One of Sephiroth's musical themes. The lyrics are taken from "One winged angel". I really like how this one turned out, making the vocals was pretty challenging. Someone asked, why I didn't use the "Sors immanis, Et inanis"- part for the lyrics... and looking back now, I kinda wish I did! But back then I was like "Omg, thats enough! Frog's Theme. I was I bit more experimenal with this one, so I added a little intro and some different brass elements in the second verse... So it's more of a "remix" this time. In hindsight, it was a bit to much, but I hope it's still somewhat enjoyable to listen to. Original music composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, Nobuo Uematsu and Noriko Matsueda

the xenogears ost is simply perfect
Even after more than 25 years since this masterpiece released, its OST still keeps being one of the BEST of all time! Most modern games' OSTs can't even begin to compare to the Xenogears' OST, the magnum opus of Yasunori Mitsuda!!
It's so sad melody that describes tragedy of Zeboim era.
hearing this in 2023, wish there will be an actual fully fleshed out Xenogears Remake.

There were allot of original playstation games I never played because I grew up with nintendo. But, I respect the work that goes into a game, and most of all the music, it gives me Sehnsucht for something that never was.
You got exactly 10 seconds before the bomb adds you to the list of Majestic-12 casualties.
I'm listening to this in 2023... this game and soundtrack is too timeless
For real, I'm hoping some of the people who have commented hear have found it in their hear to play through Xenogears again.
There are a handful of games I've played that really stick with me. Xenogears is one of them. I'd love to see games like Xenogears and Chrono Trigger get a faithful remake with graphics like that in Dragon Quest XI.
It saddens me that this game will be forgotten and probably never be replaced by anything. It was too expensive and complex back then - disc 2 was shrunk down to mostly a text adventure because of FFVIII, on which they were working in parallel. I don't even consider a mere remaster that adds the lacking content of disc 2 anywhere near realistic. Now think of an actual, new Xenogears, made by today's game industry...
Why does any single industry have to grow until it's dead inside? Where's the benefit? If the added money isn't ever used; why it doesn't just stay at the good spot? There isn't *anything happening anymore* other than endlessly adding zeroes after killing off the soul of its products, which occurs more or less at the beginning of its timeline. Thereafter it just unnecessarily continues to exist forever without doing anything anymore but to increasingly burden the environment. A double loss without any gain...
Definitely one of the understated pieces in a packed and glorious OST, but June Mermaid has always stood out as a little different. Maybe because it reminds me of some of the classic Final Fantasy themes so much? Hard to say, but it's a lovely piece that if you don't head through the optional Lighthouse section, I believe is missed entirely. Great track.

Not wrong but it starts with Sors imanis Et Inanis, (it is actually that part from the one winged angel) Funny to see that one winged angel, is the one chosen by the planet+ one winged angel into the same song. if it would be by the version you made which is not bad would be followed by Ira vehementis instead of sephiros~ like the japanese people call him

Xenoblade's got nothing on this. OG xeno canon for life.
Both are masterpieces in different ways, the pacing and energy of Xenoblade is just as great as the deep introspective themes of Xenogears IMO.
@@DigaDilsonxenoblade had better gameplay since it's more modern for an rpg, but the story, dialogue, atmosphere of xenogears is unmatched by xenoblades, it just surpass the "spiritual successors" by miles

@@giovanni4304 Oh man , sorry for that. Listening to this..... bring back our memories , good memories , she also purchased the Big magazine. Amazing year. 1997 Final Fantasy VII and 1998 Xeno gears.
@@IBroLLyISePhIrOtH memories can be bittersweet but I'd rather have memories than nothing at all to look back on. For me 97-99 were my greatest years, life was great, games were simply amazing (and still are) and everything was "normal". I got FF7 on Christmas of 97 along with a PS1, still my favorite game to this day and I play the hell out of it on PC now with a ton of graphical mods. Xeno gets played at least once a year and the message/story gets deeper and the deeper the older I get. We can't go back in time but we'll always have these games and the memories to make things semi-ok.

Man, Mitsuda can pack more emotion to 10 second of a song than some artists to whole album.
He understands the human soul and the power of music to stir it. And his music is obvious but not tiresome and in your face. A true master of the craft. Very few of them in this world.

This is Emeralda's theme so your intuition was correct. As a side note the song can be played on a jukebox in the game in which it says September Mermaid while the official English version of the song is June Mermaid. And yet 神無月 actually means October in the modern era (so it is actually October Mermaid or more symbolically Mermaid of the "godless month"). I always find it funny how they got it wrong twice.
