The Galactic Empire seemingly had everything going for it. A strong military, a popular ruler, and a legitimate rule ratified by the senate. And yet, 20 years later, it failed. Why did the Empire fall? The objective of this video is to analyze why.

One of the points that I made in the video was hotly discussed, that being the relationship between Ned Stark's younger sister, Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. People had an issue with Lyanna's reason as to why she chose Rhaegar. This video essay will reveal the reason why. Here's why Lyanna Stark Cho...

4:45 was that Arya ?
It's footage from the Vietnam War I believe
5:20 funny thing is the north and Drone have more in common with each other than the kingdoms in-between
That's somewhat right. They both dislike Lannisters but that's about it
@@shade.cinema I myself haven't read the books but a TH-camr I see said something along these lines so if that's not the case please inform me of otherwise
Batman holding USB stick: "Thumb drive."
Interesting thing I only just noticed, could be nothing, but when Tommen asks about strength, Tywin says King Robert, not “your father”. Granted I know it’s a speech specifically about kings, but still..
I personally don't think Tywin thought that Tommen was a bastard. His personal pride towards the Lannister name would never allow him to believe that his children could do such a vile thing.
If it didn't involving fighting, hunting, drinking or whoring, then Robert wasn't interested. He would have been an excellent Maester of War, but he really had no desire for the throne.
One touch I like about show Joffrey is how much of a historian he is. There is always some factoid he pulls out in a lot of his conversations. Doesn’t make him less of a monster, but he is a monster that took extra notes in bloody parts of history.
I've noticed that as well. He seems to be very fascinated about brutal events throughout history.
Those moments where Robert and Ned went silent then burst into laughter was peak friendship lmao
Who would you say the true ruler is in the dance of the dragons
This the wrong video to comment under bruv
@@shade.cinemaTH-cam must have gotten my comments mixed up since I commented this under you’re king Joffrey video
@AegonTargaryenthesecond3096 All good bruv, I'll answer it here. Viserys declared Rhaenyra as his successor, therefore the "rightful" ruler is Rhaenyra.
@ thank you I disagree since the widows law which was mostly on widows rights confirmed male primogeniture this law was created in the first great council the same that declared Viserys as king and since the great councils were created to be a higher power than then the king that would mean Aegon would be the rightful ruler
Absolutly not
Elaborate
@@shade.cinema he literally doomed the world because of his own selfish reasons and lied about it
@@AegonTargaryenthesecond3096 A very valid statement.
@@shade.cinema thank you as is yours
Chad Joffrey 🗿
The first person to ever put those words together folks
@@shade.cinema it’s the truth 🗿
This is Trump about Greenland
Not exactly. Trump wants to annex territories outside of his country. Joffrey wants to clamp down on rebellions within his own kingdom and establish an army loyal to the crown.
Some of the best acting ever. I love king rob
I have seen my legacy evidenced in my lifetime.
I feel like who ever says Ben affleck was the better Batman doesn’t understand Batman
Elaborate plz
He drank and whored like Tyrion. Great king!
Robert the bastard king
14:05 The First Galactic Empire didn’t have to go that far. The First Order takes itself way too seriously.
The Empire had rallies like that. It just wasn't as cringe 🤣🤣
joffrey was wayy worse than robert
Oh there's no doubt about that
She emperor on my sheev til I palpatine
She Grand on my Moff till I Tarkin
decent views ,a new way of looking at the empire.
Thank you good sir! Have a wonderful day 💪
In England, Henry VII banned personal retinues and created a standing army after winning The War of the Roses (primary inspiration for GoT’s War of 5 Kings). Unsurprisingly, it wasn’t popular among the nobility at first but ended up being successful, since it allowed the government to transition the country away from feudalism & resulted in stability & an end to decades of civil war. So, had Joffrey done this he’d unironically be one of Westeros’ greatest rulers (even if he was a horrific person).
A very good comment! Thank you for the support💪
That's obvious, he became king using his hammer and his strenght only, how can a dude like that be fit for the role? Amazing Commander, amazing character, horrible king.
My point exactly. Yet I still see people defend his kingship smh
6:20 - WRONG Homelander doesn't fantasize about killing people, if you continues that same scene where he lasers the crowd you could see that Homelander is sad after he sees all the dead bodies, he is scared of himself losing control.
