Great interview It was a real pleasure to listen in. Thanks.
Rat actually looks like a rat now. ... Still.... the best drummer & am glad he's back & made up with capt. Met him only once in the 80's & he wasnt the friendliest tbh whereas capt ive met a few times & has always been a laugh, vanian is a tiny bloke & came across as rather shy.
Lovely conversation thanks.
that was ace.
Great interview! Cheers for posting!👍🏼
I met him around 1993 and like everyone else has said he was warm, friendly and funny, nice guy great drummer
Saw The Damned lastning in Sydney . I don't know how to describe it... I've been a fan for years and loved Rats drumming only seen him on promo clips ect .but i was blown away! seing him live finally after 30 odd years .
I.met.Rat.and Captain in 1978 at.erics.Club.in.Liverpool.when I was.14 and. I hate.to.disappoint any punk.fans but they were.really friendly guys!.we.had a laugh and a beer with em,God.Bless.Ya.Rat!!!
Brilliant ! Back in 79 I think it was their first U.S. gig. They opened for The Police at the Paladium in NYC. That gig was kick ass, me and my two friends were probably the only three people who knew the band. The girl I was with looked like the girl on the " Tomorrows girls "45 jacket. Everyone came to see The police we were the only ones standing in the 5th row center cheering on the band. When their set was over we left. We did not want to see the police. We went uptown to west 62nd street to a club called Hurrahs. We were standing at the bar when who walks up to the bar but the UK Subs. Got to meet everybody in the original band and buy them all pints and hang out. Great times indeed. Charle is a great guy.
this is probs a good interview but the sound makes it too difficult to understand
Shame about the background noise
Playing the 02 venues is a total sell out
#charlief...harper #love
#legend #love #motörhead #so36
at least the music in the background is interesting ...
Legenda
Very good
MFMFMFMFMFSHIT. Harley's so well-spoken .
you are the best careless
I went to see one of the Scabies & James gigs in the same week as the Damned played and to me and my mate who came with me to both gigs, it was clear to us both that Scabies & James blew the Damned away, they played with intensity and power that Sensible and Vanian could hope to match. And I love the Damned and go to see them as often as possible, I've been going to see them live for more than 40 years (it feels mad reading how long I've been going to see them). THANK YOU TO THE DAMNED, INCLUDING EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER BEEN A MEMBER OF THE BAND EVEN IF IT WAS ONLY FOR ONE RECORD OR GIG.
It was the Portobello Gold the Hells Angels local that Lemmy used to play the fruit machine all day, the Lonsdale was opposite the Gold. I got kicked out of the Lonsdale (my local) on my 18th birthday because I had just freshly died my hair and the landlord was worried he was going to get raided but they let me back in the next night. I had only been a local for about two years!
Jordan punk is one of popular for world
It's true
Rip Jordan
ginger wildheart is a dead beat dad he owes child support oh but u dumb azz britts dont giv a crap
Is that Olive from On The Buses?
Great interview. Despite the Magic FM jukebox. I smiled at Rat’s Lee Brilleaux experience and introduction to the real Blues. Good to hear Roman Jugg getting a mention and credit for the MCA era albums.
Why are The Damned not inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame?
I assume it's because it's a commercial enterprise and The Damned don't have the commercial recognition.
The rnrhof doesn't actually mean anything anyway so who cares?
The Damned are in the top 5 in my Hall. That is the one that counts. The Stranglers are in there too.
What a conversation. Get back to doing these again. Brilliant stuff.
What a fabulous interview, I could listen to RS all day
No matter what his name is......Rat is a proper geeza!
Life changing moment John peel playing new rose. Forever grateful ...
BRILLIANT. BARNEY GLASGOW 🤩
There are so many pointless videos posted on TH-cam and then there are videos like this that I am so grateful for.
Someone should tell that guy he has blue marker on his forehead, thats gotta be embarrassing
Ban tribute bands!
Second time I've watched this and enjoyed it even more the second time. Inbetween the two watches, I've seen footage of the early years Damned, maybe in San Francisco '79, a great raw energy old school punk gig but with the bonus of Rat and Captain even swapping instruments. Rat on guitar, Mr. Sensible on drums. So this time I appreciated Rat talking about playing chords/guitar because he can. Talented guy. Great interview this.
Warhead is a great song and quite relevant in these times with the situation in Ukraine - very underrated talent is our Charlie H
Those blokes from Grange Hill have let themselves go
Rest In Peace sweet Jordan
R.I.Paradise, Jordan 💔
RIP JORDAN QUEEN OF PUNK
RIP Jordan 🖤👑🧷🐜
She's rigfht. As long as disafected youth still pick up guitars and set out to beat their own path, and if necessary blow up the system,, punk will never die.
blow up the system, i love et, anarchy forever
I've often wondered if Penny receives a state pension these days.
I often wonder about finance & necessary involvement with the state with these breed of people - pure curiosity as I like a world with such people in it
In the State's back then when Endangered Species came out, we got it in the Imports section at Middle Earth Records in Downey, CA. That (and other UK Subs albums) were on heavy rotation. Such a great band - Punk/Power Pop that were ahead of their time.
I partied with Charlie on the RV at the Spirit Cub in San Diego in 94 I think
I have no words.
wow
drop of red for Rat...a man of taste.......red wine....deceptive stuff...
His nostalgic look back at football linked nicely to the early talk about tribes. I would never have expected thay from Penny Rimbaud. Interesting to hear. Thank you for the interview
