Fuji GA645 Test Roll & First Impressions
I recently bought a Fuji GA645 and wanted to take it out to shoot some test rolls and share my initial thoughts on the camera. I've always liked the idea of point and shoot cameras but prefer the fully manual and mechanical cameras. Will the larger format of this medium format point and shoot change my mind?

This week's video we head out to the mountains to try shooting another sunset hike. Summer can bring the best and the worst conditions for photos and everything in between. Through The Viewfinder | Hasselblad POV Film Photography
มุมมอง 1.5K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Fall doesn't last long in Calgary and I recently built a little film rig for these POV viewfinder shots. Come with me on a beautiful fall day to shoot a couple of rolls of Kodak Portra 400 through the perspective of the waist level viewfinder on my Hasselblad 503CX. Kick back and vibe out. Just for the heck of it, I show every single shot from these two rolls I shot - the good, the bad, and the...

Unboxing a BRAND NEW Hasselblad & Shooting FIlm in Glacier National Park

In this video, I take two of my dream film cameras on a cut-short 24 hour trip to Glacier National Park. I purchased the camera brand new, in box from a local camera shop. With some initial issues with the shutter inside the lens, I had to send it to a specialized Hasselblad repair tech in Quebec and felt pretty uninspired by photography over the winter so I decided to bring it along with me to...

Rediscovering the Canon AE-1 Program
มุมมอง 2043 ปีที่แล้ว
As I recently had a lull in my photography, I rediscovered my old Canon AE-1 Program. It was the first film camera I had ever received back around 2013-2014. I have since then been mainly shooting on a Nikon FM2, but picked up the AE-1 Program for the first time in years, put in a fresh battery and a roll of Kodak Gold 200 to experience photography in a refreshing way. One that I can describe a...

