    How is the engine vibration compared to Rebel?

    • @Matthewsmith-2024
      @Matthewsmith-2024 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @rajeevwx I'm not sure I never rode the rebel. I imagine it's rather similar since they're both similar sized parallel twins. You can feel it on the tank and frame pretty well, but the pegs and handlebars do a good job suppressing vibrations. The seat does ok, but I did start to notice the vibrations after about an hour.

    Im right there with you on "I dont understand why people want to go that fast". you're absolutely right. honestly maybe Im in the minority but 50-60mph is my ideal comfort zone , I can go faster when I need to and on a straight away sure its fun for a bit, but theres really no good reason to ever be doing more than 75 on 4 wheels, let alone 2...

    The Eliminator might be my next motorcycle. If people can ride bicycles and 49 cc motor scooters around the world, then riding a 451 cc motorcycle that can go 90+ mph can too. It's NOT TOO SMALL! I ride a 125 cc scooter everywhere except Interstate highways. It has a top speed of around 55 mph. I love it but want my one hour plus commute to be thirty-five minutes instead. Being able to ride on the freeways will save me an hour a day. I owned a 2001 Kawasaki LTD 500 Vulcan. It was 50 pounds heavier than the Eliminator with two less horsepower. It was as quick and fast as 800 cc cruisers because it weighed 200 pounds less. Lighter is better. The Eliminator has more horsepower than the Honda 750 Shadows so it will be quicker. Top speed on MANY 800 cc and larger cruisers is around 95-110. One isn't giving up much by riding a 450. The money savings is really substantial. The $10,000+ 1312 cc Honda Fury is limited at 100 mph. The big bikes just ride smoother because they weigh so much. I just learned that the Eliminator's speedometer is off by five to six mph. My inexpensive scooter's analog speedometer is off by that much too. One would expect a $7000 motorcycle's totally digital speedometer to be calibrated correctly.

    I’ve had the Eliminator since Saturday and I’ve already put 500 miles on it, I agree with throttle therapy. The way I look at it it’s like doomscrolling but instead of reels and videos, it’s nature which is alot more soothing and relaxing. I find myself always looking for an excuse to ride because it’s so much fun, I’m 20 years old and when I ride it’s like I’m back at 10 wishing I was riding with all those cool people riding motorcycles but now it’s actually me riding which is pretty surreal, I got out of a 4.5 year relationship and I was also engaged to this girl found out she was cheating and I left the same day. ever since I’ve gotten my motorcycle (used to have a Rebel 300) I’ve been worrying less about the future and just trying to live in the moment. I can worry about that stuff when it comes to it. Sorry for the long comment :-)

    As far as loud pipes save lives goes. I'm a former Federal LEO and we're trained to assume drivers are in their own world and likely won't see lights and sirens. I take that same mindset into my motorcycle riding and assume. Also you're a goof about the therapy take lol. Therapy works on correcting cognitive distortions. Black and white thinking, perfectionism, that kinda shit. Seen it be super useful for some. Riding a bike is great, but at some point you have to hop off and get back to navigating life. See you on the road! 🤙

    • @Matthewsmith-2024
      @Matthewsmith-2024 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You seem to be misunderstanding. The pipes point is not a question of how you should ride. It's a simple observation that, yes, it can make drivers more aware of your presence, thus having the potential to save you from a crash with an unaware driver. That doesn't change the fact that all riders should be acting as if they're invisible. Looks like you also did the same for the therapy comment. Again, I said very clearly that it is useful, but I also think it's over prescribed these days. I don't think you should run to the hospital every time you scrape your knee. But that doesn't mean I think hospitals are useless or don't have value. I think sometimes people feel down, and rather than jumping right to therapy, maybe having a new/fun activity can help lighten the mood. For me, it's riding, but it can be anything really. As long as it gets you out in the world and/or helps you make new friends and connections.

    • @Matthewsmith-2024
      @Matthewsmith-2024 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a massive upgrade over the stock mirrors imo. I can now see behind me with just a quick glance. They're very low profile, too, which I appreciate. They do vibrate a bit more than the stock ones. So I do have to pull in the clutch now and then at the higher rpms to see clearly, but on low to medium, it's perfectly clear.

    Are you on the stock seat? I'm thinking of getting the same bike as my very first and I only sat on it at dealership. Felt great, but not sure if that'd translate if I actually rode the thing. Bike felt nice and low but again not sure if in real driving condition I'd regret not getting the taller factory seat. I'm six feet tall so shorter than you, if that stock seat and low seating position is working out for you long term it has to work out for me.

