Demystifying the Geometry Nodes Workflow
มุมมอง 8Kปีที่แล้ว
After working with geometry nodes for about 1.5 years (6 months of those professionally) I feel like I know a great deal about the pitfalls of the geometry nodes workflow. So in this video I will talk briefly about some of the things that I personally think are important for anyone learning the system. DEFAULT CUBES ARE FINALLY IN GEOMETRY NODES!!
😮
Nice one bro
Great tutorial. I can't get the collection to work. I'm using latest blender. It always just puts both objects every time. Pick instance isn't working.
The align cubes to surface frame doesn't work any more (deprecated) any ideas please? Helpful video thanks
This is what happens when you forget to delete default cube
great tutorial, couple of questions, i tried using instance to points, but scale has no effect, and is it possible to randomize lifetime of individual particles?
I was having headache due to geometry nodes then I found this channel 😂
Thank you so much!! 😁
Hi Khamurai! Thanks for sharing this cool method. But I wonder if this method is not able to restore all the details of models. Because I applied this method to two monkey heads. It turned out that the models lost a lot of details. Do we have any other method to solve it? Thanks!!!
What happened to you 🥹🥹🥹🥹
This doesnt work in blender 4.2
It works in Blender 4.2
Thanks for the update!
Thanks for the tutorial, How can I prevent the texture from scaling when the keys scale?
Damn this is awsome is there a tutorial for it? I especially like the help on the roof i find it so hard to change individual elelments when it comes to geonodes
I have a tutorial on making this effect on my channel, but to get the single house with help written on it I used two collections and then I used a Switch node and used the specific index for the point I wanted that house to be in Index -> Equal to (some integer) -> Boolean value used in Switch node (False -> Use collection 1 | True -> Use collection 2 with the HELP house)
@@Khamurai OMG Thank you so much for the reply! This is so awesome! I will try this as soon as I can! You are the best! Thank you again! :)
I would love to see an update to this. These nodes don't exist anymore.
Which nodes and which Blender version are you referring to?
I cannot tell you how much I needed this! A million thank yous. Does it work with Blender 4.2? I am having issues (nothing opens when I select Quickdocs).
Your examples at the end are freaking amazing. I acctually made a progress bar with the Windows Vista's/7's lighting effect.that sweeps from left to right for a few seconds every time regardless of the length of the progress bar.
new subscriber because this video is amazingly well done well explained ty a lot (But my question is how to make the particles blurry when rendering ?)
That is achieved by enabling Depth of field in the camera settings, if you want to learn more about it I recommend checking out a tutorial on it. It's one of those things that can instantly elevate a render and add realism
Can you save the texture, at a specific look, export it and use the one texture you exported somewhere else?
Is it possible to get 2 or more planes modified?
Okay, so let's say that I have something like this (no typewriter effect, just dynamically changing text): Frame 1: "Initializing Computer..." Frame 100: "Setup Sound System..." Frame 200: "Connecting to Network..." Frame 300: "Insert another text here..." How would I do that? I've been doing a heck of a lot of searching online to no avail...
You could set up a series of geometry switches and keyframe the true/false values for each switch
@@Khamurai Hey thanks. The Index Switch node is what I use to assign multiple texts so that I can choose an index number per frame. I've been using Blender for more than 10 years (not a pro modeller) and I did not know about the Geometry Node editor.
If the character is running and then stops moving, the points will stop moving as well. How can I delete the points that have stopped moving?
Damn!
This is perfect! :) Tackar!
Sorry, maybe this is a dumb question but how you give different materials to both objets? i mean one material to the base objet and another material to the sphere/cyilinder/ etc
Great!
I accidentally inserted the "Fillet Curve" instead of the "Fill Curve" :D Pretty interesting result if you're looking for alien letters ;D I would have liked to see how you set up the world lighting and stuff and how you rendered it out. When I do the render it takes ages! Thanks for sharing with us:)
man, this was such a nice tutorial, well explained and at a reasonable pace in a relatively short video. perfect. definitely learned a few things and if anything I have a saved set-up that I can apply to anything else I want. thanks a lot! this video is going on my playlist!
As of version 4.0 the Transmission roughness slot has been removed, can you tell me how I can get similar stuff in newer versions? On the forum of the blender itself someone managed to achieve a similar effect with Coat, but this method does not seem to be suitable for crystal material. At least my material, with all other settings equivalent to yours, is not too similar to your result
to be honest, even without that option you still get almost the same result. mine looks absolutely fine and I just skipped over the transmission roughness
As anyone found how to loop this hypercube ?
Hi there ! Thank you so much for this tutorial, I have been looking for such a tut for ages now !! How would you resize the string for a longer sentence with line breaks ? I'm new to geometry nodes and can't figure it out 😅
This was amazing. I got the results I needed for what I was doing, but I shall study this.. the connection between the nodes, how they interact, I shall study this until I understand everything. As a programmer for over 30 years, I like knowing exactly how things work, not just WHY they work or THAT they work. Wonderful job!
wowowow I love you i need this !!!!
This is so cool
is there a way to make just 2 cables twisting?
Bro could I do this falloff effect with let’s say an animated volumetrics ?
2:40
Hi bro, can I use this for my music Instagram page?
how do i color the individual faces?
Thank you for this, you have no idea how much time you’ve saved me. I have a couple dozen bitmap planes with alpha transparency that I’m using for a project and copying this node setup will be far easier than my other (quite limited) options. I’m honestly kind of shocked there’s no addon that can create geometry from the contours of an image like this. I can’t imagine it’d be too hard trace the outline and place vertices at the corners of each edge pixel for some pretty clean geometry. Maybe I’ll make it if I ever have the time to dive into python. A tip for anyone else who had issues with this: manually subdivide the original plane once or twice to make it follow the outline of the image more closely if the geometry doesn’t align well with the image. I have been having issues with the technique in the video where it is producing imperfect contours, and this seems to alleviate it almost entirely. I’m still having issues where it it is assigning alpha to the new faces created by the extrusion because it is still just slightly off from the original image. Rather than it extending the colors from each edge pixel like in this video. But that can be fixed if you mess with the texture mapping after the fact as well. Also, if you do an initial one or two subdivisons before going into the geometry nodes, you’ll obviously end up with a ridiculous amount of geometry. But a limited dissolve after the geometry nodes are applied seemed to work fine, bringing the face count on the front down to one or two. Which is much better than many thousand. 😅 Sorry for the text wall, but I was just doing a lot of research on this stuff so I didn’t have to model each piece manually and wanted to share my thoughts. Thanks again for the video!!
Perfecto Super gracias!!!
Where u go khamurai? I miss ur tutorials

thanks a lot!
I allready drank coffee. Will cinnamon bun and milk be ok?
Even better 🙌
Thanks! PS. Could we have the link to the music by any chance? It sounds mystical!
Bro pls post more tutorials, where have you disappeared? Absolutely love your work
Things are coming 🙌
Does deserve a lot more attention, really cool
This is amazing
