. 2. Express disappointment when an answer isn't as good or complete as expected. Tell it what is missing, and ask how you could have prompted better to get what is missing. Boil down its suggestions to the key difference and redo. This way, the AI learns how you think and you learn how to prompt the desired thinking. 3. Ask it something you are already an expert in. Do the above #2 sequence. Try to nail the clear and targeted prompt on the first try. Look to be impressed at how Excellent it can be when prompted well. This is the skill necessary for creating agentic AI.

I use it as my second brain for note taking on things I am studying but I find that the summary capability for notebooklm is sub par compared to chatgpt. I get better summary from attaching a single document. Of course for multiple sources notebook is good but it still has a ways to go. Wow, I'm impressed there are a lot of techniques I didn't know before. However, I'm still confusing the difference between memory and customize, because I always use memory to tailor my ChatGPT to respond the way I want. However, I'd really love to go into further detail on how to use the mode in memory and the other techniques. It'd be awesome if you could make videos on each one of them.

    • @graceleungyl

Glad it helps! Do you mean memory and custom instruction? memory is more like temporary, it will only get triggered when context is relevant. Custom instructions are more like permanent that you want GPT to follow every time with no exception.