No. He's sad because people don't like him and he desires to be accepted and loved by everyone. Love and respect matters most to Homelander
@shade.cinema Sorry but you have missed the point of that scene. Watch it again. He is about to cry knowing he almost lost control to his "other self". John is scared of Homelander because he knows what Homelander wants. John wants to be loved. Homelander wants to be worshipped.
@TheXyxy2 At no point in the show does he have a battle with his other self. It's more like his other self is scolding him for desiring the love and acceptance of humans. At no point does Homelander show mercy to someone because John is fighting that inner demon because "John" doesn't really exist anymore. He is fully Homelander.
@shade.cinema He ALWAYS battle himself. When John becomes stressed, Homelander takes control. Milk calms John, this is why John drinks milk because he wants to supress Homelander. He never shows mercy because Honelander always takes control on stressful situations. John is very fragile. There is a key moment in season 4 where he fires Sister Sage, but before she leaves, she tells him he us scared losing to "him", she knows his situation.
Gods, the writing was strong then
Lol, I see what u did there
Absolutely of course he's evil 150,000 % evil he's done so many evil things he's the most psychotic super of them all it doesn't even have to be debated by every definition he's evil case closed you don't even have to say anymore in the video lol😂
VERY stupid take. Robert had destroyed but fix the kingdom with his rule. We don't have any cause to judge him as he did rather brilliantly besides courting Cersei and not comprehending how evil she was. Yes he bankrupted the crown with his bowls, but those have been ways to keep the crown together before his rule and he followed that to good rule. RETIRE
It's the first time I heard someone say: "He bankrupted the realm, therefore he's a good king!" 🤣🤣🤣
@shade.cinema Yeah, you must really hate Robert to just go so hard on him. Give up on the books, as you can't interpret correctly. Bankrupting the realm (not on himself) and publicly getting busy on wife only things done wrong. Retire.
“This is not an exit.” Is the final line in the novel.
What’s the context?? He tries to leave through the wrong door?
nuh uh
zuko fr had one of the best character arcs ever in animated history
Homelander is the perfect example of what Superman would be in reality.
That depends on their upbringing. If Superman was treated the same, he wouldn't be all good and vice versa
I think all the murders happened. The detective who kept questioning Patrick is the proof. The reason why the lawyer claimed he had dinner with Paul Allen is very simple. He confused Paul Allen with someone else because in this film nobody really knows anyone and everyone is selfish. They don't care who is in front of them, they shake hands, pass their time, make money, and don't give a shit about society and the poor. If the lawyer didn't even recognize his client Patrick Bateman, how could he know Paul Allen?
volumen too low, the haha meme was too loud, the music at 6:00 is almost as loud as your voice.
Zuko didn't hate aang. He was just chasing his father's approval
He very much looked at Aang in a contemptful manner, and there are many scenes where that's exemplary.
@shade.cinema bro he was looking at him like he was going to attack him which he did, also Zuko was trying to capture The avatar is he's suppose to smile at him in Those moments before he attacks 😂
@davidcarty7584 He did compare him to Azula, but yes he should smile at him, brew him some coffee and ask him how his day was 😂😂
As readers, we're introduced to Robert Baratheon through the thick lens of Ned Stark's brotherly love. Even that lens shows cracks from the start - the earliest I can think of is Robert complaining about Lyanna being buried beside her family at Winterfell, 14-16 years after the fact and minutes into his visit. Nevermind Ned's feelings, ancestral Stark tradition and the fact this was Lyanna's home, she was _Robert's_ betrothed so he wanted a say.
Good morning guys!
oh man, strong video, fastest subscription of my life...
