Hola comrades. This is TH-cam's "kitfluencer" Of Models & Monsters. I am a makeup artist/scale model connoisseur from Toronto. I have been building models since I was 12 and I haven't really started getting good at it till recently. I specialize mainly in military aircraft from The Great War to World War 2 but occasionally dabble in other mediums. I would love to hear from viewers if they feel there's certain areas I could improve, or just a nice comment never hurts anyone. Thanks for watching.
Let's Craft Episode 15 Hasegawa 1/48 Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa w/Kimono Pinup Girl
To close out 2023, your Kitfluencer takes on Hasegawa's 1/48 scale Ki-43 Oscar. In this build I will show you how to paint that splotchy Japanese Army Air Force camouflage over bare metal and as a bonus, I have included a scale appropriate Kimono pinup girl to pose with it. If that doesn't get your attention, I don't know what will.

Fine work!! Mine is still in progress. I noticed that you did not added any tubing or hoses on the landing gear bays. Do you think it is too much work not to be perceived? Great job. I got some hints from the video.
@AlexandreBst Sometimes I just get lazy or I want to finish up the project quickly, but generally I try to add as many details as I can.
Unbelievable. You'd swear that thing was made out of metal. I was looking for videos before starting this kit and this one is top level. Did it inspire me or make me feel that I should not even attempt it? I'll go ahead and give it a shot, but I'll be glad if it looks like the box art compared to your masterpiece. Perhaps in the future I can utilize some of your techniques and build a more professional finished product. YOU ARE A MASTER!

How's this kit stack up to the other 1/48 scale Gloster Gladiators on the market? nice build!
@lorimcquinn3966 I have the Roden 1/48 Sea Gladiator as well and it looks a little more detailed compared to this one but I'm pretty sure it won't fit together as well as this one did.
@@ofmodelsandmonsters Thanks for the input. I'll check out the Roden kit. I'm just finishing a (57) year old 1/48 scale kit by Impact of London, England. Why it certainly doesn't have the detail of modern kits, it sparked an interest in the Gloster Gladiator and I wonder who builds the best kit. Thanks.
Turned out well but i cant be bothered with all the messing around. I build to relax not get stressed with poor quality fitment.
So I was just made aware that the Spitfire actually had wooden propeller blades. All these years thinking I knew everything about it, I didn't. So before anyone else corrects me, I am now aware that I made a mistake with the chipping and if I build anymore Spitfires, I will rectify that flub.

Sorry with what I am going to write: I am not seeing a bad kit. I am seeing a builder that make medium effort to make good finished kit with what he has on hands. One evident issue: the bad decals aplication effort.

So glad you're into our hobby. The great thing about Tamiya kits though is that you rarely ever have fit issues and there usually aren't too many parts, so they're great for beginners. Just keep at it, do your research, and have fun.
What do you use as antenna filament ?
I'll either cut pieces of very thin aluminum tubing and slip the wire through or just glob on some microscale kristal klear.
I went with the after market PE harness. I had the same gap issues with the front of the fuselage
Yeah PE belts will always look best, and I find with any kit that has a ton of interior details, no matter how careful you are, there will always be a gap of some sort when you seal the fuselage halves.
I am currently building this kit. No issues, nice fit and of course great detail.

Your results are great considering what you had to work with! I bought both versions of the Ho229 when they were released by Dragon. They remain in my stash, and I will likely build the Zoukei Mura versions before I attempt the ones from Dragon.

Are you thinning your Model Air? If so, ratio, and with water or Vallejo Thinning Medium? Apols if you showed it and I missed it. Airbrush brand and nozzle diam? (.3mm?) Pressure with Vallejo?? Love your geisha. Such a shame Hasegawa don't include a pilot figurine with their 1/48 kits. Fortunately, ModelKasten to the rescue. No Special Attack Unit decal options in this Ki-43 kit unfortunately otherwise I'd do a mini diorama with the school girl figurines traditional wave off farewell. Enjoyed the vid.
Sometimes I thin model air with airbrush thinner and I only add one or two drops. As for the airbrush I've been having issues lately so I've used everything from a Paasche Raptor to a Grex TG3.

Okay dude, you mashed up “Hot For Teacher” by Van Halen and “Shattered” by Pantera in just the first two minutes alone, and I happen to be working on this exact model now, so you have got my full attention! I shall proceed with the lesson now, as I am stumped on two triangular pieces that look pointless.
I enjoyed the build but honestly I could live without the music.
Nice model. What brand of paint and color or colors did you use on nose and engine ? It doesn’t look like olive drab.
It's Vallejo Model Air N41 Dark Olive Drab, and I agree it doesn't quite look like normal olive drab. Next time I might add a little dark brown.

Revell kits call out their own brand of paint, but I use mostly Vallejo paints, so I used the paints that I felt matched the cover paint scheme the closest.
Cann you play wit it?
It's not recommended, but you can if you're careful.

thats very nice, a nice tip dont use putty to cover any holes just use resin and cure it it will dry in seconds and you can clean it very quick and to make it invisible !

Nice interior detail with instrument panel and machine guns. I noticed you forgot to finish the landing gear seam. Totally ruined the model... Really? Its like you put them on as an after thought. Sorry, tell me I'm wrong...
The photo references I used had that seam on the gear covers.
