    My Ego LM2135SP lawnmower attempts to start but stops after a few seconds. The orange light is solid. When I try again, it won’t even attempt to start and just shows a solid orange indicator immediately. Removing the battery and reinserting it got it to start for a few seconds before stopping again. Battery is fully charged. Deck is clean with no obstructions. Self-propel and LED lights work fine. After removing the blade and attempting to start, I noticed that the mower runs for about 10 seconds longer than with a blade attached. While I didn’t look at how fast the motor was spinning, it did sound slow. Any ideas what could be wrong?

    I had the same problem, i watched the video and started to disassemble. I removed the cover to start troubleshooting, i noticed that there is a switch mounted on the right side , lokking atitfrom the rear of the mower. I put the battery in and applied pressure back towards the cam off theswing arm for the handle. And the drive motor was working again. Made a wedge and placed it behind the switch to take up the wear. Back in business!

    Thanks for the video. To the comment about diagnosing the problem instead of replacing the harness, this happened to me last year and I did just that (ran another wire to bypass the one that failed). It is very difficult to do as there is very little room to work with, and then it failed again this year. Last year when I did this there were parts everywhere and took me forever to reassemble, this had some good tips for keeping things together.. I guess the main issue is that EGO seems to have a design issue with these failing so frequently.

    • @matterwin8635
      @matterwin8635 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the issue is from folding the unit for storage and the wire bends and over time brake. the reason to do the switch assembly over one wire is that you fix that wire and the other are stressed and mite brake at anytime. that is why we recommend it that way. if your unit is still under coverage from factory this is covered repair. the newer have a redesign on the handle to help with this. Thank you

    Good video, but kind of vague, most people don't know using heat shrink tubing and putting it on before soldering or how to solder or cut wiring/ connections without making it a headache if they cut too close to a connection. Hi Matt! Great video! I have a stage 2 2400 snowblower that I purchased late 2021. Yesterday I hit a stick that got caught on the impeller. We got 5 feet of snow in South Lake Tahoe! Once I removed the stick the light was flashing orange. I was looking at forum and the website about the orange light. I let my batteries rest for 15 minuets. Came back and nothing. I called support and they weren’t much of a help. The closes tech is in Sacramento (2 1/2 hour drive). The road to Sacramento is closed due to heavy snow. Also I don’t have the receipt… which is a lesson learned on my part. The credit card I bought with the snowblower is no longer in active as of 2022. There was no broken shear pins. The impeller could only make 1/4 of a full turn before it gets “locked”. I’m assuming I might need a new motor and gear assembly? I came across your video through a Reddit post. Any advise? Thank you for your time!! 🙏🏼

    Hi Matt- my 2 stage 2400 is a year old. EGO won't honor the warranty because I can't find the receipt. I'm in Alaska so there is no service center. I hit a dog bone, did not shear the pins, and now the wheels will turn but the auger goes "clunk", orange flashing light, and auger won't turn. Its unfortunate that the shear pin design doesnt protect the rest of the blower. After talking to tech support, I tried replacing the electronic assembly ($350). Nope. I know I put the receipt somewhere "safe" and have torn the house apart looking for it. I went to Lowes but they only keep the register logs for 3 months so I was out of luck. I know, I should have registered it right away, but I never had an issue before with anything. Anyway, is it part 201 self propelled gear case assembly or part 34 motor and gear case assembly? Or part 7 front gear case? (Im referring to the service parts list for the SNT2410. The clunk noise is coming more from the midsection, which makes me suspect #34 motor and gear case assembly. Matt - I'm having the same issue as others in this comment section. First use of my SNT2400 yesterday only to have the auger not engage after picking up a rock in the Impeller. Flashing green light to orange when depressing the auger lever. Contacted customer service and after multiple conversations and emails they set up a warranty service repair at Northern Tool in Minnesota. Contacted the Northern Tool store and was told that it would be 5-8 weeks... obviously unacceptable. The unit was purchased at Lowes but given that Northern Tool was shown to be a preferred repair center and Lowes is not, I figured that was a better route to take. Apparently not. @@matterwin8635 I have a similar problem. I purchased mine late December '22. I hit some loose gravel while blowing snow today and broke a sheer pin. I replaced both because the other one was slightly bent. Started snow blowing again and the snowblower shut off and the power light flashed orange/amber. I checked the impeller and had a small rock lodged in behind it. I was able to remove the rock but now when I engage the auger the impeller makes a loud clunking noise. The light stays green and everything turns but I don't want to ruin it so I called support and they told me I have to bring it to a service center and it isn't covered under the warranty. So I paid $1600+ on this snowblower last year and now from what I've been told I'm looking at another $500-$700 to repair it. Any advise?

    Thanks Matt. This is exactly what I needed to troubleshoot my no power issue on a non working but unused Z6 that apparently sat outside Lowes so long in the elements it waterlogged the LCD panel. When I opened up the LCD panel it was so badly water damaged that the desiccant pack had exploded the tiny beads everywhere - it looked like it had an army of brown rust colored insect eggs infested in it!

      You mean like a serialized part? So when I swap in a new LCD panel it won't work until some kind of proprietary, non user accessible program is run? That sounds very counter to right to repair so I hope that's not the case, especially for such an easily swappable part.

