    I'll just say, I had earlier heard that Paul bought that farm while in the Beatles but hadn't been there but once or twice briefly. Linda suggested they go stay there after the Beatles breakup, to clear Paul's head.

    Linda McCartney couldn’t sing if her life depended on it. She could only stay in tune if she was singing along with Paul, period. If you don’t believe me, listen to her vocal on “I Am Your Singer” on the Wild Life album. She can’t carry the melody or stay in tune until she was singing with Paul. And this was the best take! That alone proves my point. There will undoubtedly be those who will say that she improved over the years. But listen to her vocals. In many cases if not all, they’re double tracked. Double tracking is a technique that is most often used when the singer isn’t a strong enough vocalist to carry the song without it. The fact remains: Linda was only on stage and on record because Paul wanted her there, period. She had no prior musical experience. She was a photographer, not a musician. And it shows in her recordings and performances. I want to end by saying that I’m NOT a Linda hater, as so many reading this will accuse me. But I am speaking realistically about her talents-and they weren’t in music.

    • @dionmcgee5610
      @dionmcgee5610 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm old enough to remember when it happened and there were a lot of men angry at Linda for taking up the spot "of a real musician". They didn't understand that if Paul couldn't tour with her then Paul wouldn't be touring- period. He was newly in love with her (as John was Yoko) and his life had changed. Being a romantic myself I disagreed with everybody back then. Apparently my early love of Beatles music emotionally prepared me for long relationships. None of that crash and burn emotional drama, acrimony, petty vindictiveness nor those hateful break ups where somehow the person one loved is now hated. Lack of self understanding and pure immaturity. 20+ years together and part of the credit goes to the Beatles and the wisdom in their songs.

    • @Danny085
      @Danny085 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@dionmcgee5610 Just because he was in love with her doesn’t make it right. And you can’t use John and Yoko as an example because that was wrong, too. Neither Yoko or Linda were musicians. It doesn’t matter at all what John or Paul wanted. It was just plain wrong, and the evidence shows that. If Paul wasn’t going to tour without Linda, then so be it. But frankly, Paul loves performing so much, I believe he would have found a way to do it without Linda. He could have, as one example, brought Linda on stage for one song. So the point of would he tour without Linda is eventually moot. Plus remember: he hasn’t performed with his subsequent wives. They’re no more or less a musician than Linda was. So what was the point, then? Are you saying that he no longer wants his wife up there? Or maybe he should have realized that it wasn’t a good idea in the first place. Again, I’m NOT a Linda hater. But she didn’t deserve to be on stage with Paul McCartney, and no matter how much he wanted her there, that in itself did NOT justify it or make it right!

    I sadly couldn't finish this video after you mangled the pronunciation of Denny Seiwell's name.... became the first person in over 50 years to claim that Ram was a Wings album.... and offered up your own theories as to what or who Dear Boy was about, completely contrary to what Paul and Linda have always said...

    • @dionmcgee5610
      @dionmcgee5610 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No, he didn't claim that Ram was a Wings album. It kinda sounded like it because I did a double take as well when I heard it. He, correctly, claimed that Wild Life was the first Wings album and Ram came out right before it. Easy to hear it the way you did because I caught it- barely.

    my all time fave paul, album, a masterpiece ive always thought, got on release, [when i was at emi, [it was on my section at emi, at the time], [most beatles fans , [and rock fans had heard of ram, at the time, [and it also commercialy did massively well, uk and usa, [ive always loved it , [the main reason it was criticaly dissed at thje time, was most critics thought paul was to blame for the beatles split, [as the press annouced , at the q and a paul inserted into [mccartney lp, [by the way, my 2nd fave paul, lp, ] and it was just just a few months after the beatles high court case , [ dear boy , was about lindas first husband ]

    You mentioned how john lennon liked the beginning of ram on specifically, but more noteable to me is thqt john very much liked the entirety of ram. There exists an audio of him loudly singen "hands across the water" on his birthday party, with john stating that that way "paul was still there" despite not being physically there. People seem to dismiss this audio though because they assume its referring to a fake video of john singing ram in its entirety

    McCartney has said publicly that "Dear Boy" was both a recognition of his good fortune and a bit of a jab at Linda's ex-husband, Joseph See, for ever letting her go. Other sources speculate that Joseph See may also have been the Jo-Jo mentioned in "Get Back," as See was living in Arizona at the time.

    I think Band on the Run absolutely destroys this album, though it is a Wings record. I love Uncle Albert and agree that the piece is strung together as nicely as the medley off of Abby Road. Many of the other songs too are quite good Too Many People for one but ultimately I find that it is a spotty record overall.

    Obviously the album stands the test of time. I just discovered it a month ago and it always sounds fresh even after listening to it over and over. It could have been produced yesterday. Linda's backing vocals gives the songs that extra energy and rawness that makes them great.

    A musical tour de force, apart from Paul's amazing all round musicianship, Linda really does add a new, vibrant, fun edge. So ahead of its time, lots of critics and fellow musicians just didn't get it at the time. It certainly has for me a wonderful fusion of USA and UK! It has matured like a fine Californian wine!

    This is Paul's "short attention span" album. Not much is fully developed musically. He seems to want to keep the listener off balance. His knack for smashing together different song genres within one song mostly fails him in this record.