Thank you for watching! I put a lot of time and effort into making this and it was my first time ever producing a film like this. I definitely learned a lot, but I have a lot more to learn and work on. Also, big thanks to Brandon Ruhl (@cuzevox) for working with me on this little project, and letting me shoot both him and his car. I got a lot of inspiration from the Cars on Board episodes and w...
I've had my eye on a Fuji GA645 for a bit now, and after watching it looks like a great camera. Love the shots you got. Did you use it on Manual at all?
It's a sweet little camera. Such a sharp lens and can't beat shooting medium format in such a portable package. I played around with the manual settings, but I found it too quirky so I never ended up shooting it on manual. With how well it performed on all auto settings, I don't personally see a need to shoot manual. It makes it much easier to just think about composition and occasionally double checking the autofocus
the goat
these are so good
Happy to hear! Thanks so much!
The double glizzy is crazzzzy, lol. Great videos dude!
Ahaha sometimes you gotta double up. Especially if theres more dogs than buns! Thanks for watching my videos ✌️
Someone just stepped up their B Roll and video game!!!!!
The b roll was a last minute decision, but well worth the extra time!
@@camm_eng And it looks so crispy!
@ thanks Davey! I'm super stoked to hear you noticed!
@ I’m your biggest fan!
Lots of really lovely photos, great job!
I’m glad you enjoy seeing the photos! Thanks for checking out the video 🙏
Do you u shot on P mode or manual or Aperture priority?
I shot everything in P mode. It’s great that it has more manual controls if you like, but as a camera that I see so great for convenience, the less I have to think about settings the better
@@camm_eng thank you
Great video, I really enjoyed your images. Which films did you use? Cheers from Brazil!
Thank you so much! I shot Portra 400 for all of these
Perfect video to hype up the rumored and probably expensive Fuji GFX 50RF
I’ve heard of those rumours about that camera but I honestly don’t know anything about it. I don’t think this video alone will make much of an impact on it if any at all. I would love to see the GFX50RX have a hybrid optical viewfinder like the XPro series and I can see it being priced moderately being a medium format digital sensor and appealing to a smaller, more niche photographer. We’ll see what comes about!
I liked the GA645 series, but I sold mine in favor of the GS645S. The idea that this could die at any moment bugged me, and I found I was less likely to take it out. Great photos - stunning detail.
I totally get that. It sorta has the same feeling of the contax T2. Such a great camera but fully electronic and not much you can do if it dies. All of my other cameras are fully mechanical and I love the more tactile experience that comes with them as well
Love the photos and the video man!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to watch
Solid stuff. Love the shots and video work.
I appreciate the feedback! Thank you for watching 🙏
Very cool man!
Thank you!
I like the Miata
It's a super fun car to drive! Thanks!
What is the sling bag you're using?
It's the Alpaka Elements tech case. Love their stuff!
dude these photos are STUNNNNNIIIIINNNNNGGGG
Thanks for the love! ❤️
I borrowed a friend's older GA645W recently and I had a lot of fun shooting with it. Nice shots of Castle mountain and Couger Creek area btw...😄
I hear a lot of people loving the wide version too. I'd be curious to see how it compares! Thanks for watching 😄
how were these shots scanned?
All photos were scanned with the Valoi 360 camera scanning setup. I have a whole video showing how I do it. The only difference for these ones is that I used a 120 film holder rather than the 35mm holder. Everything else is exactly the same. Hope that helps!
@@camm_eng Nice scans!
Thanks so much!!
Subscribed upon learning a new term: “PLG - parking lot glizzy” LOL congrats on an amazing find
Ahh yes the PLG! A road trip staple! Thanks for subscribing :)
Great video Cam. Lots of great shots and a super chill vibe ✌️
Thanks Charly! So glad you enjoyed 😄
It's crazy that this channel hasn't blown up yet, you're making really good stuff man, stick at it - one day it will pay off!
The channel is just starting! 🥹 thanks so much for the kind words. I can't wait to make more
I own a Fuji GS645W - it is very similar in it is a compact medium format - but is more manual with zone focusing, and manual exposure / aperture controls. It is a great camera with a great lens.
I've heard many good things about the GS645W as well. I think these Fuji 645 cameras pack quite the punch
@@camm_eng They are definitely under rated!
nice video! keep it up!
I appreciate you watching! More video to come!
Another banger. Looking forward to more videos in 2025!
Thank you so much! Definitely have more planned for 2025 so stay tuned 🙏
sooooo many good frames in this video. this might be one of my favourite cameras you have.
It's so fun and easy to use. Can't wait to take it on more trips!
Oh yeah, the film back issues are quite common. I fix mine with a CLA. The old 1970's grease on the gears goes hard and crumbles and jams the mechanism and the exposed red tab stops working. You gotta open it up, spray it out with a can of Silicon lube, blasting out the old grease and adjust the red tab back into place and re-adjust one spring tension it's as good as new again.
Good to know! I might just have to do that sometime or have someone else do that for me. I figured something was just sticking in there or something
Foiled again! those pesky fires
Hoping for better hiking conditions for 2025!
Looks like you both had a great time! Wonderful shots! I had my knee act up like that once one a big hike. It was all I could do to get back to the car. Once it healed up my Doctor advised that I take 800 to 1000 mg of Ibuprofen an hour or two before I start a long hike like that. It worked great and I've never had a problem like that since. Hope you have healed nicely. Oh and amazing find on the camera!
It was a great time indeed! Glad you enjoyed the photos too. I've had the issue with my knee come back every now and then when walking or running, but I'm usually within a reasonable distance to stop before it gets too bad. Stretching has seemed to help as well!
Wow. Great shots. Don't know why this video getting viral 🙄
Thanks so much. It’s far from going viral though
@ I also doing the same but with less equipment. Hope one day I will be able to create like this
What a beautiful scenery man, place looks and feels amazing!
Truly so lucky to live so close. There’s endless adventures out there! Thanks for watching
Aw man, I still think we should attempt this one next year!! Even though it didn’t work out these photos are still such good memories 🥹
It’s all about the memories! We’ll get clear conditions…one day
Wildfire hikes can be scary, but the smokey sunset colors!
Super frustrating that I keep getting all the smoke on this one particular hike. Maybe one day I’ll get clear conditions. Or maybe next time I’ll get fog 🤦♂️
Loved this one man!
Thank you so much! One day I hope to get clear conditions!
Rene from Quebec did fix my Hasselblad too 😅 he is so good
Yes! I’m so glad he was able to get my camera serviced!
You can never guarantee the picture perfect setting, but you did get some stellar images of your hike.
You definitely got that right. Thank you! I’m still quite happy with what I shot!
Nice video! I’m currently torn between RB67 Pro SD and Hasselblad 500CM. Love the 500CM form factor, but love 6X7.
Thank you! Both cameras are fantastic. I'd say it depends on how much you want that extra negative size. If you care about the biggest neg, definitely go for the RB67. The Hasselblad for me has been much more pleasant to shoot with and I find myself picking it up more often. I also have a 645 back if I didn't want the square format. Hope you end up with either one in your hands soon
Pentax67: a 105/2.4 lens. Еasy to shoot from eye level. RB67: interchangeable and rotating backs. Bellows allow you to focus very close (at the cost of adding +1 stop of exposure)
Absolutely nailed it!
After sitting unused for so many years. I would expect it to have issues. My first Hasselblad a 503cxi did the exact same thing as yours. I sent it in for repair to Dave Odess and the cost was about $650 for parts and labor. I shot it a couple more years before losing it in lake. Hasselblad will still CLA and repair these. I know they have a place in the eastern part of US. Not sure about Canada. I now shoot my 503CW.
The camera body itself had no issues after being checked by both repair techs. The issue was in the lens. Either way I’m happy it works! Sucks to hear your first one was lost. The place I sent mine to was in Quebec. Unfortunately he’s only servicing limited camera models now
@ That is the old lens you are shooting. But you are good for many year now :)
Killer vid! I still have never done this hike, one day....
Next summer let's go!
Loved this one!
Thanks for checking it out! So glad you enjoyed it
That wind was NO JOKE 😅😭 the feeling of when we got back to the tree line was such a relief!!
I'm also so glad neither of us lost our hats in that wind! Phewf!
Great to see an Alberta photographer putting out content. Loved the picture of that T-Bird.
