4:38 You're literally proving the myth katana can cut through anything right... 😮 the fuck?! That is one tough blade!
Is anyone else watching this in 2024?
Not bad , Although, 90% of the granite strikes were glancing blows or straight up flat strikes. No one is gonna willing hit a rock and risk damaging it. I et that your torture testing it though , so there is that.
Thanks. Was trying my best to get it to spark. That only happens when you strike at a slight angle..Made some good sparks! Weapon held up.No fails.Safe to use harshly. J
Badass!
Any distal taper?
Not on this line of weapons. These weapons are designed for extreme harsh real world use when Doomsday starts..Pros.. Extremely tough plenty of weight with each swing.Cons smaller guys might think it's to heavy for them..lol😉 Hope this helps..J
Who makes this AND, is it still available???
@jorgefernandez6407 Chris Palmer at Scorpion swords and knives makes these to order..I have several of my Designs on his sight as well..J
@@jasonwoodard4881 Thank you. Gonna have to look em up! Great video too btw!!!
@jorgefernandez6407 thanks!! All his blades are full tang, tough and properly heat treated..All my designs are in the Doomsday line on his page..So if the world ends and you need a real world weapon that won't fail..that's my Line..Doomsday. But all of Chris's blades are as tough.J
Love these swords, they are tough. They're so tough because they're literally twice the weight they should be for a sword that length. So funny, after less than ten swings you have to switch arms, because swinging around a 3lb, 24" sword is so exhausting.
Thank you! They are Doomsday weapons. Built to last and not fail in a real emergency if the world should fall. DOOMSDAY READY!! J
I am eventually going to get the zombie tools D'capitan companion (it is kinda my "grail" short sword), it will be my first Zombie tools purchase, this seems amazing too though!
I really Like the D` Capitan myself.. When I get my Next zombie tool weapon. Im pretty sure that`s the one I want.. You have good taste.. :) J
Where can I purchase this sword?
Hello. This Model was re designed to be even more tough..This is its replacement traditionalarcherybows.com/handmade_doomsday_badland_katana_ii_sword_p76.html
I wonder if the apokatana could survive something like this 🤔
I would say Yes.. As I'm pretty sure Zombie tools Maintains strict quality control on all their weapons and all are made to the same high ,tough standards..Thats I'm guessing. I have the Split spear as well and it's as tough..J
Thanks Appreciate the response 💪
I've never liked that type of 'try hard' leather work ON the handle = it messes with your ability to slide/reposition your hands quickly. It is fine near the bottom (for your anchor hand to get a better grip) or the neck (to protect the shaft from overstrike). Still, nice looking axe + thanks for the short review.
Wow
Was that a differentially hardened or through hardened sword? I've only found Ryujin 5160 katanas that were DH but in the video it held up like it was TH
Does anyone know if they are still making the Green Guardian style of this sword ?
I have watched alot of your videos and value your reviews. But I noticed most if not all of your strikes are controlled, you never chop down like you would an axe, why is this? Would any sword break doing that? Or is there another reason that that would be a bad way to test?
Not sure what you mean..Controlled..As Im not trying to swing wildly, hurt myself over swing cut my self or rip a shoulder tendon..I am trying to strike all items with Controlled powerful swings if that's what you mean? then Yes They are some what Controlled..Don't want to end up in the ER or on a opps real of ticktok..lol
I totally understand, ive personally busted one shoulder tendon and two biceps, when I said controlled I meant it looked like you were putting about 60-70% force into the swings, i.e like boxing training, when you spar with others you go 60-70% so not one gets hurt, but in a real fight you are going 100%. I am not saying throw technique to the wind im saying the hits did not look like you were swinging through your target it looked like you were swinging to your target, but videos can be deceiving so I was asking for your personal assessment, because videos do not capture everything. Like when you use an axe you are hacking through the target not to the target, or when I slice a tatami mat, I swing through the target, when you swing are you attempting to swing through the steel bars etc. Sorry for the lengthy response, im not great at explaining things. You are my go to guy for sword reviews and your videos are amazing, this was really the only question I ever had. Thank you so much for responding, and please keep putting out content you are the best. For some background i got dark sword armory's vindaaris and a smaller friend chopped it into a 2x4 piece of pine with some force youd use with an axe, not uncontrolled, but a stiff full power strike, and on the first chop the sword snapped about 1 foot down the blade, the sword struck at about the center point(a foot or so below the snap point) so the point that snapped must have just flexed and flew instead of returning true.@@jasonwoodard4881
Thank you for the input and feedback.. I feel ya.. I would say I'm giving it about 85% in each swing.. Controlled enough as if I Fup!! miss, over swing ,at least I have a chance of controlling where the swing ends and or not to hurt myself.. I`m getting older and it takes alot longer to recover these days.. played football 14 yrs, and boxed 4 still work out and train for boxing 6 days a wk.. but at 52 with alot of mileage and old injuries' behind me.. its getting harder an getting hurt is just to easy now..;) J@@theferalpaladin4350
I know this is old, but it would have been very valuable information to see details of the edge and tip damage after the trash can testing to see the gradient of abuse.
