Hemostasis II, Coagulation Cascade, Intrinsic & Extrinsic pathways, PT & PTT, Thrombin, Endothelium
This Video is the second part of my 2 videos on Hemostasis.
In this video I start with coagulation cascade. We go through both intrinsic and extrinsic pathways of the coagulation cascade. For the initiation of intrinsic pathway we need contact with negatively charged particles which is provided by the platelets' phospholipids. Then we have coagulation factors being activated one after the other leading to the activation of Thrombin which helps convert fibrinogen to fibrin so that fibrin can polymerise and form fibrin strands. Fibrin strands would attach to platelet plug and consolidate it. The extrinsic pathway starts with Tissue Factor or coagulation factor III and ends up in producing fibrin from fibrinogen.
Then we talk about Prothrombin Time Assay (PT) as well as Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT). These tests are used to assess the function of coagulation factors.
The next step is to speak more exclusively about the important role of thrombin and endothelium.

In this short video I describe an overview of #hemostasis or haemostasis going through its four stages: #vasoconstriction primary hemostasis or the formation of a #platelet plug secondary hemostasis which includes the #coagulation cascade leading to conversion of #fibrinogen into #fibrin by the action of #thrombin plug contraction and consolidation Hemostasis or #haemostasis is a process to pre...
Necroptosis, definition, pathway, mechanism, combination of necrosis and apoptosis
มุมมอง 12K4 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I explain the definition of #necroptosis and how it is a combination of #apoptosis and #necrosis. Then I get into details describing the differences and the similarities between necroptosis and apoptosis. Necroptosis starts with external #signalling similar to #extrinsic apoptosis pathway. But then it results in #necrosis-like #death. Meaning it involves #lysosomal #enzymes, low A...

Apoptosis Pathology, Pathway, mechanisms In this video we talk about #apoptosis apoptosis is a programmed #cell death pathway by which the organism gets rid of faulty cells without provoking a host #inflammation. apoptosis can happen in both #physiologic and #pathologic instances. The apoptosis has 3 phases: initiation, execution and degradation. initiation itself has three distinctive pathways...

Inflammation Pathology This video is a detailed #explanation and #illustration of Acute Inflammation. After a short introduction. We go through the 5 following steps: In the lumen of blood vessel: margination, rolling, and adhesion Involves, #selectins , and #integrins as #mediators Crossing through the endothelium to get to the tissue where the focus of inflammation is located, this includes p...

Firstly, We go through the cardinal signs: #Swelling, #tumor #Redness, #palor #heat, #calor #pain, #dolor #loss_of_function, #functio_laesa And then the five steps of inflammation: Recognition of the injurious agent Recruitment of leukocytes Removal of the offender Regulation (control) Resolution So ...
Hypoxia vs Ischemia, differences, definitions
มุมมอง 18K4 ปีที่แล้ว
In this short video we explain the difference between #Ischemia and #Hypoxia . Ischemia is in fact an obstruction of #blood flow. Hypoxia is the state of lack of oxygen. Therefore in Ischemia not only aerobic metabolism is restricted but also anaerobic glycolysis gets compromised after a while once we run out of the already existing substrates or due to the accumulation of metabolites that have...

มุมมอง 15K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Here's a detailed description of #Autophagy. We start with the definition and mechanisms, mentioning all three types: #Chaperone-mediated, #Microautophagy, and #Macroautophagy. Then we get into details of macroautophagy describing the stages, genes, and molecules involved. Autophagy is a basic concept in general #pathology. here's a simple and short explanation of it for #medical students.
