@georgiaboy4410 right lol

You should not assume that the factory Hornady ammo is loaded with the same powders that you can buy over the counter. You have no idea what the true burn rate is of the powder used in the factory ammo
@@mikes1097 Hodgdon and Hornady both say the leverevolution ammo is loaded with leverevolution powder.
@@georgiaboy4410 thanks for that info.. I did not realize that was the case.. Merry Christmas

Nice Russian Tula SKS you have there. I have two of those myself - one made in 1953 and the other one a letter series made in 1956 because it has the Cyrillic Д following the serial no. Yours doesn’t look like it was refurbed. Usually the white bolt, bolt carrier and bayonet are painted black if refurbished. Anyway those are nice SKS. I have mine for over 40 yrs. You just make sure the free-floating firing pin isn’t stuck in the forward position or else you get a slam fire. It happened a couple times to mine. There’s a way to take out the firing pin from the bolt to clean it. I would prefer to use non-corrosive Russian military steel-case ammo like those you have there than commercial grade ones. But that just me.
If it wasn't for the ability of being spooked easy, deer would be just like cattle.... lol! Not too smart.
I’ve always found that inner sight ring too large for precise aiming.
@@jungleno. correct. It’s not a precision sight like a nice peep sight. With the fiber optic front sight it was more like a red dot sight.
What’s the difference between that rifle and the 30as?
@@jimmydalton4960 the 30AS has the cross bolt safety. S = safety I think

Good to see them. I have a real big old doe that lives in our area. She has a couple of yearlings from past couple of years with her . I like to see them , neighbor feeds them .

Been fishing a lot this fall and doing some hunting with the boys. They’ve put two meat deer in the freezer already. Hope you are doing well Daniel👍🏻
Just wanted to point out that you cannot pull a bullet and weigh an unknown factory powder and then compare that to anything you have in a can at home.
@@InWithBothFeet that’s true. Even though the Hornady leverevolution ammo specifies it’s loaded with leverevolution powder it could possibly be another blend.
@@InWithBothFeet just checked Hornadys website. It says they load their ammo with the same leverevolution powder that we can buy.
@@georgiaboy4410 Well... Now don't that make me look like an azz. LOL

I have a press like yours, I have been loading some 30.06 the problem I am having is with the lee factory crimp die,, this is the second one and the collet is only like 1/8 inch from the top of the die so it does no good at all, I have contacted Lee to see if I am doing something wrong, but I really like those little presses.
@@MissouriOldTimer it’s a great press. I’ve never had an issue with the lee factory crimp die or the collet die. Hopefully lee can help you get that worked out.
@@MissouriOldTimer You adjust the collet die down while looking at the 4 segments in the die . When the segments almost touch each other that is max crimp . Or you can raise the shell holder full stroke and screw the collet die to just touch the shell holder . A half turn more is max crimp .
@@jamespollard1670 I sent you an email trying to explain a little better what I meant plus a few photos of the die.

I have a question if you don't mind. When you push the switch does the motor come on and stay on until you push the switch again? On mine you have to hold the switch down to keep it going. It's kinda annoying that way it don't stay down all the time.
@@markmorgan1116 mine is the same. You have to hold the switch down to turn the motor on and it stops when you let off the switch. The switch on the side of the pedal will allow the motor to stay on all the time or only when you press the switch on top.
Of all things, have you tried wrapping your projectiles with a single layer of rice/cigarette paper? If you're using hollow points, you can twist the end and using a lolly pop stick or a toothpick, you can tuck that twisted pigtail down inside of the hollowpoint or trim it off entirely. Instead of the PITA of cleaning out your lead pot to run strictly a harder lead or the investment of running a separate lead pot [& hoping not to get either of them mis-matched, etc] Before you slap on the gas check or seat the projectile on the case, wrap a single layer EZ Wider or Joker cigarette paper just south of the shoulder or encase it entirely. Cheaper by far than special order gas checks and a fine mist of moisture; like from a perfume bottle atomizer and then allowing them to dry thoroughly before final assembly. They snug up and almost form a tight little shell. So long as the reloader is careful and reloading is all about care, is it not? There is no trash or paper bits to foul the magazine or anything.
I have one from 1989 but I lost the holster