The legroom is definitely much larger which I would assume all these middleweight nakeds/sports would have. But the lack of a windscreen also makes highways not that pleasant. I bought a hawk 250 efi in 2020. Ended up cutting down the dirtbike hump on the seat putting oldschool leather on it. Swapping the front headlight/assembly for a round headlight off amazon. Put saddle bags/accesories. New battery. New clutch levers. New exhaust this will take knowing how to weld on newer hawks.new chain. Obviously new lube for everything ie oil. As well new tires and a wheel lock. This motorcycle has over 25k miles no problems on it. Ive riden legit everywhere in idaho on some of the nasty mosy bike dropping trails you can imagine. Not only does the hawk do it but i wish youtube would let me show a picture. With just these simple mods the hawk 250 looks like an old school retro cafe bike. I legit have yet to take this bike out to not have someone asking me questions on it. For only being maybe $2000 in with all mods idk pretty nice deal. My ducati monster obviously ripps more but sometimes you just want a pos that just works. The hawk 250 is that bike if you have some knowledge on how to work on things

    I bought a used hawk dlx and i never heard about adjusting the valves. Ive seen guys do it but only when they upgraded the motor to a 300cc. What are the symptoms of having the valves too tight? I haven't noticed anything abnormal that i can tell. I get the occasional backfire that's about it

    • @Matthewsmith-2024
      @Matthewsmith-2024 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you bought used you should be alright. The problems would've likely come early on if you were to have any. I've heard that if they're too tight, it can cause damage to the engine if you overwork it. However, I've also heard with most motorcycles the valves loosen up on their own as part of the break-in period. The hawk is unique in that I've heard from a lot of people that the factory has them way too tight, and you should loosen them up yourself. I didn't end up doing that. I just went real easy breaking in the bike, and it seems ok so far. So fingers crossed 🤞

    • @steventaylor3296
      @steventaylor3296 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I just bought the 2024 dlx fuel injected. I know I had about 950 miles on it and seen a video of someone on Facebook who had 1,000 miles on his and didn't adjust the valves and was sitting on the side of the highway and whe he was trying to start the bike, sounded like the motor was destroyed. So i adjusted my valves on mine and they were super tight when I adjusted them. It made a huge difference, before it felt like it was a bunch of air coming through, vibration and loss of power. After, power is back, smooth. Makes a HUGE difference. It's actually pretty easy if you just take your time and do it. Highly recommend it

    The 2023 Hawk DLX and Hawk X DOT models have counterbalanced engines if you buy the RPS version. The Hawk X has a counterbalanced CG engine and is EPA approved for highway use. The XPRO may or may not be counterbalanced, and you can't tell until you remove it from the crate.

    Thanks everyone for posting their feedback on this bike. I sat on one last year, liked the fit. Haven't tried a test ride. My stepfather lends me his spare Harley when I visit the relatives (Dyna superglide) and that opened my eyes to cruiser life. Thinking of it as a fuel-efficient lighter-weight cruiser that might suffice for a cross-country luggage-hauling travel machine for one. Started riding on a gen1 Versys 650 and still riding it all the time. Hoping that the aftermarket parts makers come forward with bigger tanks, batwing fairings, forward controls, luggage racks, etc.

    I got the SE, Love this bike as a beginner for my first ride. 5'6 and have no complaints on the ergo myself, wild to think almost a foot taller and you're comfy too! They did great. I'm in the same boat w/ the exhaust, can leave for work at 4:30AM and dont want the neighbors to rage lol, but the options are finally coming in, just gotta wait for the right one. I had the Kemimoto bar end mirrors, larger round, and origionally had set them up to hang. I loved everything about them minus they would stop you're turning as they hit the tank and cut off about 15-20% of your handlebar max turn. It's also a bit less than optimal to have to look down/lift arms to see behind you. I ended up just flipping them up and it's working great. I also can't decide on a windscreen, hitting 80+ and beating my chest w/ the wind is fun for so long lol. Hard to decide on a screen though because I have yet to see one that doesn't kill the look it's going for stock. I agree one for a road trip would probably be manditory though. Love the vid, keep the rubber side down!

    Having to wait 3 months during the northern winter does completely suck. I try to cope by telling myself that the long break makes the peak season that much more enjoyable. And it is nice that we don’t have 100 degree days…but I was considering moving to North Carolina so I could ride more.

      Those hot summer days are a drag. It's not too bad as long as you don't get caught in traffic. The move to NC might be worth it. Riding is a lot more fun and economical than driving. It's easy to forget over winter. I also forgot how much I enjoyed spending around $6 to fill my tank 😅
