    All based on poor science and no game will thank them for it. Stupid. Not helped by the UK's Game Meat Industry's desperation to have the widest market possible; read: all Europe where much of this silly Pb legislation exists. Even sadder is there is no shooting organisation that is going to fight this. Studies carried out show country populations that eat game that have been shot with Pb ammunition have better health than populations of large cities.

    Getting rid of lead is just one of the many hurdles that they are placing on firearms owners such as a massive increase in the cost of certification, increases in security, doctors letters, the confiscation of guns for trivial misdemeanours or even untrue rumours. The end game is to reduce the amount of users of guns. I already know of neighbouring farms who have given up their guns. Next will be fishing.

    Unless they come up with a cost effective alternative for 410 then its going to stop the 410 in its tracks especially for the youngsters I believe there may be 28 bore steel in the usa so if they have it then we can use it. Does anyone know a person that has been hurt by lead in the meat i dont

    • @OldFashioned-h1k
      @OldFashioned-h1k 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Winchester make a steel load for .410 but we don't have it in the UK at the moment. Do some research on TSS loads (tungsten super shot) these may be expensive but they are more effective than lead; imagine using an ounce of 9 shot as a duck load!

    • @andrewhirsch6472
      @andrewhirsch6472 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Difficult to prove in the case of humans, but we do know that lead (from whatever source) hurts children far more than adults. It would have affected more children in the past, especially in the Great Depression when there was far more subsistence hunting, both legal and illegal. Lead shot is definitely harmful--badly so--for wild birds, both scavengers such as buzzards and predators such as hawks and eagles. Even a single #6 pellet can be fatal for them. For that reason I've stopped using lead shot for all hunting, even in upland areas where it's (still) legal. Bismuth is much more expensive, but quite effective and can be used in elderly shotguns.

  • @eltelboy8492
    @eltelboy8492 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    Cartridge increase already incoming and the cost of steel shot is only going to drive the cost up, so will the cost of cartridges come down, I doubt it.

    • @declanrobinson6624
      @declanrobinson6624 12 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Steel is generally cheaper to produce than led... it's also the same to buy from a reloading perspective, the issue is the wads becoming publicly available at the minute as they are around 5 times the price.

    • @eltelboy8492
      @eltelboy8492 2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @ you can state it’s cheaper but a Quick Look and the cheapest box of steel cartridges I can find is about £12 a box, so unless something is done about cartridge prices there’s going to be a lot of people leaving the sport. To me it’s a bit like petrol prices in this country, the price spiralled because at the time it was expensive to extract, we were promised the price would return to normal once we “got through” the expensive stuff only for it to remain the same or increase slightly.

    There are going to be alot of people selling or scrapping 243 rifles, UNLESS, a manufacturer comes up with a good copper bullet that suits a 1 in 10. Who decided this cut off point and why are we following a European led trend. Getting lead out the food chain has to be a good idea, but for target use and an ethical clean shot you need to hit the mark. Any you tubers done a successful video of copper in a 243, probably the most common of all the 'labled large' centre fire rifles in the UK, because of how police forces work.

    60% of all hen harrier populations are found on grouse moor. The langholme project found that on a keepered estate, hen harriers thrived, as soon as the keepering stopped, they reduced by over half. Resarch it langholme project. Keepering creates the most amount of biodiversity for a piece of land. Only look at Wales where they stopped grouse shooting, golden plover and curlew disappeared entirely, lapwing reduced by 70%, and as a result if there being less food the predator populations you're hen harrier you're buzzard and red iites reduced massively too.

    A beautifully made film which explores the conflicts between human beings and wildlife. And how our opinions vary regarding the natural world. We are the supreme apex predator of planet Earth! We are almost like ‘Gods’ compared to all other life. When another species starts to dominate certain ecosystems and interferes with our selfish human interests, we reach for our guns! Fortunately for us, we’re at the top of the food chain. “Humans messed up the natural order of things in this country millennia ago” A cruel planet! Survival of the fittest! No easy answers to this particular problem, when two human factions are at loggerheads.

    Can anyone explain to me why the Hen Harrier is a rare bird of prey and why did it decline rapidly across England over the 20th century? I'd love to know. Great to see Tom the keeper indirectly explain he's not going to persecute them while trying to avoid a direct mention to the idea that they get shot by others. "We're not gonna be pushing back against having them here" has a heavy implication of a pushback elsewhere, but of course the end of the video explains that pushback doesn't exist, so it's slightly odd that was something he needed to say in the first place!

    • @dav6131
      @dav6131 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @nationalgamekeepersorganis9866 you know that you are deliberately misleading the public. I work in the North York Moors. Several of my customers are farmers and gamekeepers. Off the record they will readily admit that if there is a pheasant shoot and particularly on grouse moors- all raptors have to go. Fact. Up here that particularly means rarities like Short eared owls, Hen Harriers and Goshawks. On top of that, up here we have pole traps for raptors, illegal deer hunting with dogs, Badger baiting etc.

    • @lukeharris7672
      @lukeharris7672 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @dav6131 if you are in the north york moors then where do you see the raptors? I myself in the dales, know exactly where, and thats shooting estates. Why? Wildlife has been shown countless times to be benefitted from and by game shooting. As a result of pheasants buzzard populations have boomed by 455% in the last 20 years (mark Avery) hen harrier populations 75% of which are found on grouse moors. Look at the langhome project or what happened in wales after grouse shooting had been stopped, golden plover and curlew disappeared entirely. Lapwing reduced by over 70% and predatory birds either disappeared aswell in the case of the hen harrier or over halved in those areas in the case for buzzards and red kites. This do gooder idealogy comes from good intentions but non the less from a place of complete ignorance which will simply result in the death of rare and protected wildlife