Thank you good sir! Send it to your friends too 🌵
don't tell me what I "can't help but like". Robert baratheon was an insanely huge piece of shit, objectively speaking. You're either an absolute moron for actually saying the opposite, or just yet another youtube ragebait scumbag. Here's some of the few things: -gluttenous, indulges in lots of food while not caring about starving people -plays around with people's feelings, mocks them and shouts at them -thinks that "I'm the king" is an argument. Just makes him look like a child with too much power. -Mocks people who are lannisters just for being a lannister. Including his own cup bearer and guard. He shits where he eats. He should have more respect for people who can easily poison him. Which did happen. -Has no respect for his wife. Openly cheats on her. Openly hits her. -An usurper. He made up a story about ned's sister being raped, as an excuse to take the throne. -He went even as far as genociding all the targaryans that he could get his hands on, to take the throne. Despite not being involved in the so-called "incident" of ned's sister supposedly being kidnapped. -Absolute lack of responsibility, lets the crown be 6 million in debt. -His priority lies in having some tournament, getting more people killed "for fun". Too bad he's not the one getting killed since he brags about his strength so much. Big mouth, all talk, no action. The only thing he could fight was his unarmed wife, slapping her. Got killed by a boar. Similar to joffrey, big mouth, got disarmed by arya. Talking about tv show not books here. -Didn't properly pass on his crown to ned. Thought that some piece of paper was enough. Proper way was to actually call people as witnesses to crown ned, and be there for the coronation. A naive idiot. -Was aware of a huge problem between starks and lannisters, didn't care about it. As a result of his disinterest, a huge was errupted. No diplomatic skills whatsoever. -gigantic warmonger -ned, his best friend, with a very similar personality, a usurper without honor, took the secret that his wife DID NOT GET RAPPED OR KIDNAPPED to his grave. A gigantic lie, to be used as an excuse to take the throne, ned was aware of all of it even better than robert, and he helped him all the way. Even after robert's death, ned wanted the throne for himself, even if violence was necessary for it. Did not care one bit to thread carefully and diplomatically. Violence was his first option, armed and ready to fight. Robert's best friend speaks high colors about himself. Ned, who fooled westeros into thinking that he is "an honorable man". As honorable as rob who promised to wed a frey woman, and broke his promise. Like father, like son.
Doubling their taxes wouldn’t work out when winter approached. Supplies are scarce as is. And Joffrey can’t afford to pay or maintain a United army of that size when people in his kingdom are already starving. He probably should have bit his tongue on the issue of the north to keep them neutral, dealt with the twins overseas like he wanted, and listened to his grandfather on most everything else.
He said something every leader already knew... What nobody knew was how to unite the kingdom for that to happen. Joffrey thought just because he said it, it will happen...
He was a very entitled person and just expected people to fall in line when he became king.
Bro tried to open my eyes..
Id so get spoiled watching this but I will once I catch up
Besides putting the crown into massive debt and never wanting to be king, he wasnt that bad a king imo. Everything was peaceful until he and Jon Arryn died
It was peaceful because he won a war against a tyrannical king. He also had the support of most lords in Westeros. That's primarily why his reign was mostly peaceful
Lmao
But his friends and assistant still call him Patrick Bateman only,, how come that guy was wondering on this name and calling him Davis ???
I thought his lawyer took care of the murders and made a story about Paul Allen, that his lawyer said "i had dinner with Paul Allen 10 days ago", So Patrick bateman got away with all that
My favourite character. A bloody good laugh on a night out.
I agree the main problem is Reva Vader duels because it can’t really be canon because it ruins their duel in the original trilogy I like this obi wan because it makes sense he has ptsd and called himself off from the force and the two suns growing down on him they really should have made Reva the main villain not Vader and I like the bold liya to caring
I get really tired of these redemption arcs in Star Wars. When are we gonna see a no-nonsense villain who will just be vanquished by the good guys?
How about you try being king then
Rhaegar married the Azor Ahai prophecy. Destiny is All! He considered Lyanna the necessary soil to plough for his dream of Azor Ahai to come true; existing Dornish wife be damned. TL;DR? *In Langoliers Mr. Tommie's Dad from Nostalgia Critic speak* *"LOVE! IS NOT PART! OF THE BIG PICTURE!!!"*
Never thought I'd see the name Nostalgia Critic in my comment section 🤣🤣
This mofo literally said: "Yeah, dude. But LoOoOvE.." 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I don’t get Lyanna’s rationale about Robert. “He has a bastard child and likes to whore while single like every High Lord so I’m going to run away with a guy who already has a wife and kids”
I legit just made a video about this 🤣🤣
