Macrame angel
In this video we make a simple rope angel using a few basic knots. Lark's head knot, the Double half hitch and a common whipping is pretty much all you will need for this project.

Rock wrap- stick style

Cat of nine tails- Captain's daughter- flogger

In this video we use relatively fancy techniques to make a flogger. Originally these were used to lash those breaking rules on a ship. Naturally they used a more simple, improvised version. This flogger is done around a solid core using a number of different knots. It is a challenging project for the novice, but something quite doable for the intermediate knot enthusiast. Happy tying!

Would making a rope net be similar process
No making a net uses a different knot and a some different tools and techniques
Where’s the cordage from friend?
The one used in the video is from Knotical. We do make our own as well though.
It can be, but usually net making is done with more permanent knots, such as the Sheet bend or even the Overhand knot.
@@zenropeworks I guess your stateside then, I tried to get some from Dan over here in the uk the shipping cost more than cordage!

Nice to see you on here! As you can probably agree, the finish is nothing to write home about. As craftsmen we are often perfectionist, which is a nice trait- to a point. We should not let it hold us back though! In crafts such as basket weaving, leather braiding etc. these kinds of simple finishes are used all the time- they work and are barely noticeable.
@@zenropeworks I used this a couple times in place of a turkshead on getback whips. I always seem to struggle to get that perfect clean finish. Maybe I overthink it sometimes. :)

is the size arbitrary or is there a best practice? working on making my own rope machine from scratch now. Its simple but it works.
Honestly, size of the top does not matter that much. You are best to try it out and see if it works for you. There are few real rules in rope making, since we all use relatively custom machines and setups.
@@zenropeworks fair enough, i wasnt sure if it mattered if the top was larger than the hooks or something. Now to entirely overcomplicate it!

A beautiful piece! It uses knots that I'm very familiar with and have used many times before. I'm not sure about the 20 mins claim as it would take me much longer than that. But with me it's a pastime and so it doesn't matter how long it takes me. I'm a great fan of spiral hitching as it's so simple but highly decorative. I have covered many bottles with just that. The Footrope knot variation is interesting as normally I do it with 4 strands: Crown knot, Wall knot and then go around 3 times but in this one, you basically go around once but with 3 strands at the same time. Very interesting!

Yeah, I love this style of a mat! Just comes together nicely. There is another variation called a sword mat which is similar, but this one is smoother.

nice video, but I've watched a number of these, and nobody tells you what to do with the 2 ends, when you're done.
The two ends can be tied together into a decorative knot or are hidden under the knot. It really depends on the application.