    Hey Matt, love your videos man! I just picked up a non working EGO 42" ZTR. The start/stop switch is lit with batteries but nothing else (The batteries light up when inserted into the battery bay). No sounds and no startup of the LCD screen. I'm guessing I have a bad LCD panel or perhaps the whole LCD control box needs to be replaced unless I can troubleshoot the components under the LCD control box. I have a working 42" ZTR. Would you suggest trying to swap out the working LCD to test or better to dissasemble the control box and test the components individually to isolate the problem?

    I wonder about a couple of things. It seems inline butt splices could have been used instead of soldering the wires back together. And, yeah, that red wire solder connection won't last. Other thing is why not troubleshoot the problem instead of just swapping the harness? The problem was one wire, most likely, having broken in the assembly near the switch or at the switch. Could have been a simpler, and less time consuming, repair.

    • @matterwin8635
      @matterwin8635 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the reason we do this is that the likely hood of a different wire in the same bundle braking are high so we replace then all. this way the user dose not get the unit back to have to fail in new way from broke wire in the wire assembly.

    Ego 2-stage stn 24xx are probably good snowblowers , but where i live it is so freaking difficult to get one repaired by ego service dealers because most of them will only repair Ego that they have sold. They don't take units sold by their competitors (lowes, walmart, costco etc..) if your ego doesn't come from a specific dealer/service , good luck having it fixed. You have to call Ego main line and they will only provide you a list of dealers which again brings you to square 1. Eventually you will find a dealer that will accept to take a look at your stn24xx. But that dealer/service is probably 1h or more driving distance which will cost you alot if you hire someone to transport the thing. If you have a van or a truck all you need is a pair of extra arms, but if you don't have a truck or van.. you're just out of luck . Some dealers i called who don't sell Ego told me to stay away from Ego as it uses plastics parts and other parts that fail, like the white self propelled unit which is plastic…probably solid but plastic is plastic…and to fix the problem you need to swap the broken part.. they seem easy to fix, but you just need to know which one to replace (could be a pcb) and most importantly, you have to be able to order those parts somehow.. im not sure if a dealer will sell you the parts. So again the Ego stn is probably a good snowblower but for warranty service, it might not be the best choice unless you live next to an Ego dealer and bought your unit from them. and ofcourse hope they will remain in service for next 20 years and that the parts for discontinued products are still available, So i went with the Toro e26 not because it is better but because the dealership service is only 10 min driving distance so it will cost me less than a $100 bucks to transport (doesn't fit my car). And that dealer have been in business for 50 years, selling Toro, Ariens, Stilth .and they are repairing 30 years old snowblowers still. The toro e26 aside from the electric motorized engine.. the rest are just the same axle , pulleys and belts found on the gas version…it was a safer bet. Im not some toro fanboy btw, in fact i never bought one before the e26. And i did purchase an ego stn2410 which i returned to the store after thinking about it few nights. I didn't like the high pitch hisss loud sound coming from the electric motor. I know it is normal but still i didn't like that sound. But i can say one thing, they are good looking snowblower, black green.. really nice looking. Also easy to move around and their battery are robust compared to toro. Also like their charger.. im thinking about painting my Toro when the warranty expire to make it look like the Ego…. I’m kidding.

      @@randomrazr yes, if i had access to an ego dealer i would choose the Ego over tge Toro.. but the Toro is not that bad as long the battery is working. Its $2500 machine that i hope i won,t brick in 2 years.. but because it,s the same platform as the gas version, you can swap the engine unit..and put a gas engine… so if i see battery dying after 3 years i might choose to turn the toro e26 into a gas snowblower…the gas engine apparently cost $500. Or i may choose to sell it and get an Ego, or i may get new Toro battery hoping they had fixed the problem by then…. Apparently, their battery fail because of the pcb management inside, not the cell.. and they kinda weather proofed sealed the circuit board making it impossible to repair. The cells aren't bad.. i was told that Toro are trying to move their battery (or the components) production out of china.. i have tested the e26 in a very slushy wet snow and it did ok. It didn,t clog. But the toro is big and bulky compared to the ego stn2410. But the toro feels solid and is so dam quiet.

    I have a question Matt - My Ego 2 stage is broken. I ran over a dog rawhide that became stuck in the impeller. When I removed it, I didnt see any visible damage to the impeller. I start the snowblower back up and then it shuts off after a second of trying to spin. When I spin the impeller, it spins almost a full spin and then stops. It will not go any further. I can do the same thing in the opposite direction and it does the same. I spoke to Ego for this and because I ran over the rawhide, it's not covered under warranty. There is also not a repair station near my location. Do you have any advise on this? From watching your video here, It seems like it could be the gearbox that has broken teeth on the gears possibly? I'm not fully sure. Again, no damage visually on the outside. The snow blower does turn on and starts to spin and after all of one second, it just stops and the red led light flashes. I find it odd that if i turn the auger manually, it spins almost a full spin and comes to a stop, almost as if something is blocking it from spinning. Any ideas on this?

      We generally do the whole switch assembly that replaces all the wires. The part cost is low enough that it better to do that the fox one wire say in the selfdrive then few week later wire in the blade side brakes from same stress factor. There is a video on here to show the removal and reinstall of that part.