Hello..The katana did the alot of abuse..The steel was very hard and held up better than most would have..A good sign of proper tempering..Not to bad of damage..Miner chip damage but no edge rolling..Goof hard steel..All and all a very well made Katana for the money..Hope thus is helpful..J
@@jasonwoodard4881 it is, thank you! Just a humble suggestion for future abuse tests.
it reminds me of weapons forged from a single piece of rebar
to put it in short: a macheteized katana
You could say that...Very tough weapon!! They are still ordered every week..J
Preciate u testing swords bro
Thank you Sir!! Really appreciate your comments..J
This sold me. I run a brush clearing service. I think this will be the perfect tool for the job. I've broken dozens of cheap machetes And watching you hack at a piece of granite was impressive.
Thank you!! It's a tough blade as all are that Chris Palmer makes to order..J
Even Magnacut tempered to a lower hardness (and thus higher toughness) would take damage in the sorts of tests that you put this beast through.
If you had save a little bit more money, you could’ve bought the Zombie Tools Diphos instead of buying this sword. 5160 Spring Steel is a much better steel than 1095 high carbon. Get that one and see what you think.
How much
Didn't even mention price which is the deal breaker for some.
Sorry..lol I think I paid $550.00 or so?? Don't recall now.. Not bad..I've spent over 5k for a sword..
Where is the nail?
What do you mean?? Nail??
Nagel or nail. The third bar that goes over the outside of your hand.
@@michaelcroke9628 I just tested this model.. Did not design it..J

u know how to sell a product... holy shit. im sold.
Lol ..Thank you!! My goal us to really test and make sure the weapons will hold up to harsh testing and not break or cause injury.. An or look for things to be made better..J
Thought it would cut better than it does. Not bad, but for essentially a 3 pound, $300 machete, I dunno.... Impressive edge retention, but at 95% carbon it should have good retention haha
is it full tang??
Yes..Pretty much..Made the same way as expensive ones..Has to wooden pins so the blade goes very close to the end of the grip.. J
@@jasonwoodard4881 awesome thanks!
handle would be better with 2 inches added.
Thank you for the input.. I did not design this one..However.. I thought the samething until I got to cut with it..Handles extremely well and feels good when in use..J

Quite reminiscent of blades from the Conan universe. By the way, what are the runes down the center of the blade? Any particular meaning?
Thank you! Yes.. Love the Idea of Conan..What til you see some of my next designs! The marks down the blade I studied the ones on the Atlantian and Viking.. So a few do have meaning. Power, honor, vengeance, strength
Wow, what a beautiful ringing that sword makes
Right!!! I could not hear it with the helmet on..But really could watching the vid after..lol
Wait a minute. I had that armor!
You might have!! Got some of it out of one of the Amazon truck loads I buy everyday..lol J
Given how thin car bodies are now, I would be more impressed if he put it through the windshield.
One brutal test. Good sword it hold up very well
Thank you!! It's F"n tough!! Passed all harsh testing!! J
@@jasonwoodard4881 your using it 2 handed for harder swings and its a 1 handed sword. Would u agree it would be better with couple inches added to handle so its 2 handed?
Thanks for your service
Finally. I was waiting on a video before buying one.
Thanks..Will post a full review with much more harsh testing when I get it from my editing guy tomorrow..Should have Vid up late Sun or early Monday..J
I already have 4 Swords and knifes scorpion swords, but this one is magnificently beautiful and a magnificent design, I'm not going to place my order.
Hell Yeah!! An Thank you for being a fan... Working hard to make tough weapons you can use.. J
Have you used the Redeux ? Do you think this flows and feels better?
What an absolute beast of a sword
Thanks man!! I try and design tough ones in case Doomsday happens and ya need to take out some zombies! 😉 J
When you are doing the final comments you have the designs in the background. Behind you, there is a design with a Celtic pommel design. What sword is that? It looks awesome.
That was therapeutic watch. Nice shirt 👍
This basically is a modern chopper sword.
Nice.
If it had some distal taper then youd really be in business. Yeah leaving it thick like a sharpened bar makes it a little tougher but you lose the ability to use it like a proper sword due to how heavy & slow it'd make it when trying to move it around & hit a target thats fighting back.
I see your point..However..The name of this sword line is the " Doomsday line".. I designed these to be very tough.. Over built..Strong and not break if really needed ..Blades with a thinner tip would not be able to hold to the most harsh abuse or would be more likely to fail. We are in pretty good Business..As some orders one almost daily.. I don't do it for the money. I donate all my % to charity as I don't need money..Lol. 🙂 J
